Ok Blades programme hunters.
Tell us about your collections. Rare items. Oldest item. Unusual friendlies. Reserves. Ellusive programmes. Requests.

There must be people with bigger collections than me.

i have about 500.
4 complete seasons home and away 73/4, 74/5, 78/79, 81/82.

I am missing 4 from the 06/07 premier league season Birmingham, Chelsea, Arsenal and Swansea homes,

and one elusive game from 03/04 to complete that season, Macclesfield away in the league cup 12th August 03.

I am only doing the year I was born 64, until 06/07 with all the ups and downs in between.

Tell us about your collecting.

I've got one from an entirely pointless mid-season friendly with Latvia from 2000 (?). Crowd was about about 3,000, we lost 0-1.

I've got way too many but haven't bought one for about 10 years - I know they'll just get added to the pile...

Shit this useless keyboard. What I was trying to say is I have one from Willie Bauld`s testimonial, Hearts vs Sheffield United, Nov 1962, got it given by a Jam Tart supporting friend in Botswana a few years ago.

He'd gone to Botswana ... and taken that program with him ......

Then gave it away ?

Away soaking up some rays & drinking copious amounts of alcohol.but I’ll put some of mine up on my return got some old ones that’s been passed down to me plus ones from my early watching days 77/78 onwards .. for obscure ones I once tagged on with my older brothers & mates to Radio Aire challenge match with Bradford at end of 4th div championship campaign , they decided to attend on basis of a drunken decision for me it was bliss another game in the only success I’d seen in early days of watching us get relegated twice . Still got the printed sheet ‘programme’ that Myrtle the Bradford City secretary had typed up for the game & charged us a quid for somewhere..... ahh happy days

With the exception of about a dozen aways mostly from the 90’s, I need just 5 league /cup programmes home or away back to 1944. There are a few obscure friendlies and a couple of postponed programmes I need as well. The only home programme I need is the Wolves cup game in 1946/7. A single sheet of paper rarer than rocking horse shit that, even if you were lucky enough to see one at auction (which I haven’t in 25 years of collecting) is likely to set you back over £3500. When your down to the nitty gritty it gets expensive!!

Anybody got programmes from 1979 to 1981?

Looking for images of the Cantors away shirts from those seasons.

As daft as programme collecting seems to some people , a shoe box full of rare ones , could probably buy you a house , i wont be telling anyone where mine are kept , anytime soon .

I'm working on it ;)

and if anyone else has any gaps they would like to fill just send me a list and I'll see what I can do.

I have a garage full of allsorts from the early 70's to about 3yrs ago
when I stopped buying them

I don't collect programmes myself. But, because I do go to the odd obscure match, some of the very extreme collectors are in my orbit. It was they (and me) I affectionately dubbed the Carrier Bag Firm. I have to say, the extremes are EXTREME. Most of them now need three bits of paper per game. Programme. Teamsheet. Ticket. One guy I know is a Season Ticket Holder at The Lane. He goes down to the ticket office before EVERY game and upgrades or changes his seat. So, that he gets a paper ticket for his collection.
SUFC must produce a Teamsheet for every U23 game by the League Regulations. Unfortunately the printing facilities at Stocksbridge are not up to it. So, they have to be produced miles away at The Lane. In order not to miss out on the number of Teamsheets they need for their collection, two of the CBF have "the franchise" for transporting them from The Lane to Stocksbridge. Many hardcore CBF are not Internet Savvy, so don't post on here. Mores The Pity.

is a marvel.
Also, a shout-out to one unamed extreme collector who does post on here. Unscrewed a seat at The Marítimo game & brought it home on the plane for his collection.

Has anyone got the programme from Bury away on 14th January 2012 that they would be willing to sell? It's the only programme I'm missing so far in my quest to do the 92 watching United (64 up to now ).

Would a seat fit in a carrier bag?

Also, would there still be space for the pens, crayons and railway timetables?

I collected programmes and attending programme fairs from 81 to 90, got about 1500 programmes, mainly dating from 1966 to 1990. Think I have almost every United home programme during the 70;s and 80’s, also have about a quarter of all the away matches during the 70’s and 80’s too.

My oldest are early 1950’s, have loads (40) of Cup final programmes and semi-final programmes (15). Also have loads of internationals, testimonials, reserves matches and magazines (Charles Buchan and Football weekly supplement). Hate to admit it but one of my uncles was a Wednesdayites and he gave me loads (400) of Wednesday home and always from the 70’s and early 80’s.

Stopped collecting programmes around 1990, hardly bought any and since not looked at them since. They up in the loft somewhere.

I plan on redoing those season review videos I did at some point. As well as adding some new footage I have, I want to add more photos and the programs are a good source for those.

So, if anyone out there has a good collection and a scanner...

I have one dated issue 16 2006/7 (£3.00 yer programme) 30/01/07 -v- Fulham with Quinn the younger on the front. Free to good (or bad) home.

Got a least 20 full seasons from 1990 to 2010 inc the aways from our premier year.
Most of them are filed away in red folders but a few seasons are not.
Question. Where can I buy cheap folders to house them?
The superstore wants 15 quid each. Too much.

I just store my modern ones in wide 4 ring binders in clear punched pockets. The superstore ones are overpriced for what they are. For the flush collector you can have custom made binders with Sheffield United and the season embossed on the side for silly money....... which I haven’t got!!

to whoever stole my programme collection from work may I offer this , You TWAT ! ( YOU THIEVING TWAT )
this was built up over many years particularly the 1971 season onwards .
