“Sheffield Utd are likely to be more physical and direct so a lot more contact is likely to take place and the 50/50 challenges need to won”

Ah, the old classics. I’d have forgiven them if this was the season opener, rather than coming after 44 matches...

It's genuinely ridiculous how we still get called a direct and physical side from fans who have must surely have seen us play this season. It's always a facepalm moment for me. I'd actually like us to be more direct and physical at times.
Some clubs just keep stereotypes, long after they aren't true

Crewe play good football and have a fantastic academy
Swansea play possesson football
Wednesday are one of the biggest clubs
Us, Wimbledon etc are long ball teams
QPR are nice
Man City fans hang on to the bottom of St John's ambulances to get in the ground

Well maybe last season’s opener.

It's interesting to see the difference between a few short miles.

Preston fans: Generally reasonable, knowledgable folk with something of worth to say.

Then down the road you get those dopey mutant fucktards from Bolton, the Barnsley of Lancashire.

Why interesting?

Us: Generally reasonable, knowledgable folk with something of worth to say.

Pigs: Then down the road (S6) you get those dopey mutant fucktards from South Barnsley.

Piss poor if they don't sell out. In fact, even poorer than piss. A true poorer than piss effort.

Piss Poor Preston...

Where did 'piss-poor' come from?

They used to use urine to tan animal skins, so families used to all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken & sold to the tannery…….if you had to do this to survive you were “Piss Poor”

But worse than that were the really poor folk who couldn’t even afford to buy a pot……they “didn’t have a pot to piss in” & were the lowest of the low (apart from Wednesday).

"we’ll have no luck with the long balls forward we resort to at times" -
Appears this fella doesn't even watch his/her own side (against us) from my recollection of the goal @ Deepdale (& indeed plenty of other occasions this season)

Set pieces will pose a problem too, as we’ve been weak defending them recently and having tall centre halves and the likes of Leon Clarke and Clayton Donaldson attacking the ball will be very dangerous.

They obviously haven’t seen us on corners & set pieces this season !

Despite playing Preston four thousand times in the last 15 years, they still can't spell our ground right.

“I believe Sheffield United play a 3-5-2 and most of their attack is fast breaks, going forward in numbers with the wingbacks bombing down the flanks at every opportunity. Keeping the wingbacks pegged back in a defensive role should be a top priority, which means pace on the wings, forcing Baldock and Stevens to keep tight to them and be hesitant to join the attack. Without them united have very little width from what I’ve seen of them, so Robinson and Barkhuizen on the wings is a must in my opinion, with Bodin either benched or played centrally. O’Connell, Basham, and Stearman are all around 6’3″ so we’ll have no luck with the long balls forward we resort to at times, so keeping the ball on the ground is an absolute must as I doubt we’ll win many duels. Set pieces will pose a problem too, as we’ve been weak defending them recently and having tall centre halves and the likes of Leon Clarke and Clayton Donaldson attacking the ball will be very dangerous. ‘m expecting a few goals for both sides in this one. Both teams will be at each other’s throats from the off “

The epitome of the well-informed, respectful rival fan. Chapeau!

‘down as a dead cert 3 points’.. you’re making it up pal .. none of us think it is a dead cert by any stretch
