Some of you may know that Blademan Legend Derek Goodison passed away in late March.
I haven't got an ounce of sentimentality in me.
But, Goodison brought me up as a Blade. Down my thoroughfare, he defined the hard drinking, go everywhere, come & get me Copper path of being a Blade.
I have been asked to let people know that Derek's funeral is arranged for
Tuesday 15 May 0945am at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium.

Alecart :)

He did well, it was reported on here he passed a couple of years ago. Would've got him going.

If you'll indulge me.
A quick bump to remind that it is Derek's funeral on Tuesday.
My understanding is that The Cricketers will be open after the funeral for Goodison to be remembered in a traditional fashion.

Derek used to routinely apply for the Managers job at both Bramall Lane & Hillsborough whenever there was a sacking or resignation.
Although a Blade to his toenails, he grudgingly admitted that it was only ever Wednesday who had the courtesy to reply.
Hopefully, his applications, rejections & impressive array of charge sheets & letters banning him from pubs, grounds & rail companies will one day find their way into the British Library Archives.

Sadly I can't make it to derricks final saddle up ,but to the blades on shreds coach that knew the double gallon give him a great send off .utb ftp and a mention to the referees of this world your safer now !!!

The timing on this has been a bit unfortunate for me as it is one of the few days a year that I have to work.
I’m sure Goody will get a good send off both at Hutcliffe Wood and especially in The Cricks afterwards.
RIP Blademan (with no s ), extraordinaire.

Goodisons Gorillas,- now that takes me back a bit, stood outside Midland Station - better get out the cartoons for Tuesday
It was Goodison's Guerillas although some of the beer monsters looked like gorrilas.

''All the Blademen love their gravy,
All the Blademen love to spew,
When you've had a triple gallon, it's the natural thing to do....
Nice and easy, goes down easy and it comes up just the same...
So if you see a fellow spew, it's the natural thing to do, call him a Bladesman, coz that's his name...''
RIP Goodison.
