I remember the last big unit striker we signed from Holland that had previously played in Scotland.

A battering ram to sit on the bench, haven't we got Hanson for that? We just need a player with a long throw and we're made.

Without calling me out as a bullshitter ;) He's a player I was aware of about 2 years ago. He was 24 yr old then, and there was a little bit of a buzz around him and I thought he might be of interest to Utd then ( I was going to email his name along with a couple of others to the club). He was seen as the next John Carew (hardly a compliment) and it looked like there might be a tug of war between the USA & Norway for his services. He was playing in Bulgaria for a top team but they got relegated for financial irregularities, but in that time he'd played & scored in the europa league and looked a handful in the games & clips i'd seen. It was hard to judge his actual quality because he was prolific and he'd been playing 2nd tier in portugal before that. He then went to Hearts and I thought that he'd nail it up there & then get a move to England. He didn't and what I say of him in Scotland he looked poor. 6 goals in about 40 games. Also at the same time, it was apparent what our style of play was, so I was glad i'd not made an arse of myself suggesting him to anyone. He's had a good season I Holland this year and has been capped a couple of times by Norway, but as we know from previous players the dutch league is a funny one to judge. It's also worth noting that only 1 of his goals this season has been scored against one of the top 4 sides, and that 6 of his goals have come in 3 games.

Well he's English speaking so it wouldn't be a totally unethical signing for us.

I don't know much about transfers, but what I've picked up over the last few transfer windows is... this Darren Smith isn't right very often.
I can't wait for a summer of Max and Sunjihi!

oh great a guy who has scored 15 goals in Eredivisie, cant possibly see what could go wrong, in the last 10 years I can only think 1 striker from Eredivisie, that has come to England & been a success that's suarez. as other been massive flops alves, depay, higdon, janssen & altidore

Spot on. I rated Janssen very highly & thought Spurs had pulled off a reyt buy. I also thought Altidore would be a good player in England, as he appeared to have all the right attributes. Saying that, Jenssen may come again as he's only 23 yrs old & just needs to start scoring somewhere & build his confidence up again.

Yeah janssen is tough as kane will always overshadow. But could be a kagawa. Who has been fantastic for Dortmund in 2 spells before & after. But just didnt settle in premier league

I haven't seen too much of him, as he's never played in Norway. But he's forced himself into the Norway set up and done pretty well when he's played. He's very tall, but not the strongest and I wouldn't describe him as a battering ram. He's ok technically and pretty mobile for his size. As a type he's more similar to a Brian Deane, Leon Clarke or Marcus Bent, than Higdon or Hanson.

I agree that his career so far makes it difficult to judge him.

In terms of build he's not dissimilar to Rashford at Man Utd.

Of course there are considerable differences between Dutch football and the English game, but surely it would be worth trying to sign Johnsen on a pre-contract agreement, watch him play in two or three games, and see whether there's the potential to adapt to the Championship game? He looks more mobile than Higdon, although that's not saying a great deal, but whether he could adapt and progress to the demands of the English game would depend on Wilder and Knill's evaluation of what Johnsen offers.

Given our financial limitations, plus our need for players who could help improve our overall performance, I think this represents exactly the type of player we should take a look at.

Looks like he's contracted until 2020 so he'd cost us. That probably puts us out of the running for a player like this.

Higgins scored more goals than him at level although to be fair not as many at the Bulgarian 1st division.

Find it very hard to get excited about someone that flopped in the SPL.

Lyle Taylor bagged for fun up there, as did Higdon.

And this lad on the end of it judging by his headers, or their defence will put us to shame.
