So far, v Wilder's Sheffield United the record is:

Millwall 3-1 Sheffield United

That's: P3 W2 D0 L1 F5 A3

I'm going tomorrow.
I haven't seen us win live since 27th October at Leeds
I've been to about 10 games since then, home and away.

Soz :(

... city of over 700,000 people & an even bigger metropolitan area? ...

It's the metropolitan area - which stretches across half the bloody county - that has a population over 700,000. The city itself is something like 500,000. Doesn't change what you are saying, it just pisses me off that Leeds have managed to con everyone into thinking they are much bigger than they are by adding the likes of wetherby in.

Poor numbers?

It's a miracle we exist. In fact, in most other countries we wouldn't.

The club has never had any sustained success in the Football League and have a limited catchment area - we are hemmed in by the Thames a mile to the north, Charlton 4 miles to the east, Palace 6 miles to the south and Chelsea 7 miles to the west. Plus, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, two of the biggest clubs in world football play just a short train ride away; and West Ham, who have always been better than us & have cheap tickets, are only 3 tube stops away.

Millwall do not attract middle-class families just moved to SE London, they go to Palace or Charlton, or if they can afford it Chelsea or Arsenal. Millwall do not attract glory-hunters - they go to Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs or West Ham.

Millwall have to rely on the old communities around the ground and those people passing the club down like a cursed family heirloom to simply survive. The fact that on average 9-12,000 people do, despite us yo-yoing between the third and second tier of English football and enjoying the worse supporter rep in Europe, is amazing in my opinion.

In fact, if the people of Leeds were as passionate about their local football club as the people of our tiny part of inner-city London (ie actual Millwall areas), then Leeds United would be getting 70,000 a match for bouncing between the lower leagues. Yet, everyone waxes lyrical about their 'fantastic' support - what, 30,000 in a one club city of over 700,000 people & an even bigger metropolitan area? Especially as they've enjoyed many periods of sustained success.

I would love to see how 'fantastically' supported the likes of Leeds United, Derby County and Leicester City would be if Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea were a quick tube ride away and West Ham, Charlton and Crystal Palace directly competed for their support.

Poor!! Small. But, not poor!
Spot on...take away Leeds large out of town support aswell,it makes their support from a large local catchment area look even poorer...They do like their Rugby though,so do have to compete with that...althoigh RL is now a summer sport.

To be fair, I can only go on what the government defines as the city of Leeds and that's 781,700; with the metro area at 2.4m.

Missing the point mate.

Poor as in low, not as in you should get more.

Just what I’ve been telling Loiners for years!!!

Not sure why 3-5-1-1 is totally insane.

I am looking forward to see what their definition of “Total Football” is as well.

Clearly not that 'total' HG as they struggle to get near to 40% possession in most games.
Very effective when they have the ball though I suppose.

I will go against the grain here and say that I've always liked Millwall. Just cos they have always had more than their fair share of nob heads shouldn't detract from the fact that they are a working man's club with passionate local support.

My mate who's a long standing Blade (we were in the forces together in our youth) went to work down there years ago and never came back up north as he loved the place and the local people. Good luck to em - apart from tomorrow when I hope we rip em a new un. Pals coming up north again with a minibus of em. He likes the Wall but his blood still runs true. He will probably slot a few of his mates in the service station bogs on the way up north. Good lad.

Playing 352 would be utterly insane apparently.
Do they not know we’ve played it for the last 2 seasons

Who's looking forward to the Millwall Farting Song,it has no words, its just an irritating noise that eminates from their fat arseholes......:fattwat:

!
To be fair mate, if we are unable to beat you tomorrow this is why I will be routing for you until the end of the season !

you could say the same for Manchester..

Nothing funnier than this:

“Hope Sheffield United fans are embarrassed by their clubs ticket allocation for Millwall fans on Saturday.”

Er, try SYPD and SAG?
have they been given a small allocation?

I assume they'll get the whole lower tier with the side gangway's blanked with covers to try and keep fans apart - circa 2000

Don't see how we can give any more than that given that we have over 20,000 season ticket holders

Not really. Manchester is a city and metropolitan borough which officially has a population of about half a million, like Sheffield. When people say Manchester, they are usually referring to Greater Manchester. Leeds, however, has managed to make itself into the "greater" part without any distinction. I find it quite ridiculous and goes totally against what people consider a city. According to Wiki, the metropolitan population of Sheffield is 1.5 million. I'm not sure what that includes, but clearly not just the city. Leeds has taken that and called it all the City of Leeds. Why do they do it differently? It makes no sense and doesn't help when people just blindly accept what the government tells them to think.

Only got 1600 odd

Only got 1600 odd
If I understand correctly, the police limit it, so they only get 1600, which means there is much more chance of people travelling without tickets, who will then probably fail to get into the ground and spend the time roaming the city centre pissed off. As opposed to letting them have as many as they can sell and then simply making sure that getting to and from the match is well organised and controlled, hopefully without the use of trams. But then I suppose the intelligent ones at SYP have all been sent to the Old Bailey to tell a jury that ol' Cliff is a bastard and needed taking down a peg or two.

This.

Never understood this limiting tickets nonsense - only people it impacts is normal fans.

They did it to us when we played West Ham one season. Limiting us to 2,800 tickets in a stand holding 7,500 (kept free of West Ham fans). Upton Park is 3 tube stops from Bermondsey - did they really think people wouldn't chance it? Normal fans missed out on tickets, yet 1,000+ hooligans simply turned up & were let in after some nonsense outside.
