I am not one to criticise players often at all and always try to look at the positives but seriously - the last few times Clayton Donaldson has come of the bench for us he has looked truly dreadful. The way he ran around last night coming off the bench - the lad didn't know whether he was coming or going. Not a clue.

We now seem to have a player that matches his £50k transfer fee vs. the player that turned out against Sunderland & Villa.

Our front line needs work in the summer as a priority - can't imagine for a second he will stay with us.

BUT - if he scores the winner on Sat against Millwall = signing of the century.

He was on the pitch for 4 minutes. I'm not sure what you're expecting.

not been overly impressed recently but overall for the season and what he has contributed (so far ....maybe more !) i think he has been a good addition for the money
vital goals at Norwich, Sunderland and Villa

I'm not sure why Billy never gets a run out as a sub . For me his movement and goal scoring threat is missed and would give defenders something different to think about

Think the reason why Donaldson gets on a late sub instead of Sharp is because when we’re defending a lead
We’re tending to sit back, defend in numbers then go more direct on the counter attack.

Donaldson has more pace than Sharp and more height/ strength to hold up the ball.

If we were attacking more pinning the opposition back
and needed a goal, then I reckon Sharp would be a better option than Donaldson.

After his wonderful goal against Norwich I was all for chucking him another year on his contract. Now all of a sudden he looks spent but admittedly it is hard to judge on a few cameos.

Shame he isn't a few years younger, but then he wouldn't have cost 50K.

Don is done at this level. Seemed to run into the wall about 2 months ago

Only a few more games left this season why not try to get behind the bloke and give him a bit of support for once, he probably will not be here next season I don't see what criticising will achieve. You all won't be moaning if he scores to put us in the play off's. Good or bad we can't make squad changes till summer so we go with what we've got.

Sick of hearing our own fans criticise Donaldson before he’s even come on the pitch. He got brought on for the last 5/10 min last night for a reason. He adds pace and strength up top for the last 10.

At one point last night one of their centre halves managed to get passed him and fans were slating him, yet brooks did the exact same thing 10 min earlier and no one battered an eye lid.

Your right - I will not be moaning if he puts us in the play-offs, not one bit - hense why I said ;

I will still get behind him whenever he plays - just voicing my humble opinion on this forum... who would've thought I would do such a thing?!
However - when posting this I never anticipated running into the brick wall of positivity that is yourself.

Sorry pal.

Battered eye lids? They're not serving fancy foreign food at the Lane now, are they?

He has scored some crucial goals this season and was unlucky the other week against Brentford as Bentley pulled off some decent saves. You never know which Donaldson you are going to get when he comes on as a sub.

Sadly most our strikers are over 30 and it shows in some of their performances lately. I think Sharp, Donaldson and Clarke are a bit burnt out and are not firing on all cylinders.

All three of them would be strikers you would have on the bench rather than start matches next season if they are still here.

Donno goes up top when subbed on, Clarke drops in behind, maybe an effort to keep the opposition defenders pinned further back due to pace in behind. Sharp would not have this affect.

He's been a valuable signing. He's scored vital goals and we would've been much worse off without him.

He does seem to have hit a wall recently though and seems either dozy or lazy, like for example when he allowed the ball to drop to the Cardiff defender unchallenged, which led to their goal.

He's likely to be released.

I think Wright and Holmes are the other two with question marks over them, aside from the more obvious ones who'll be leaving. Both could be surplus next season.

You dont post very often on here do you pal? Don't think I have ever been called positive before ........ don't know whether to take that as an insult. It says aa lot when I call someone out for unfair criticism of our players now is not the time fir scapegoats for all their faults they have done well this season time we got behind them for the last few games.

He’s shot now imo but been an absolute bargain as far as I’m concerned. What did we expect from a 50k 34 year old?

Dare I say it... I doubt anyone who travels to away games doesn’t appreciate the job he’s done.

Scored winning goals away at Sunderland and Norwich as well as earning us valuable points at Norwich and Derby.

He’s not done much at home, but certainly no Higdon.

Completely agree with this, I think Sharp could be the better option at home. But for some reason away from home the don does offer us something different. To the point where I would potentially start him with Clarke or instead of Clarke (Resting) for the Brum game.

Would have liked Donaldson here in his heyday serious player at this level
Could never criticise a player for cameo appearances.
Whatever happens thanks Clayton for Sunderland and Villa two of the seasons highs

And away at villa after been 2-0 down in ten mins and he made it 2-2. He hasn't looked his best the last few games he has got on but there is no doubt for 50k and at 34 he has been a decent signing for us and got us some points we needed. Seems to play better away from home for some reason and seems to be able to find more room to be able to get in behind defenders away from home. I still think he will get some game time before the end of the season and I think he will score a crucial goal what earns us points before the season is over but we will see.

It's already scripted.

He scores the winner at Birmingham!

Seems to have come in as a stop gap and not done too bad a job. Fingers crossed we (Wilder) has the funds available to move on from such players over the summer.

Gets tin hat ready...

I think I'd rather have Ched than Donaldson on the bench.

He's not really added anything in the last few cameos and he's missed some absolute gems which would have put us in contention.

Wilson also looks a bit weak and that one goal aside vs Norwich, he doesn't add a great deal. His scoring record vs Brighton was pretty abject too.

Ched seemed to be just getting into it at Ipswich and he is more mobile than Donaldson and stronger than Wilson. If you want a poacher you'll send Billy on first anyway. If you want some trickery you've got Holmes and Duffy. I'd say Donaldson is pretty much done at this level now.
