Ched Evans Signs [Confirmed]

But nothing is actually coming out of the club about this... it's pointless getting your knickers in a twist over press speculation and hearsay. A lot of the time, the deal was either agreed or forgotten about weeks ago by the clubs, but the constant recycling of stories by the press makes it seem like a long back and forward process.

The club will only say something when someone has signed... and rightly so.

You choose what to believe from the rest. I'd say that anyone who believes everything they read in the papers to be the foolish ones... definitely not a case of the club treating people like they are.

In the press again......

Manchester City striker Ched Evans, 20, is expected to join Sheffield United for a fee of around £1.5m rising to £3m on appearances.

Will he make an appearance at Chesterfield tonight I wonder?

Call me an old cynic, but until I read on the official site that he has signed I will hold my breath.

Oh dear! Just the second of a group of hugely talented players who will be forced out the door (or spend key years on the bench) at City now that they have more money than sense and the pressure to be successful immediately.

First Daniel Sturridge who, amazingly, could see more chance of getting in the Chelski team than City's. Now Ched Evans! Next up will be Nedum Onouha and Joe Hart, then eventually Stephen Ireland and Micah Richards!

Goodness knows what will happen to all the future stars in City's successful academy. They're unlikely to ever see the first team now that every signing costs £15m minimum and a Champions League place is a necessity.

Trust me City supporters, your club is not your own anymore and you will see no more local heroes, only the players your owners want to boost the club's profile.

Enjoy it until the shine wears off, which it will!

From that Daily Mail article..

Heard Evans is a possilbity to go to you.

Also got a text saying that Ryan France (who was on trial at us) is rumoured to be going to you.

I watched the U21 tournament this summer but Onouha and Richards looked like a Titus Bramble duo... They were immobile and looked clueless against the classy german strikers. And they gave more freekicks than Morgs!

If they're the future England centre Halves then I predict Jags and Killa to be playing next year with Kyle and Kyle at full backs :)

Agreed it will be a total former SUFC back four for england soon enough.

SSN are reporting we've agreed a 3 million fee with City for Ched Evans

As soon as it's on the OS.... we'll pop this over to confirmed :)

its on sky sports at the moment. so it shouldnt be long now :D

Just recieved an offical SUFC text.....

Blades set to unveil Man City striker Ched Evans, 20, as new signing
in deal that may reach £3m. Glen Little & Julian Gray also set to join.

:)

Hey,

So you've signed Ched Evans! Good player, but was never going to make the grade at City, particularly in the light of recent events. But this is a good signing for you, he will certainly get you goals in the Championship. He's strong, and a good aerial present. But he would never have been given a chance at City, and put simply he wasn't prolific enough at the top level. I'm pleased that he's gone to be honest, but I still feel this is money well spent for you; a strong spearhead for your attack. Best of luck this season.

Thanks mate, and the very best to you too. From what you've seen, is he just a target man, or can he play more?

Been called up again...

New Sheffield United striker Ched Evans has been included in Wales' Under-21 squad for the 12 August Uefa U21 qualifying clash against Hungary.

The match at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground (1930 BST) is on the same day as the senior Wales friendly against Montenegro in Podgorica.

Evans is joined by fellow full Wales caps Joe Allen and Andy King.

Wales U21 manager Brian Flynn has named an 18-man squad for the game, with nine more players on standby.

Anyone know why he hasnt played in the friendlies?

Our guess is that seeing as Wardy is suspended, Henderson is injured and Billy Sharp may be being sold... he's being saved for the season.

He isn't fit apparently and is on a special program to get him up to speed.

Surely it's better to get him integrated into the team though?

Not if he isn't fit/gets injured :)

That'd leave us with Cotts or Robertson starting up front i'd imagine.

Unless of couse whoever we are going to bring in (Lita?) is in for the Boro match.

He is just not fit, no one is saving him, it would be far better for him to play and get used to new team mates surely?

"Evans missed the trip to Sincil Bank to concentrate on his conditioning.

Blackwell hopes he will be available for selection against Gareth Southgate's side.

"Circumstances mean that Ched still has plenty of work to do," Blackwell admitted.

"I want to stress it's not his fault or City's but, because of things that were happening there, including people coming in, he got pulled off one or two trips to try to sort out his own transfer."

Might as well not play him at all then ;)

I'm sure you'd be happy with Mr Blackwell if our new £3mil striker was out for the first month of the season because we played him in a pre-season friendly against Lincoln City mate :D

It's a risk you take, otherwise there's no point in signing anyone.

Thats a silly thing to say. If we sign someone on the 31st August we can't play them in pre-season friendlies either. I'd rather have him upfront s Middlesbrough than Lincoln

I agree I'd rather see them up front against Middlesborough, but if we are going to be thinking that we may lose players every time they go out, we may as well not buy anyone.

Why do they have pre-season friendlies? To gain fitness and get players to gel.....

Surely to benefits of not risking him outweigh the benefits of giving him 90 minutes against Lincoln?

They are working all week behind closed doors which will help fitness/them to gel.

With the only other current options for Boro being Sharp and Robertson, one of which we want out of the club, would it really be sensible to risk him on a rainy night against Lincoln? It can happen at any time granted, but with us able to give him time on the pitch in more controlled circumstances this week is it not just a sensible decision?
