We wanted a change of ST to the upper tier from the Kop so were undecided as to what to do now because we’ve had enough of the facilities and getting out of the ground at the end of a game from the Kop, it’s shambolic.
You can still get a ST in the Bramall Lane corner. Just get one as far over as possible

So have Manchester United got 'their heads in the sand'? They're looking at slashing ST prices and introducing a 'safe standing area' to improve the 'sterile atmosphere' at OT. And that's with 75k+ crowds.

I admire your enthusiasm, Ricky. But the days of widespread chanting etc. have gone the way of Sky's 'Super Sunday', 'Marvellous Monday' etc. Too many other things to do nowadays.

I wasn't talking about any other clubs. But Man Utd's problem is more publicised and they actually have supporters groups who aren't just a complete waste of space. So they'll be heard and the club will pay attention.

There are still plenty of passionate football fans. There's no reason things can't get better. But these fans need to get their heads round the fact that they have to be proactive for that to happen.

The biggest myth is that the atmosphere at Bramall Lane is any worse than at other All Seater stadiums in the Championship. Look at Deepdale on TV today

Until legislation changes and standing areas can be brought back that isn’t going to change.

Ooh no you can't say accurate sensible things like that.

We must lambast our support as utterly shit. Trying to create a better atmosphere isn't enough, we must take every opportunity to slag ourselves off and criticise the club and Wilder for not saying so too.

Is being 'no worse than other all seater stadiums' something to be content with? Didn't we used to be better than most?

I've been to every game this season and plenty of all seater grounds have been louder than Bramall Lane.

All seaters aren't ideal but it's a very poor excuse in most instances.

A possible solution if the club felt it needed to improve the atmosphere would be move the family’s out of the Kop corner stand into JohnStreet and set that up as the “singing section” for want of a better description.

I thought the fundamental problem with Ricky’s BLUT idea was many people see that as the traditional away end.

The Kop corner could also be the perfect area for a trial Safe Standing section.

How many "safe standing" places were you thinking Ricky ? If i'm not mistaken, everyone on the back 6 rows of the kop stands up, which equates to around 1-1.2K fans ? Even with that many standing, it's still dead most of the game (save for the first 3 or 4 mins)

It just seems so utterly stupid people will disregard the better view and acoustics because 'it's the away end'. People have to see the bigger picture and see what it could be. Not just what it is now.

The chances of SYP and SAG getting behind a safe standing trial at any ground in this region is between zero and zero.

It will need legislation from Central Government that they can’t overrule

Agreed. The Kop and South Stand H block have for years been the areas where most vocal fans go - so they seem the obvious areas to focus on rather than spreading such fans more thinly around the ground. The acoustics on our outdated Kop are crap but filling in the Kop corner would help.

Football fans are a little bit stupid though, and they don’t like change. They also know that United are not going to be attacking that end 80-90 % of the the second halves.

Not even 100 seats! But I wasn't pushing it as a standing area. Doing that would harm our cause with the sorry excuse of a 'police force' we have in this region. Standing = death, obviously. "Because Hillsborough".

I think that you would be better off fighting for a safe standing area, maybe on the Kop. The only reason that this isn’t even considered is because clubs want to keep working class fans at a minimum. Let people stand and the singers will congregate there. Personally I would take all the seats out for 15 rows from the back, make it ‘safe’ standing and create some atmosphere.

Have been to far more than I’ve missed Ricky but I’m struggling to think of many who have really stood out other than Wolves who were top of the and been on the piss all afternoon. Every club has had a least a few home games where the atmosphere has been good. Brentford at home for example?
Not knocking your efforts by the way. Good luck with them

Well that or because they have to satisfy the SAG in order to be able to host a fixture... It isn't permitted in the league we play in, It vastly reduces capacity in the same footprint and costs to rejig/install.

They won't even consider standing areas currently. Especially in this region thanks to our scared, pathetic police force / SAG.

It's something that has to be considered and factored in to any extension of the Kop though. The back 20+ rows could be standing. The problem there is the singers would be even further from the pitch than they already are.

Renewed! Premiership here we come COYRAWW.

I was thinking clubs in general rather than SUFC, if the clubs pushed for it then it is viable. Didn’t realize that it would reduce the attendance but haven’t explored the idea too deeply

Further away but generating good noise if the acoustics are good

Maybe the 'best fans in the land' could inconvenience themselves to actually make a little bit of noise, other than moaning and idiotically shouting 'shoot!' every time one of our players comes within 40 yards of the opposition goal, is off balance, stationary or facing a human wall of opposition defenders within five yards of him?

The proposed 'safe standing' areas make it difficult due to cost of installation and capacity reduction. It's all so over sanitised, unnecessary and pointless. It wouldn't even be a compelte solution for stadium atmospheres anyway.

Why they don't simply trial standing areas in the current seated areas I don't know. It's what basically happens at every ground in the country already - with no deaths yet reported. Then over time seats could be taken out and rails installed.

Renewed. Just need a job now to pay for it. Last year at full price, pensioners special here I come.

That's all we need, another bloody season of your whinging :D

Why? At least he is trying to do something about the utterly embarrassing atmosphere at Bramall Lane this season.

And it is just that, embarrassing.

He is and I admire him for it and have said so. However, the atmosphere, thank God, is nowhere near as embarrassing as your continual anti club/ anti supporters posts. If it was, there'd be about 250 there.
