A very good piece about managing in the non league and I'm not sure how many other 'big' ex Premier players would consider rolling their sleeves up:

As far as I know he's still a Blade, but of course please feel free to let me know that it is 'not Blades related' or that he 'is a twat'.

Just read the same thing myself, he comes across well.

More ex-players (particularly the ones bemoaning a lack of opportunities) should try to cut their teeth this way.

Yeah he was a bit of a dirty twat the last time I saw him. but fuck it if he's a blade he's one of us I bare him no Ill will . Hope he does well as I quite like Southport as a club to

Used to like him at Southampton with Beattie, had no idea he was a Blade!

He was born in Sunny Sheff and on our books as a schoolboy, but we released him and he came through at Chessie.

IIRC, one of the first things he did when he was on decent Premiership money, was to buy his mum a bungalow at Lodge Moor.

He's always been a 'difficult' opponent when I've seen him against us (Bolton & Preston) and you have to hand it him for making the most from limited ability.

I think he's still a Blade athough if we put up a 'Is Kevin Davies a twat' poll, he may decide otherwise.

Yes, he's a blade.

He used to live up the road from me on Kennedy Road at Woodseats. Bit younger than me so I didn't know him though.

I read the article earlier, but couldn't help wonder how long he'll actually last there.

Shame about the break in at Southport's ground.
Similar thing happened at the sty some years back. Club official was asked if any cups were stolen.
He replied that the miscreants didn't go into the canteen.

Very old joke..... add tumbleweeds if you think fit.

He had a lengthy interview on Radio Sheffield about a year ago, think it was the day before our big promotion match against Bolton Wanderers at Bramalll Lane.

He admitted he was a big Blade as a kid and is still very much a fan
but he also admitted that he has a lot of loyalty and feeling towards Bolton Wanderers too.
He said that his kids (I’m sure he said he has 2 kids) grew up as Bolton fans and still support them.

So he said he had split loyalties and would love to see both clubs promoted from league 1.
He said as an ex player he still gets invited back to the Reebok (for various reasons) quite often.
I know about 15 years ago he lived in that big bungalow in Lodge Moor (or maybe it was his mums) not sure if he’s left now.

Kevin's late dad, Cyril, is back row 5th from left playing for GB Deaf in the 1965 Deaflympics at Washington DC. GB lost 3-1 to Yugoslavia in the final. Cyril had a trial with Wendy in the late 1950s and played for Birley Amateurs that was managed by Derek Dooley in the early 1960s. He played for Sheffield Deaf for many years

I like him because he's a blade at heart. I've also seen a good TV interview a few weeks ago when he took the job at southport just down road from where I live. UTB
