I love football. Never bring replays in for everything.

Refs ruin everyone's weekend at some point but it's a rite of passage to go fucking mental about it afterwards!

He wasn't corrupt, he just favoured the players he has heard of. He's obviously weak willed and unsuitable but in his head I'm sure he was honest. The price for match fixing is jail!

Thoroughly enjoyed this result. I've just moved to Hillsborough, a stone's throw from the sty, and although it took me over half an hour to get home from Sainsbury's yesterday, sitting smugly in traffic on Penistone Road, watching all their sad sulky faces, made it all worthwhile. I might start a "PigWatch" so I can regularly enjoy watching 556 million people looking so miserable after ANOTHER crushing home defeat

They weren’t complaining last week away at Barnsley.

Joio went down easily in the box and the ref gave it.
The Barnsley player goes down easily in the 2nd half and the ref doesn’t give it.
Looking at the replays both were probably not penalties.

Barnsley were the better team on the day but the ref helped SW gain a fortunate point.
Assume they’ve forgot about when they get the dodgy decisions.

One of the clearest penalties I've ever seen. Not that I don't sympathise with wanting to wipe Snodgrass out like that.
Staton said on the radio ,he couldn't understand what the ref had given !!

I watched their highlights. Deffo a pen. Snodgrass plays it past the man, the guy actually steps forward into him, Snodgrass then goes down slightly theatrically, but in order to run on he would have had to cut himself in two.

Having said that, 16 fouls to 1 in a tight match is so lop-sided that I tend to agree that favouritism looks likely on the face of it.

What's with those posts asking for an enquiry and some demanding a petition to force it? Would they be the same wankers who a few years ago were saying we should accept we lost our Premiership place by results on the pitch and not to use the courts?

Fuck em, I hope they get relegated by a single goal.

He's got a point about Tevez but it's a bit rich to blame the masons for conspiring against SWFC. The brotherhood protected the club and the FA after the Hillsboro disaster .

Well they run all the other big clubs that desperately want the Pigs back in the PL. Don't tell me they've turned their back on the Massive?

One of the posts is calling for a Panarama investigation. :D:D

I have the misfortune to be accosted by a Wednesday 'fan' every Sunday lunchtime. He hasn't been since the Pele game (where he got in for free) but retains the delusional self-belief that affects all Wendyites. His one topic of conversation is football which is strange as his sum knowledge of the sport would fit on the sharp end of a pin. He often alludes to being 'once involved in football' (think Brian The Blade). He claims to have taught (among others) Billy Sharp and Chris Wilder 'everything they know'. He once said that 'he (Lionel Messi) wouldn't have got a touch against Lawrie Madden'....

After their rare win against Derby, he told me that his (idiot) son had been, rang him afterwards and said he was 'welling up with pride', 'almost in tears' etc. at Wendy's performance etc. That's what these cunts are like. All of them.

Anyway, yesterday lunchtime, me and some friends were discussing things (particle physics as I recall) and this moron (who, incredibly, used to teach sport - or 'games' as I tell him when I want to piss him off) was hovering, just waiting to butt in with his one-and-only subject. He started with 'I see in The Sunday Times (he's one of those po-faced fuckers who thinks he's flaunting his intellectually-superior knowledge by actually pointing out his organ of choice) that there's talk of launching an enquiry into the ref. in the Villa game'. Now most of my friends are too polite and nod as in agreement. That way, he thinks he's got a point. Not I.

I pointed out that Wendy had a deeply-supicious penalty (Jaoa) at their neighbours Barnsley, and Swansea were refused a clear penalty when Tammy Abraham was flattened. Warming to my theme, I said 'What is it with you people? United lose and we just get on with it. You cunts lose - again - and you want a fucking stewards enquiry.'

He looked shocked.

To be fair Robbie, Wendy know their subject. They invented corruption in the modern game.

My Wendy mate said the player didn’t appeal, his team mates didn’t appeal, no fan could see what it was for.

I watched the highlight expecting to see a cross in to the box and maybe a subtle shirt tug. I saw an assault. I can only assume no one appealed because it was so clearly a pen.

Wow!

All I can think if that if Staton only saw it live, and was following the ball, that maybe he didn't see it. But that seems unlikely.

You're so right about this and I find it a very strange phenomena which seems to be peculiar to them.

I've got two Wednesday acquaintances who will openly admit that they've not been to watch them since the 70's, that they can only name two players in the current squad but who can explain to me in great detail why they lost their last match, which is always because they had the worst referee ever to set foot on a football pitch and / or the fact that they had 17 key players injured.

I've got other acquaintances who support Donny, Barnsley, Rotherham and Chesterfield and they never come out with all that shit, so what is it about Wendies ?

Answers on a postcard.

Are they really questioning that penalty decision? The complete body check in the box which would be a foul anywhere else on the pitch.

I reckon Villa won more free kicks during their match because Villa players dive all the fucking time. So it's not entirely surprising.

Well I attended on Saturday.

Wednesday didn't lose the match because of the ref.

It's because defensively they aren't good enough at present, and because of the first-teamers who are out.

Villa are no great shakes either, as they weren't in the first encounter in November.

They were crap at the Lane too.

A fully fit Wednesday side wouldn't have lost on Saturday, as they didn't earlier this season (1-2).

I didn't like it when Brucelosis embraced the ref.

Having just seen it, I agree entirely with your assessment.

As to your Wendy pal's reaction, that should have come as no surprise. In my many years of trying to discuss football with them ( not easy, since most of them know the square root of fuck all ) I have learned that ,in their opinion, for a penalty to be legitimately given against them their player has to commit an act of GBH on an opposition player with the ball at least 10 yards away then follow it up with a spot of buggery, and even then it's a borderline case.

Anything less is the result of a vile conspiracy against their wonderful club organised and promoted by the FA / the Referees Association/ the Freemasons / Maggie Thatcher or any one of a number of others.

'Twas always thus.
