Just been on talksport news, Everton have bid 5 million.

Wonder what's going to happen, chance to play with Jags, in Prem, loads of dosh, I've got a feeling management are going to let him go......he hasn't even completed a full season yet!

The bid is 3.5 mill that could rise to 5. Its just typical that we'll sell our best player who we need for next season, especially when blackwell is only looking for players who arn't good enough for a mid-table nevermind promotion!

We havent sold him yet. And the bid has been rejected.

I read elsewhere we told them to increase the offer. Not that my opinion counts for shit but I'd be happy with £6 mill+, I think Naysmith is preferred on the left (when fit) so we have the two Kyles fighting out for the same right full back position. They are both amazing players, I'd say Naughton looks a bit more dangerous in possession but Walker looks the better defender. If you were to force me to chose between the two I'd probably plump for Walker.

£3.5 is too low though. £6m (+) for a championship full back with no premier league experience and only 1 season played would seem like good business to me. Especially as we don't need to buy a replacement so the money can (presumably) be spent strengthening elsewhere.

I'd hope we weren't in a rush to sell... no decent bits of business have been done yet so there's no need to show our hand early.

What he said.

I personally thought that we would sell for around £3.5 million, so if rumours are to be believed then it looks like we are being offered that as a straight payment with extras included and it's been rejected.

However, I still think £3.5 million would be a good price, but with an offer first coming in on that, then I would hold out for me, with a good sell on clause.

Given the inflated prices some players have been getting, and comparing Naughton with (eg) Glen Johnson and what he's now valued at - £3.5 mill isn't enough. Should be nearer £5 mill as starting price, with sell-on clause. If we don't need to sell, we shouldn't do unless it's a really really good deal.

Whatever the price is - it has to be higher than that Man City want for Evans. At the end of the day Evans doesn't have a future at City and they need to cash in - Kyle has a virtually guaranteed first team slot with us, and we don't have to sell. If we do decide to let Kyle go we should cover any price City ask - and have change left over.

During my visit to Bramall Lane last week, I popped a question on the Naughton situation to a staff member and was told that the price tag is 7 million.

But I still think that the club should do all possible to keep him for at least another season.

Selling him with an immediate loan-back for a season would be an option, or doing the kind of deal we had with Jags where if we don't go up he could leave in a year if someone offers at least an agreed price.

Trouble is, he's getting so damn good he could probably get a starting place at some prem clubs straight away.

howdy KL, sorry missed you at wembley. i have it rumoured its a done deal, and its to Man utd!! thats a big WOW factor for the lad and club.

Its second hand info but from a manager not linked to any local club, it is of course only a rumour until its all signed up.

What a great deal if its true and comes off.

Im not arsed if its Man u, Villa, Everton or whoever. Its got to be the right deal for OUR club and player.

Sounds good

If he is signed by a club like Man Utd, then I'm sure we could all be proud and wish him the very best but on the downside, it might be difficult for him to play regular first team football.

You see, this could easily be reversed.

It might be that we NEED to sell, even though he has a guaranteed first team place - perhaps we need to get in some money before we can spend any, or even to manage finances....

We all know that Man City don't need to sell anyone. They're now the richest club in the world. They could just leave him making the occasional sub appearance.

True - but if we trust the statements coming out of BDTBL saying were are financially stable even allowing for loss of parachute payments (let alone the rumours about Blackwell only staying on condition that he didn't have to sell Kyle) - then anyone bidding for Kyle is entering a sellers market and we can virtually name any price we like (especially if a bidding war starts). Clubs bidding for Evans on the other hand are pretty much in a buyers market. If Evans isn't in City's plans they should cash in now before his value drops through lack of first team appearances.

My original point was that if we do have to lose Kyle, then in this situation we should be able link City's asking price to ours for Kyle, and come out quids in.

But - as you say - that does depend on how finacial stable we really are :) - And whether Man C are another club who believe real world economics don't include them. Sod it - it's only a couple of million quid!

If its Manchester Utd perhaps we could get a good young player in on loan too...Macahda up front!?

We want to keep him, We sold jags for 4m and after 2 seasons he`s there player of the season. if he goes it really needs to be around 7m

We've got to hold onto him. If we can hold onto our back 5 (Kenny, Naysmith, Morgs, Killa, Naughton) as well as Walker i think we should have a good chance next year. Even with the "Peoples Favourite" Blackwell in charge.

We've got a Good solid defence. Probably the best in the division.

Then all we need is a creative Midfielder.... Don't know much about Williamson??

And of course we need a 15-20 goal man. Not sure where we'll find him though. That James Beattie at Stoke looks like a good player mind you!

If we can find the striker and midfielder i think we're in for an exciting season. Be interesting how Lupoli will perform if we sign him, think he and Ward could be the surprise package next year. Just my humble opinion though

The whole thing will will be out of United's hands. Think about it realistically, if a £6-7m offer comes in for a player with one season under his belt, can they refuse it? He might be another Wayne Quinn, Lee Morris et al (personally, I think if he moves to the right club he'll be playing in the world cup next summer).

Then there is the player, yes he is a total Blade and is playing for his team. Most of us will say I'd stay, nothing would tempt me to move away. Easy from here, more difficult with the prospect of being a multi-millionaire within a few years dangled under your nose.
A 20 year old offered a salary of about £1m a year is either very brave or very foolish to turn it down. Logically he stays for another season or two and then makes his big move. But he might get a bad injury 8 games into next season and that's him finished.

There isn't a bigger Blade than me (in all ways!), but if I was in his position and someone offered me £15,000 a week more than United, I'd probably accept it...and if you're totally honest, so would most of you!
