Work in progress i suppose,this i think will scupper any play off chance we had.

Really? He's getting a reputation for slagging off the opposition after a loss. He gives the odd bit praise here and there, but don't think it's any way gratuitous.

I personally think we only needed one of Evans or Leonard. And not entirely sure we needed Holmes, though Brooks' illness pretty much forced our hand there.

Either way, I'm more than happy to have plenty of options given it was Coutts injury that knocked us right off form and without someone to come in and perform a like for like job.

Not for me. He says it as he sees it. Bolton and Norwich he slagged oppo off. Millwall for example he blamed ourselves

Wilder hasn’t created a problem by bringing those 3 in at all. We were sliding down the table quicker than Katie Prices knickers and since we signed Evans and Leonard we’ve won as many as we have since Coutts got injured. And played very well for a game and a half of that.

I think Wilder is talking up our opposition because some of our fans fail to realise, that it's not a level playing field, we're competing against better teams and we have no divine right to be beating everyone we play.

He’s brought in 3 good midfielders because at the start of the season we relied upon just 3 without suitable depth or back up for injuries/suspensions. We now have they and as proven last night Evans is a good signing, and I’m sure Leonard and Holmes will prove to be as well.

He’s bigging the opposition up because they are good! It’s not rocket science. Villa’s defence last night was very strong and did excellent work to keep us out, but when you have a serial title winner and the ex England captain at the heart of it then it’s to be expected.

He is right in what he is saying. They are a powerhouse in the league and they do have players that are good enough for the premier league. It's taking the pressure off the players in defeat. Let's be right, we're in a great position for the end of January, we somehow need to get a result at Wolves now and beat Leeds. It will be tough but we keep going.

Had we been 18th like our wage bill suggests we should be, we would laud that performance against a top team as fantastic and count ourselves unlucky not to get at least a point.

The players will have been really down after the game. A good way of trying to pick them up is by saying something like "I'm really proud of how the lads have competed, and at times dominated the game, against a much more expensive, much more experienced team."

Don't think it's any more than that.

Don't think his team talk would've been "Bloody hell lads, these have got some big names, it's going to be a right struggle."

I totally agree with wilder's reaction to last night. I sometimes get the feeling that some fans are thinking it's like last season playing fleetwood ect. We should be beating everyone. Last night we played against a very experienced villa side. It's not like we've had 2 seasons in the championship compared to other teams and should be used to this level of football?. We've just spent 6 years in league 1!!FFS. We currently sit 7th in the championship despite a wobble over the last few weeks!!. I'm going to keep positive and see what the rest of the season has to bring. IMHO. In wilder we trust. Utb

completely agree we must keep positive, still a great season and a great opportunity to get 6th

we must though ..... close down players outside the box / start being quicker upfront again and maybe give some a rest -Leon/Stevens and let others come back in - Sharp /Duff/ laffety and the new lads need time to settle in so maybe shouldnt be starting as yet ( Len and Wilson ) thought Evans was impressive though and he should be starting as has settled in straihght away IMO ,



i wondered last night what CW would do a 0-0 and IMO he went to keep it solid in midfield as appose to bringing on Duff man or Holmes earlier

looking back i think it was just really frustrating (again ) we do keep missing too many chances and getting stung by wonder goals -

Agree. It was a tight game that was decided by a quality shot from a player that got the better of a LWB who was playing in L2 last season, against a team captained by a bloke who's won the champions league and managed by an old woman who's won several promotions from the championship.

What a joy it was that season to visit Anfield, Old Trafford, White Hart Lane, St James' Park.... and who can ever forget that afternoon at Villa Park.

Wonderful memories with a truly humble man at the helm.
