Poor defending but we have been poor tonight, especially second half. They came and did what all promotion contenders do, grab 1-0 away wins.

Completely disagree. We were by far the better team in the first half and probably about even in the second apart from a shocking piece of defending from Stevens.

We deserved at least a draw.

last few weeks his attack paly has been slow and obvious, instead of fast and piercing like the first 3 months of the season. he needs a rocket !

I’m surprised Lafferty hasn’t had an opportunity. This system relies so heavily on quality in possession from the full back which has been missing from him recently.

Thought it was a new gay bar opening with the thread title.

Not cutting it at this level? thoughts?
I said after game 1 he wasn't good enough and continue to say it because he's done nothing to change my mind. He can't cross a ball and is poor defensively. Generally the only real weakness in the side IMO. Having said that, our strikers have normally been better than they were tonight.

Stevens should maybe have done better for the goal, but he was left two-on-one with Snodgrass running at him and Elmohamady on the overlap. Somebody should've got across/tracked the runner to help him out.

Obviously you show Snodgrass down the line, but with a runner outside we're still potentially in trouble.

Agree not totally to blame for the goal had 2 on 1 and body shape was to go for the player on the outside,
Runner not tracked, still lots for Snodgrass to do and hit a great shot into the corner.
How many more are we gonna concede from around edge of box?

There's much more coming from our right at the moment. Stevens is ok, but he's not getting the crosses in at the moment.

I like them both but Basham and Stevens are killing our attacking threat because of the system we play. Amazing how many times Basham gets in. Maybe we should stick Duffy at RCB.

Both Basham and Stevens started the season really well but you do wonder whether this is a step too far for them. I thought most of our players looked every bit like they belonged on the same pitch as Villa but Basham and Stevens both looked a bit out of their depth for me.

As soon as i saw the break i knew we were in the shit. We started leaving big holes in the middle of the park, and villa were overloading us on the wings.

When the goal came Stevens had been left to deal with two attacking players and I could see the danger coming from a mile off (I actually turned round to my lad and said 'were in trouble here'). He was damned either way. He either went with Snodgrass leaving the other lad to be slipped in on goal or get to the byline at least, or be went with the runner and tried to show Snodgrass inside with the hope that another Utd player would get across to block the shot.

Don't blame Stevens - he was left in the shit by his teammates not doing their jobs and helping him out by covering for him. Somebody clearly wasn' doing their job and that somebody wasn't Stevens. In fact if u watch the highlights you will see that it almost happened a couple of other times down our left hand side but on those occasions we got away with it either by luck or villas shit final ball.

My gripe with Stevens at the moment is his lack of running at defenders and his shocking balls/crosses in the attacking third. I'd prefer Lafferty at the moment. Bashams ball in the attacking third is also bloody awful more often than not.

Spot on.

stevens was at to fault for the goal. Letting snodgrass on his left in the box was dumb defending. which he must have been told about!
