We all remember some of the classics under the lights at the Lane, beating leeds in the league cup stands out for me.

Just wondered if other people had other hidden gems that aren't spoken of much anymore?! I remember as a teenager seeing Paddy Kenny really wind up the forest fans on a tuesday night with a great atmosphere, think we won 1-0. He most have pretended to take about 4 dummy goal kicks to the tune of 'you f*t bastard* #lovedit

I can’t really recall why, but beating Blackburn at home in around 2000 felt like a big deal at the time. Alan Kelly was in goal for them and made a huge error that allowed David Kelly (I think?) to score. Pretty sure Devlin scored a screamer and we won two nil. I think there was a petrol crisis at the time so bugger all crowd but the atmosphere was really good.

More significantly - and maybe doesn’t count as it was the afternoon, but it was dark by this point, alright - was the 2-0 win over Fulham not long after Warnock took over. It was around Christmas and felt like our biggest and most “up for it” crowd for a while and as though we were turning a corner. Devlin and Bent the scorers with two late goals in front of the Kop IIRC.

Possibly neither of these mattered in the slightest but they felt important to teenage me at the time :)

One more: a 3-3 draw with Barnsley in... 1997? 1998? On loan Alex Notman scored for us, pretty sure Shipperley scored a good goal for them along with a foreign striker whose name escapes me but felt like he scored a bucketload for them.

Marcus Bent equalised at the death after their defender messed up a back pass. I remember the Flashing Blade had an excellent picture of the moment a few weeks later, highlighting all the Blades fans giving a two fingered salute to the Barnsley players.

Was a hell of a game - think we went a goal down, a goal up, a goal down again and then bagged the late equaliser.

Nice thread idea by the way hardytm2004 - although perhaps you could put “forgotten” in flashing lights :)

Coming back from 2-0 down to beat West Ham in 1994 (I think). If we hadn't managed to get relegated shortly afterwards, people would remember it as a great game.

I watched the first half on the Kop and the second half on the south stand for some reason ;) :D

I remember a great atmosphere in warnocks promotion season , think it was reading at home (tues night) and paddy kenny saved a last minute pen to keep it 1-1. Should have won the match but nonetheless we both ended up getting promoted about 6 weeks later

From the mists of time, literally, February 1959 when we beat Arsenal 3-0 in an FA cup replay after a thrilling 2-2 draw at Highbury when I got drunk for the first time ever and had to be dragged across London to get the last train back to Sheffield.

The replay was played in some of the worst fog I've ever seen but the Blades produced a great performance in a terrific atmosphere at BDTBL. Happy days.

I used to like night games better than Saturday afternoons and from about 1988, they were the only games I could get to.

Some that haven't been mentioned that stick out for me :

5-1 v Grimsby (they were a league above) League Cup 1983 - Edwards hat-trick after coming on as sub.
3-0 v Newcastle League Cup 1988 - they were in First Division, we were in third. Deane scored twice.
4-0 v Northampton 1988
2-2 v Everton League Cup 1984. Edwards rounded Southall and tapped in.
1-0 v Arsenal League Cup 1981. We were in 4th and they were in 1st. Bob Hatton winner. Keith Waugh in goal had a blinder.

The Forest Play off is the obvious stand out.

Beating The Pigs with Browns wonder volley.

Beating Blackburn and Coventry in FA Cup quarter final replays..(games the good old FA in their wisdom have now scrapped)

I thought that they’d only been scrapped from semi final onwards?

SUFC 1:0 Liverpool in 1978
The official attendance was 36k yet not a place to sit was free and standing areas were rammed.

Sheffield United v Burton Albion under Adkins.

A weird 'anti' stand out for being THE worst Sheffield United performance I will ever see. I say will, because there is no way we could ever put in a performance worse than that in the future.

If you were one my fellow lucky souls there then you should get a commemorative badge for sitting through it. Shudder.
