When you get a draw at the lane

Funny to see that, despite all the bluster & bravado, the longest post-match thread over on porktalk (bar the usual "we took London Road" one) seems to be a heartbreaking, soulsearching thread about the deficiencies of Jordan Rhodes.

Looks like the generous reception we gave him when he went off has got to them a bit.

For a team that has spent as much as they have they are MASSIVELY underachieving.

Wasn't that their full strength team we dismantled in September so convincingly, with our under strength team?

How quickly they try and forget that fact

football is cyclic.. they have a spell.. we have a spell etc
the weird thing is that if they are ever in their ascendancy phase like for the last few years when they have been above us, we’ve all had to basically suck it up and say ‘ok you’re better than us at the moment but we’ll be back’ .. from them we got ‘you’ll never last in this league we’re massive’ etc etc
now we’re doing better than them they just can’t bring themselves to do the dignified thing which is made worse by all their bigging up over the years
they always carry off like this and that my friends is why they are a set of weapons grade c**ts

That's true but the depressing thing is is that we're at the top of our game, as most people have agreed, and their are at the bottom of theirs

They have had 6 years start on us in this league, there is more to come from our team under this manager and are pushing for a play off place this season ,they are involved in a relegation battle, despite the money they have spent/wasted,in what way is that depressing?

I don't think we are at the top of our game at the moment. We are a bit inconsistent.

Sometimes we look good - Bristol City, Aston Villa, Sunderland, Derby. Sometimes we are a bit mediocre - Millwall, Preston, Bolton, Wednesday.

Whichever way we look at it, losing Coutts has been a big blow. He is a huge player for us and we have had difficulty adjusting.

That said, our performances since his injury really should have earned us more points than we have achieved, even though there has been a drop off.

Just pointed out to my Wendy Brother in Law ..anybody can set a team up with 2 banks defenders and try and nick one on the break...we had 6 years of teams doing it in L1...He thinks they've turned the corner...can't see them doing that at home against teams, they'll have to be a bit braver....i tried to put him right on a few things, but they're all deluded.

I remember when they lost 1-0 to us when Quinn scored and they were absolutely delighted . No idea how they can claim they are the number one side in Sheffield when they are so happy simply because they don't get hammered. I'd love to know why they are so scared of us. Even I don't think United have ever been a team to fear like they seem to fear us.

It's weird because for me that was one of the most forgettable derbies in a long time. A couple of decent chances for both sides, neither played badly or that well. They can be happy that their manager got his tactics spot on, they stopped us and played some good direct football coming forward. They should be panning Loovens for making two absolutely stupid challenges that he didn't need to go for and made a complete hash of both, but generally happy with the way they controlled Duffy and stopped our wide play.

If anything all I feel is a bit flat that the big build up to a derby came to a scoreless draw. How it becomes a great underdog victory overnight is a mystery to me.

PIGS rattling on about how they could only field a 'Reserve XI', how Jos got his tactics worked out... blah, blah, blah....

He didn't make wholesale changes across the field, the only two different in their line-up from the previous match were Pudil & Rhodes...
Another myth banished...

NEXT...

How 75,000 turned out on a cold January Tuesday to watch The Pigs Reserves vs The Mighty Cumbrians...

Tbf, psychologically, they probably need to see the "12th of January massacre" as the long-awaited revenge for the 7-3, when they know that Forestieri's spending their *massive* ticket price increases whiling away his days on gorgeous Spanish beaches

Did you notice the Wendy players lobbing their shirts to the baying pigs at full-time?
Anyone would've thought they'd just won the champions league final.

I hope they checked to see if they had others available to wear in the coming weeks, after the problems they had earlier this season, before lobbing them into the celebrating Pigs.

Fully expecting a public appeal to follow....can we have our shirts back please...
