Something that's wound us up this season is our inability to shoot from reight far aht. Every other fucker who plays against us can do it, so why can't we?

Our attempts from far aht aren't even close, and are usually hilariously off target.

Our fannying about is often effective and beautiful to watch when it comes off, and I wouldn't change that. But sometimes you just need a player to shoot the football from reight far aht to grab you a goal in a tight match.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Leonard and Holmes in the team as both are good at shooting footballs from reight far aht.

Nathan Thomas looked ok last week.. Donaldson's goal away at Sunderland weren't bad. lundstram went very near on Friday and I think Fleck has put a few that way, most notably at the Sty.

Maybe more about our style to feed Billy and his fox in the box approach, matched with break em down through passing to create a chance for Leon.

Unless you mean REALLY far aht a la Rooney, Beckham, Ibrahimovic stylie?

Not really reight far aht just reight far aht.

Creating an opening from 20/25 yards should prove to be a viable way of scoring. Thomas' shot was beautiful, and Coutts put his foot through it out of instinct.

So yeah, we've scored a couple, but the amount of times we create a clear opening for a shot and it ends up screwed wildly over the bar is ridiculous.

You know those players who have scored against us from far aht? How often do they actually score from far aht? Might there be occasions when keeping possession is the better alternative to offering the opposition a free gift of a goal kick?

Contrary to popular S2 belief the vast majority of attempts from far aht gooovertbaroorwellwideotpost. By contrast, fannying about, otherwise known in more sophisticated circles as keeping the ball, starves the opposition of possession and eventually tiresdafuckasaht, to our significant advantage.

Drives me up the wall and largely did last season as well. A hard shot that bounces in an awkward place can create opportunities even if it doesn't go in.

I agree, the way we play on the whole is effective as fuck and we shouldn't drastically change anything. I was using the fannying abaht term affectionately as opposed to a knock about the way we play.

I know 35 yard screamers aren't a consistent goalscoring option. But, how we play does open up spaces from just outside the box where players should be hitting the target more frequently.

Last week Ball was bouncing all over and it was about Enda Stevens head height and everyone shouted shoot.

We do really have some morons.

YouTube Ricky’s Holmes and he does score some screamers.

But let’s just scrap what we are doing now we are only joint third highest goal scorers in the league.

Rubbish. WILDER OUT.

Every professional footballer should at least be able to hit the target from 20 yards out - if not then bloody practice for an hour a day !!

Something which Wilson did in his cameo the other day and hit the target, or just wide.

Its also something which Lundstram and Basham do, but i wish they wouldnt. Its like when Monty used to do it....

it’s a symptom of a wider problem .. apart from the forwards i don’t think the rest of the team are chipping in enough goals.. jack should be on about ten!

There's a fair few Premiership players that struggle hitting the target from outside the box - on £100k a week.

They all can. But you have a professional footballer who’s doing everything in his power to make you rush it / miss / nudge you / studs showing / 30,000 people shouting shoot when it’s 9ft in air.

That is a brilliant post. Couldn't you have just left the first 5 words of the second paragraph out, though?

Tbf when I played I couldn't hit a barn door but could put the ball in orbit with foot or head when clearing the ball, mind you I was a old school c/h got a nose bleed over the half way line
Though these lads should be able to hit the target 9 out of 10 they have all been brought up working with the ball

Dunt need to be reight far out, we just need to shoot more and will probably get a few lucky ricochets in the process.

Agree with the OP! It can be really frustrating watching us pass the ball from side-to-side on the edge of the box. Sometimes we just need someone have a go and put their foot through it from far aht.

Not just far aht, but reight far aht

Our inability to score from corners (or even get close) is more worrying for me.

Every time Duffy lines up to take one, I instantly sit back down...

I agree Steve. I also agree with those who say our corners could use some significant improvement. Just offering some balance to those who think these problems are not widespread in the game and somehow we are missing a trick that nobody else is.

Yes I suppose I could... I’ll make a late New Year resolution. There are some issues to which such observations are relevant. This was perhaps not one of them.

a lot of our shot from reet far aaht fly over t'bar, but if we were even further aaht it would have come down a bit and may sneak under bar. Apart from Simonsens pen, that's still in lower earth orbit.

as a side issue, would it not be worth having a blast every now and then, mix it up and keep defenders wondering, i reckon were quite easy to set up against, as they will know we don't shout, always pass
