Hate derby games. If that was a normal league game I'd have come out really frustrated but I'm actually happy simply because we didn't lose .

We would have taken 4 points off them at the start of the season. They certainly would never have imagined they'd only get one.

As a game it was the same old story with teams who sit back in numbers and that's something we really have to get to grips with now. It was the sort of typical shit game that we slip up on where we obviously had more quality on show but had no idea how to break down a much more determined Wednesday than last time.

Credit to them for grinding it out and almost nicking it. Frustrated as I am that we couldn't score I am also relieved that we didn't throw it away.

It's our first season back and the gap is tangible so bragging rights are still red and white as far as I am concerned.

Can’t help but think we let them off the hook tonight.

They sh** themselves, esp when their Capt jumped ship with 20 min left.

Still 4 points bagged...

Did I miss the grunters goal?

All that bouncing at the end had me wondering a bit. :D

They had got into their heads they were gonna get smashed even though the team they had out still came to about £20m. I remember them bouncing when they lost 1-0 to us when Quinn scored too. It's weird really.

They were less determined to defend last time because they were 2-0 down after 10 mins :)
An early goal is what we need, if we get one everything is set up for us - if not it becomes hard grind.
But I agree - sort of expected to give a goal away from 35th min onwards :(
Can you be disappointed and relieved at same time? ;)

Agreed. All the credit that Wednesday were getting from the media was amusing, they did what any team would in their circumstances - like Bolton did - and we couldn't find a way through but lets take a step back and say we still dominated and can take much pride from the game and it could have being worse at the end, with the Reach chance.

Lets also remember their team, which is apparently their squad team, still cost 5 times or so more than ours and yet we've looked the better side against a well organised but limited Wednesday side. Sadly the new manager effect made a huge difference ad we badly miss Brooks. Disappointed but also proud of how well we're doing this season.

Been watching the Blades for years and although we’ve won more derbies than we’ve lost I still don’t like them. The tension in the build up and during the game is awful and just takes over.

I would have taken 2 draws before the season so 4 points is good enough.

They were organised but rely on long throws and set pieces. Our passing was far too slow and predictable. We needed players to run at them but rarely did. Both our strikers were poor today too.

Amusing to see their fans celebrate a draw as if they’d won the league.

Agreed, i hate derbies to be honest but when you win them they're amazing and we did properly smash them this season which is far more enjoyable then their point today will be for them. They'll celebrate like its 3 points, but at the end of the day that just goes to show how far they've dropped from last season and how far we've come.

I love the derby. If it goes well it's one of the best matches ever.

When it's a dull nil nil the whole thing seems to be reduced to a bit of a pantomime. At the end I was thinking "I'll feel better when it's just a normal match again".

We were fucking gash. Why they even dared to clap us at the end I'll never know.

Should've fucked off down the tunnel and been as embarrassed as I was.

Reminded me a bit of 2001-2. Both matches ended as 0-0 draws, but in the Bramall Lane match we were clearly the stronger side throughout the game, but they very nearly scored very near the end. Thankfully Tracey made a brilliant save. It would have been a complete injustice if they had scored.

This^^^^^onwards we go,fuck the scummy cunts hope they go down last kick in the last game of the season utter utter cunts.

Annoys me when people say 'both teams back in same league, be great to have Sheffield derbies' no it fcking isn't....at least a week of people getting sucked in and talking shite cos we're all nervous as hell at the thought of losing, then the game itself, you age at least a couple of years. Derbies? Sorry it' a massive (sorry) no from me.

Cross the f00kin ball more get it in the box !!!!

But we're not very good at crossing (or shooting...)! The only time we looked like unlocking them was Fleck's run just before half-time. That's what we need more of, get their defence backing off, a couple more strides and he'd have been in the box. WE NEED MORE OF THIS DIRECTNESS - not the ponderous side-to-side and back again. The latter tactic is designed to change the point of attack, but we are so slow and obvious in doing it that we make it easy for the opposition defence to counter it.

A point on the resultant free-kick from Fleck's run. For once, the ref. gave a 'honest' ten yards and painted his line. Now, these lines are designed to fade after a few minutes but by the time that Wendy's wall had finished shuffling about, encroaching and that little cunt Wallace had finished gobbing off to the ref., the line had disappeared. Couldn't be that the Wendy walls' prolonged shuffling about was designed to 'rub out' the line, could it?

It's a massive compliment, they've gone from "mind the gap" to celebrating a 0 - 0 draw and boring us to death.
Does their new manager/coach/ whatever double as the bloke from Sparks?

This town ain't big enough for the two of us. :)

Well, the Blades have beaten better sides this season than the one Wednesday fielded, so Owls fans are understandably relieved.

Imagine if FF had been introduced on 70 mins for example, tipping, tapping and generally falling down in and around the penalty box, and with defenders getting tired too ...

Ha ha, that bloke on the keyboards was like a cross between Hitler and Charlie Chaplin.

Dreadful spectacle. I was really disappointed, I’d brought friends last night who’d never been to a Steel City Derby before and had hyped it up to them all week. I was in the Family Stand, midway between the halfway line and the Kop and I have to say, the atmosphere, for a Derby, was appalling. First 15 minutes we were loud, we were on top and the match wasn’t too bad... but then it all disappeared and all I could hear was the odd disjointed chant from the back of the Kop which I doubt the away end or Sky could pick up. Next thing you know Wednesday are singing “is this a library?” and it was justified.

In terms of the match itself, I said on here a week or so ago that I was “sick to death” of our crosses not beating the first man and Pinchy decided to pick a battle with me. I stand by that position after last night. What’s the point in attacking the wide positions and overloading with wing backs and centre halves if the best we can hope for is a corner - which amount to nothing. On the odd occassion we did manage to get a decent cross in nobody had gambled on it, probably because they’re playing the odds (that 9 times out of 10 it’s not going to get to them).

John Fleck, Richard Stearman and Simon Moore were our three top performers for me. I would then praise the efforts of all of the rest of the players (except Donaldson who looked uncommitted) but apart from Mark Duffy (who wasn’t getting the rub of the green), nobody was positive enough to try and force the issue last night... sadly Wednesday looked extremely comfortable with their two banks of 4, sat watching us pass it around in front of them. We need players who can beat a man and scatter those lines of defence, we badly miss David Brooks for this.

On a more positive note, I hear Lee Evans has a great set piece delivery and Ricky Holmes has a sweet strike on him too. It was a shame Holmes couldn’t be on the field for the free kick that Mark Duffy blasted over on the edge of the box (a great chance).

That’s 1 win in 10 now. We’re still playing nice football, but that’s relegation form. I don’t want us to have a massive system overhaul, I love the way we play, but I do fear teams have us figured out now and we have to be able to adapt different systems and give teams more to worry about.

We seemed devoid of ideas. After the first 15 minutes when i thought the win for United looked a dead cert. Then it went as flat as a pancake. Moore, O'Connell, Fleck came out the game, that could hold their heads up High. So many of the key players had a shocker. Love Wilder to bits, but only one substitution. Bet there were players on the bench chomping at the bit to get get on. At least it's over for this season, unless the FA Cup has a few more twists and turns. Wednesday fans will be alot happier over breakfast than us Blades.
