Bollocks. Stears did nothing wrong at all, apart from being part of a defence that didn’t cope well at set pieces. He was a victim of a referee error for the pen. No doubt. He played the ball.

This capmpaign will fail. Jake’s had his time. He’s a Wright-Off now. Tufty is moving on. He prefers Stears. No amount of vindictive tantrums from Shakey Jakies will alter that. In fact, I bet Big Ben Heneghan has moved ahead of your boy.

Go watch him at whatever lower league club signs him next season. We’ll manage.

Well done Stears and the boys. Great point despite the ref’s blunder.

I've been saying the last few games that stears should be RCB with Wright coming back in with CCV dropping to the bench.

Problem there is that Wright and Stearman won't bomb forward and be able to get back like CCV/JO'C/Bash can, although on a night like tonight where we had to have the back three a lot deeper you might be right.

Wilder has just agreed it was a penalty.

Disrespecting Wright now too.

Do we have to have an official scapegoat every week? If so, can it be Samir. At least Grealish's dives look kind of convincing. That free kick was laughable.

Anyhow, Stearman was ok. There's a lack of communication at the heart of defence but I'm unsure why O'Connell and CCV get a free pass?

I'm still unclear and uncertain why some of my fellow Blades think Jake Wright is the new Franco Baresi.

Can someone please tell me what Wright brings to the table that Stearman doesn't.

In every game I've seen Wright play he's never stòod out to me.

I've just commented on Wright vs Stearman on another thread. I'm happy to leave this one to Wilder who I'm sure knows more about the pair of them than anyone on here.

Besides, its Basham who's the pivot and will sort the defence out when he's allowed to return there.

Easy we win most of the time when Wright plays and we don't when Stearman does.

He clipped his heel, definitely a penalty

I saw it. Not a pen. No disrespect to Wright. He’s done a fine job, way above anything expected of him. I admire him greatly. However neither Tufty (who matters) nor I (who doesn’t) believe him good enough going forward.

Is disrespecting Stearman okay?

I haven't disrespected Stearman.

However both he and Wilder in interview straight after the game had no issue with the penalty.

Very simply, the fact he doesn't stand out is the reason why he should be there. Rarely makes an error and just gets on with his job. Rarely has to put a last ditch challenge on as the problems already been sorted.

He's dependable and helps the others with organisational skills. Something that I feel Stearman lacks.

As for Stearman not bombing forward (in a reply to above), he does get forward and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. There was an example in one of the home games where he carried the ball to the edge of their box. He can do the RCB job easily.

He dosen't stand out, but that's the good thing. It's the effect his presence seems to have on his fellow defenders.

Not so much Stearman but having no Jake Wright in there leaves a (ahem) massive hole. Nobody organises them like him.

Against Fulham?

He’s out. I agree with Tufty. He won’t be seen much at all going forward. There’ll be five ahead of him for selection by the end of January.

Oh....oh the Shakey Jakies...

Knees jerk...arms twitch... wah, wah, wah...

I think the reason he doesn't stand out, is because he's quite limited athletically and physically.
