Wilder's Reaction

I thought Jack made a bit of a meal of it, but my stream was acting up a bit so who knows.

How many times did the ref let us "play on" after being fouled and then pull us back and give the free kick when we had got the ba at feet in dangerous positions. Did my head in.

missed blatant elbow on Samir

To be fair, and I was watching it on TV, so did I. Are you sure Samir wasn't too preoccupied winking at the camera and waving at a girl in the stand that he didn't run into someone's elbow?

The scary thing is we keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome and then saying we did everything. Leon has been the only player who looks capable of hitting a decent shot on target for many matches, others hitting the bar and post or over the bar ultimately counts for little. Other sides are not so wasteful against us and the percentage of their efforts on target is high, ours is low. They don't waste it in the final third so much or come away looking for hard luck stories.

That ref was awful tonight, got the two big decisions wrong, Fleck won the ball with an excellent tackle, JOC got elbowed by that dummy up top. Those arguing letter of the law rubbish over Fleck cannot then turn round and say the Bristol lad didn't deserve to go.

Two footed studs up leg breakers are fine as it's a man's game.
O'Connell acting like he'd been hit by a sledgehammer when in fact he'd been accidentally caught by a hand is fine.

Really?

Hate to say it but Chris has let himself down with his comments about the ref. I'm disappointed in him probably for the first time.

Both those decisions were right, the ref had a good game, the only times he pulled the ball back for freekicks were when playing advantage came to nothing. Wilder should have some balls and take some blame himself if he doesn't want Fleck to get it.

Give over.

You can't do tackles that like anymore all players know this, it was a red card by the laws.

Wilder is coming across a bit Warnock-like tonight, not a fan of the blame game.

Regardless of anything else that happened, decisions that may or may not have gone our way (depending on how you saw them), Fleck got sent off. And the decision to send him off was correct .

Moaning about their players not getting punished appropriately just smacks off thrashing about looking for an excuse for the loss and anyway we can't control those things.

Let's worry about things that we can control, not things that we can't. And what we can control is what our players do, and what substitutions and game plan we have.

To be brutally honest, the substitutions/changes made after the sending off contributed more to the defeat than the actual sending off.

I really like the way we play. I like the fact that we try and get after teams and try and win games rather than set out for a draw. But sometimes, discretion is the better part of valour.

We are an attacking side and we are now playing in a way that in recent times we could only dream about. But sometimes it makes more sense to hold your fire and hang onto your position, rather than go charging off like the Light Brigade and ending up with a bloody nose and worse off than you otherwise would have been.

We could and should have taken a point tonight, regardless of Fleck's departure.

But then again, we live and learn and hindsight is a wonderful thing!

I hope that's tongue in cheek? You can't do what Fleck did. It's not a judgement call it's a fact. When somebody puts Brooks in the stand with that same tackle you wont think it' excellent. It was a shitty reckless tackle that could have broken an ankle. I'm glad players get sent off for that. I like going to see good players, not reserves who are in because stupid tackles break your best players leg

He's a passionate guy but I think he'll be disappointed in himself as well when he calms down.

I don't agree 'he took his head off'. O'Connell made no complaints and the ball was there to be won. I'm a bit disappointed about the criticism of the referee. I thought he was pretty good, in general.
if you’re the ref you cannot pick and choose how you apply the current laws.

As much as Fleck got the ball, you cannot fly into a challenge both feet off the ground and it not be a red.

But by the same token, you cannot have your foot head high and it not be called a foul for dangerous play, regardless of whether you get the ball.

I can understand Chris being irked by the inconsistent application of the laws of the game.

Seriously? You like the way we play. I have been out of the country and this is my first game since Nov 5th. The way we are now playing is pitiful compared to when we had Coutts. We cout out the middle and play long. We have no direction and any passing play seems to be more like Adkins styleee than Wilder. Moore is punting it long. No wonder he made the bizarre substitutions, there was no need for a midfield. More like this and there is no reason for Brooks to stay.

I get you point but the tall guy flickedthe ball past him at his waist height. O'Connell has behind him bit only arrived at croughing head height after the ball had been played. Never a free kick for me

So next time we sneak a win after the opposition hit the woodwork 4 times, you won't even think of saying " we were lucky to get away with that one"?
Just to be clear! ;)

Can you pissoff back?
