Understandably everyone is subdued about Coutts’ injury, but to bring some light relief, I hope we’ve all taken a moment to appreciate Clarke’s goal.

A brilliant cross from Fleck cleverly converted by a striker at the peak of his powers. It’s of those goals that would have still gone in were we playing vs. defenders at a higher level I think. It is unavoidable for the opposition.

A goalkeeper friend of mine often says that there isn’t a need for an inquest every time someone scores against you. He says “sometimes, you just have to say that was too good.”

Why just the 3rd goal?,Mark Duffys dummy for the 2nd was equally as good as Flecks brilliant cross for Leon and was coolly converted by a striker also at the peak of his powers, the passing and movement for the 1st goal was superb and cut open the Burton defence, leaving the defender no option but to bring down a striker who he knew would convert the chance offered, I appreciated all 3 goals,i can even appreciate the Burton goal now that we have won,no idea why you think Leons is any better than the others

Leon’s was quite clearly better than the other two due to the build up play, the ball in and the desire to get on the end of it. All this after the Coutts injury.

No I didn’t

Our season is over now so that goal was irrelevant

It’s also worth noting that at the start of the build up play was Lundstram winning the ball in Midfield.
Lundstram doesn’t fill me with confidence but he can certainly tackle and I’m sure Wilder will get the best out of him.

Not in my book,all equal,

I was willing Fleck to use Stevens on the overlap but instead he backed himself, put a great ball in and set up the goal. Got to love a player like that, especially when they're capable of regularly getting it right. That's what 'extra' Fleck gives you.

It's not the first assist of that nature from him (early ball in from the left).

It’s a good job it’s not only your book that counts and other people’s opinions matter.

Anybody who scores or plays well after such an horrific injury deserves huge credit in my book.

After an understandable slow start to the 2nd half, the whole team played well and deserve huge credit, same as they deserve huge credit for the way they played before the horrific injury,it is because Billy scored both the first 2 goals

Eh? o_O

They were all well-worked, but the first two you could arguably put down to mistakes in defence expertly exploited by the Blades. Sharp is in so much space both times, the manager should he having words with his defence - we have players clever enough to take advantage.

The last goal was just a perfect pass, converted cleverly. I think for that one he’d just have to say “they’re top of the league lads, goals like that will happen.” Their defender’s reaction says it all.

But mainly, I just liked it more :)

In terms of build up play, I loved that little move before the the penalty. Beautiful inter-play that shows the understanding our players have with each other.

Third goal was one of those finishes that make it look far easier than it is. Turns a decent cross into a perfect one and Leon does exactly the right thing by placing the header back across the keeper instead of just trying to meet it full force.

I didn't think it was one of our most exciting games. Lower tempo than we have most of the time, Clough's team happy to make it a bit scrappy, not a pitch that favoured us. And yet we really did seem like we could open them up at will.

i can even appreciate the Burton goal now that we have won

In fairness, it was terrible defending for their goal. We had plenty of opportunity to close their man down but we left him with all the time in the world to pick his spot. It was a good finish, but the defending was to blame primarily.

Also worth noting the strong challenge that started the move. First to react and get the ball into Brooks who then passed to Fleck.

Well done John Lundstram

Duffy's run had drawn Billy's marker forwards and afforded him all the space. Fantastic again from Duffy who must have thoroughly enjotyed the whole evening.

Should have had a pen 1st half as well. What a signing !

Surly it is no surprise to folk that both Duffy and Fleck play these type of defence splitting passes all the time? Proving how much quality we have as well as depth in this area.

Every United goal is to be celebrated, but your post set me thinking whether Leon's goal is unique. I cannot remember a goal where a cross comes in low, bounces, and is headed in. Almost impossible to practise in training, and a brilliant improvised finish. My memory is not as good as it used to be, but can anyone point me to a similar finish (United or anyone else?)

For every goal you ping in from 25 yards, for every goal consisting of 10 short passes and a tap in, for every goal by an individual ghosting past defenders and slotting in from 12 yards there have to be goals like Clarke's.

However good the pass into the box was I don't think many would have converted it the way Clarke did. To get his head down when the defender's boots were flying, and knowing that a team mate had already been injured, he didn't hesitate to get his head to the ball and direct it back past the goalkeeper. Great goal in my opinion by a man at the top of his game.

This type of goal wins Championships.

Paul Stancliffe once scored a diving header but was an own goal.

We have to have had the ability to cope without Coutts before the injury , if say hed recieved a red card we would have to adjust for 3 games , Im pretty sure Chris will have a clear idea of what to do.
Its heart breaking for Coutts in the best form of his career , but the show must go on and the unsderstudy has to give a great performance

Loved the way he put it in at the far post, how many strikers would have headed that straight at the keeper or wide of the near post.

Supreme confidence that.
