I think his agent is currently on BU too:

Sir Michael Tonge - COME HOME - The Truth - 20/02/2009 20:54

It is a crying shame seeing Michael Tonge flounder in Stoke's reserves. Tonge is a player of pure class and ability and was showing some decent form before his rushed move to Stoke.

Tonge is just the player we're missing presently. Howard has proved to be a failure and it may be best all round for Howard to move back to Barnsley and Michael to come back to his rightful home and forge a partnership with Monts in the middle of midfield allowing Quinny and Halford to take the wing positions.

Kenny
Naysmith Morgan Kilgallon Naughton
Quinn Monty Tonge Halford
Beattie Lupoli

A WINNING FORUMULA.

Apparently Blackwells said theres no chance as Stoke aren't wanting to let any players go. Then again, he also said the Cotterill deal was dead...

More today linking us with Tonge.

Seriously hope not.

Happy, welcoming bunch, aren't we? :D:D

I'd say trial first. See which Tonge we would get.

I'm upset... I saw Sharpy trying to reply to this thread the other day and he would have no doubt managed to start an in-depth discussion about how no one should doubt his very bestest friend forever Michael Tonge.

But he must have been so irate with the opinions expressed above that he spontaneously combusted and you were all spared his wrath.

Consider it a lucky escape gentlemen ;)

Breaking interview on SSN:-

Reporter:- "Michael, there are a lot of rumours about a possible return to Sheffield United. Can you shed any light on this?"
MT:- "Well, I am a Stoke City player and could not possibly comment on rumour and conjecture"
Reporter:- "Michael are you happy at Stoke?"
MT:- "Yes, very happy indeed"
Reporter:- "Well, why the long face?"

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

No more signings!!

Just seen Michael Tonge on Ecclesall road.

He can't sign though because you're only allowed 8 loan signings in 1 season.

Halford, Lupoli, Beattie, Bromby, O'Toole.

Previously - Howard, Stokes & Dyer.

Great... Howard is shit. Stokes is shit. Dyer was class but never played what a waste of 3 loan signings.

Howard doesn't count. Loans that become permanent don't count toward the 8.

It's 8 short term loans as well isn't it?

So Halford doesn't count because his is season-long... and wasn't Spring's supposed to be a season's loan?

Seeing as there was a bit of a Football Heaven Fest on here last night, did anyone listen to 'the big match build up - Toby Foster's Bigger At Breakfast'?

They had an interview with Monty whilst they were doing the "WOE, WOE, AND THRICE WOE!" bit about out of contract players, and dropped into the middle of it was ......

Thought I'd mention it.

Yeah I heard that, very interesting. I think it says a lot about him as a person though. Instead of plugging away and forcing his way into the manager's plans like Glenn Whelan, he moans about it to an ex-team mate. Obviously we've only got a snippet of what's been going on but it sounds like he's down in the dumps, feeling sorry for himself. That said, I'd still love him back at the lane in the hope that Blackie could hammer some sense into him.

Blades Mad have this on line

we are also led to believe that the United boss could bring back ex-midfielder Michael Tonge to Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane. Tonge's chances of appearing for Premiership Stoke are limited and has only made a handful of showings for the Britannia Stadium outfit.

This one has been flying around for a week or so.

I'd take him back on loan to be honest - though I would still like one other midfielder. May come back hungry.

Only in 2005/06, and to some extent in the Premiership did Tonge play central midfield with a decent, pacey and mobile forward line in front of him. We may be even better equipped now (at this level at least), and there would be no excuses for him if he doesn't do well. (A possible exception could be if Blackwell continues to play Evans and Henderson even if they don't click. I also think we should sign one more pacey striker)

I'd welcome Tonge back, certainly if the alternative is nobody coming in.

He always seemed to hit a bit of form after being dropped for a brief period. On that logic, he should be awesome if he came back now!

Seriously though, if we can get him in on a month's loan it'd be interesting to see what he has to offer. Although I wouldn't bother notifying Greenpeace about any trees being pulled up just yet.

Why, why, why????? If were after a premiership midfielder why are we going for one that cant cut it in the premier.

Theres one use I suppose..... It will stop people booing stephen quinn and start people booing him.... Again!!
