My missus just asked me what I was looking at (I was obviously 'making noises' as i watched the videos), I explained he was the most skillful player at the club that most of us had seen, best since the 70s...40 years.

Fucking hell. That is astounding news.

Watch me everyone. Watch this:

Well done McCabe

There. See?

pommpey
Well done fella!

Pinchy will be along shortly to say he knows fuck all about cricket and how Sir Jonny Bairstow is the best wicket keeper batsman in the history of test cricket.
OOOhh no,sorry blades all this amazing news is sending me over the edge

Has Carlos signed a 4 year extension too?

I've be having a 4year extension too at this rate ......
........ too many peroni's

That is outstanding news. At very worst he’s going nowhere for less than £20m. At best... Who fucking knows. The kid is unreal.

One thing I do know, is that if Brooks is still here in 2022, it’ll be because Chris Wilder has lead us to Europe.

I'm not mentioning him or giving him any kind of credit but the diving pig seems to be worth a few quid.

Bollocks to him. The only player the unclean have got who could command any sort of fee is Hooper, as he is more or less single-handedly keeping them out of a real relegation fight currently.

Still wouldn't swap him for any of JOC, Freeman, Stevens, Coutts, Fleck, Duffy, Sharp or....in fact wait fuck it. Wouldn't swap him for any one of our players.

"Good luck to the lad"

"he will tear this division a new one"

Right, that's that old bollocks out of the way, here is a link to Radio Sheff interview, not great quality, young David sounds like he is in a bathroom on a borrowed mobile phone. Anyway, nice picture of him on the link, nice of Radio Sheff to use that one, trophy in hand, big grin on his face, not quite sure where it was taken..........

Love the interview with brooks. He gives the indication that he's not bothered how many premiership clubs come calling in January!!. He's only interested in developing his career under wilder/knill. The lad knows that we're on the cusp of something special at bdtbl and wants to be a part of it!. We all do!!!. Utb. In wilder we trust. BLADES FOR LIFE.

Was saving this one for his inevitable sale, but looks like it might be a while yet.......

So instead, it's a yes from me.......

When we lost the likes of Lowton (2012), McDonald (2013), Maguire (2014) and Murphy (2015) we weren't in a position where we could say we were moving forward as a club. We need that if we're going to keep younger players, they have to feel that we're a club where they can improve their careers and achieve more in the game. When the mentioned three left disappointing seasons were ahead, and I doubt them staying would have been enough to change the outcomes. I don't think they regret their moves.

Things are very different now as we currently have the biggest momentum in English football and are clearly moving forward, mainly thanks to Chris Wilder, but things are looking good in all departments of the club.

Let's also hope more future targets realise what is happening here and choose us over other options, for football and career reasons.

It really is all about this. We've a core of improving and committed players that can take us places much like Tonge, Jags, Monty and co did a decade ago.

It's a fragile thing but the momentum is there, as is the core of talent.

Woke up today n had to double check the papers, just to make sure it wasn't a dream, really wish I hadn't now though, morning wanks really take it out of you!!!

Mentions looking in from the sidelines last season. He just wants to play doesn't he. He doesn't seem like a lad that would be happy to just take a higher wage to sit on the bench or be in U23's. Expect that's part of why when Wales came calling he's chosen to play for them as an England first team call could be way off. Great attitude.

Imagine a world where David Brooks is still playing for us in 2022...

England captain Harry Maguire playing alongside his international colleague Jack O’Connell...

Stating the obvious I know, but Wilder's interview on this is superb.

Especially love how he stresses that it's a deserved reward for the player (rather than something aimed at protecting the club's interests)

I'd like to think we'll get a good few years out of him and he'll be a key part of a Sheffield United side that gets us back to the Prem and establishes us there.

I'd like to think at some point that we'll see some important changes in the game too, where wages are capped and the big clubs will not be able to just cherry pick and stockpile young promising players from other clubs.

I'd like to think that money will begin to flow better throughout the Football League and help out the smaller clubs.

And I'd like to think that loyalty from player to club and club to player will return to how it was in the late 1960's, early 1970's, when it was not unusual for a player to spend most of their career at one club.

I'm sure not all these things will happen. But maybe the first one will?

If he fulfils his promise I think we may have our first £20m player on our hands, possibly much more... If/when we eventually have to sell him, will be a good test of the Directors' ability to maximise returns from an asset.
