We've had a few discussions about who he reminds us of at work, and names like Waddle and David Silva have been mentioned.
Personally, although he is clearly unique, I can't help but think of Ryan Giggs when I see him.
Could he develop into that good a player ?
I think he can !
I'm SO excited at the prospect of seeing him for at least the rest of this season.

I wanted to say an in form Harry Kewell.
I've just watched his highlights to refresh my memory but Harry struck the ball a bit better than Brookseh currentlg does.
He dribbles with the ball glued to his toe like a young Kewell did though.

He had the ball on the touchline towards the end of the game on Sat and the Ipswich players were scared to go near him in fear of being embarrassed. Pretty sure he could have just stood there until the final whistle without them making a challenge :)

The similarities with Giggs are there, born in England, represented England as a youth, and then switched to Wales. Predominantly left footed but also good with his right, glides at pace past players as though they are invisible, etc !

Not Giggs, hasn’t got the pace.
Laudrup though....yes I can see that.

Yeh totally agree.
Brooks is a winger with good ( but not blistering) speed but he has style and grace that few others have. Laudrup had it.

Reminds me of myself. In my dreams. That's why I can't wait to watch him every time he gets the ball. He plays in a way I wish I could!

Brooks is the new......
...... player people will be comparing other exciting prospects to in a few years time.
For me, he’s not a Giggs or a Twaddle or a Hoddle or a whoever.
He is David Brooks.
He is a Blade.
And he’s ours!!

Brooke's has broken the mould, he will be revered and remembered for being an original.
Just enjoy the ride and feel privelidged to be able to say that you were there when it all kicked off.

Watching that laudrup video, he has a long way to go, but not out of the question.

On the other hand he could turn into Micheal Tonge.

Great as he was....

George Best! Similar balance and skips past people...

A thinner John Barnes, left sided winger not that quick but could glide past a player when at his best.

As he's recently been valued at around £10,000,000 I should be finding ways he reminds me of a certain Jordan Rhodes.
Apart from having not taken a penalty for us recently though, I'm kinda struggling

I believe that I was one of the earliest on here to compare him with one our greatest, TC, after seeing him play in some of the pre-season matches and the Leicester cup game last year. What I saw then was a youngster with the arrogance and skill that fitted the comparison.

I see something more in the lad now, just pure class that we are unlikely to see in another matched by anyone else. I now wonder what influence our own Mark Duffy has on the lad & vica versa? Whoever it is that has inspired the lad, long may it continue

David Brooks style of movement with the ball is one of almost lazy gracefulness which naturally gifted players tend to have. The ability to predict a manoeuvre without consciously thinking about it and do it without fear of failure is born in certain sportsmen which stands them above others. Keith Edwards was once asked what made him a natural goal scorer of goals compared to other strikers. His answer was simple in that he wasn't afraid of missing. He never thought of missing the target and if he did miss a goal it never bothered him. The same in some respect can be said of David Brooks. He's naturally gifted with running with a football and not afraid of losing possession. Look at the world's greatest players over the last 15-20 years and they all posess the same style of running with a ball which at times looks effortless and David Brooks is certainly in that mould.

Hold onto your hats because this young talent is something special and born to entertain.

Even a Brooks like nutmeg just before the 2 minutes mark

Great video. That 'chipping' or 'lifting the ball over the top of a defence is an underutilised skill. See Fleck do it a few times. I think as teams park the bus more and more particularly at the Lane this is a tactic we should be adopting more often.

Thanks for posting.

It's truly thrilling when he's running with the ball tied to his feet. I'm just not sure if I have a tendency to overate him because he's a Blade.

Dare is say....

Jimmy Hagan?

Still some way to go, though. Hagan's instant ball control was very special.

It only seems like a few hours back that we were considering Brooks' future....would he stay or would he go....and now the young fella has put pen to paper and shown that this is where he wants to be, at least for now. Timing is everything, and with our current momentum this couldn't have been scripted better. One day at a time, but we certainly have that special ingredient to make the impossible possible.

Looking at the Laudrup clip, I think that apart from his duties towards the team the one thing that I hope happens to Brooks is that he doesn't have his spontaneity coached out of him.
A player like Laudrup was that rare breed of off the cuff genius, his intuition, pace, two fabulous feet, speed of thought, the awareness of what is possible before other players knew what's going on, Laudrup was special in so many ways. Only time will tell what heights Brooks can rise to. There's no doubt that what we've all witnessed is a lad playing without a manual, who works hard, who was born to play football with a freedom that only a few respond to. What we saw during the Wednesday game was nothing short of exceptional. Clearly Wilder and co know exactly what they have in Brooks, and how to allow him to grow and flourish, a case of less is more I think.
