Cheers Roy. Expected worse comments with a hint of ref basham chucked in (SWIDT?) ;)

ironic how one comment mentioning a blades fan saying that was our worst home performance of the season was walking down the steps from the kop and everybody agreed that was one of our most satisfying and best results at home

Raised an eyebrow at that one too, perhaps evidence Brian the Blade does attend games after all.

Maybe meaning that we didn't control possession as usual due to absence of Coutts.

Fair comments from their fans.
Ipswich possibly gave us too much respect and like their neighbours Norwich their main tactics seemed to be to defend in numbers, sit back soaking up the pressure then try to hit us on the break.

It’s ironic that their negative tactics nearly worked because although we dominated overall play Ipswich did have a few half chances.
If they’d have won then McCarthy would be praised as a master tactician.
But as they lost then McCarthy is classed as negative and over tactical.
Ipswich seemed more concerned about stopping us instead of being positive and playing their normal game.
Just proves how much respect opposition teams are giving us, games at the Lane are strarting to become similar to last season in league 1 where teams just come to try and frustrate us because they know they have no chance playing an open game.

Ultimately a one goal win for Sheff Utd was a fair result and fair reflection of the game.

Same here - satisfying in its routineness.

Cheers Roy.

To be fair, that's probably the most missed chances we've had in a game, even though we played well I'd say 'worst home performance' isn't too bold a statement. But if that is what we are judging as bad what do we have to fear from anyone??

Fair comments really.

I think what's most satisfying for me, and it's reflected in these comments, is that we aren't winning games just by making every game a cup match and going crazy for the wins, we look like a proper Championship team. No plucky underdog victories by turning games into a scrap. No signs that we're playing above ourselves and won't be able to sustain it. Yesterday wasn't our best performance in terms of excitement and incident, but we played yet another established Championship side and for large parts of the game we looked to be the better time while also being comfortable.
