Yes was great work. Which cued the miserable old fuckers in front of me to go "what they clapping for, he's only doing his job"
Miserable is not the word. I'd say completely ignorant, two words I know. Many fans don't appreciate the positive effect that encouragement and appreciation has on a player or team. I think it's one of the reasons for some of the players 'over achieving' currently.

Absolutely blademark . The relationship between club & fans is the strongest it has ever been in my time as a Blade. No coincidence that the players are putting in the performances they have been in this environment.

Long may it continue.

Goals withstanding; rare moments get me out of my seat.

Towards the end of the game when Duffy sprinted half the pitch to close down that loose ball was one of them.

Whole stadium rose to applause. Great moment.

It was brilliant. He anticipated the danger with their quick left sided player having lots of open space and bust a gut to get back.

Minor grumble from all that - he stopped the ball with about a quarter of it on the line, turned and carried on. Yet they gave Ipswich the throw in.

The whole of the ball has to be past the line for it to be out of play - it's a rule that referees and linesman get regularly wrong and it winds me up. Grrr.

Yes he might have only been doing his job as the MOFs might have alluded to, but you should have told them that he was doing that part of his job exceptionally well hence the applause from the stadium. As already mentioned in this thread, there are some real ignorant twits out there - some of em clearly have less brain cells than i have eyelets in my shoes.

And most of this down to Chris Wilder what a job he's doing,he's one of us and it shows

Agree with all of this, and would add what a great example to the younger players. Learn from that example - the best teachers teach by example. That intervention was probably not part of his pre-match instructions, but he took on the responsibility in the way that all the players do in this squad. What a way to lift the team and the crowd.
In the interest of fairness, has nobody got any comments from miserable young gits who sit near them?;)

Yes they spend half the game on their phones

The 'Wider effect' - a playmaker and relatively 'elegant, touch player' busting a gut to make sure we snuffed the break - and showed speed we didn't know he had!!

The Messiah said it himself last night in respect of that Freeman injury, something like " my lads are putting it all in every situation and total commitment brings accidents and injuries sometimes" Lavery's injury was down to exactly that, he went hard for a ball that was nowhere near his.

I think fans everywhere, no matter what team they support, appreciate a player who gives their all.

I think that Duffy has been an underrated player for far too long. He's got quality throughout his game. He has guile (look it up ;)), something that you don't see that often, he can point an opposing player this way or that and then play the pass we all know he's capable of, and the chemistry between Coutts and Fleck and Duffy has been one of the joys of Wilder's management.

I've written this elsewhere, but the quality of player that Wilder has brought to the club (with the occasional exception!) has been the thing that has lifted this club from over-blown underachievers into a band of brothers hungry for success who understand what we have to do to make this possible. Duffy is a top player, yes, you heard me right, a top player, and he's one of the finest players to wear a red and white shirt ever!

Doing his job...but that of the defenders too.
Some people are simply thick.

Yep, I mentioned it yesterday on Deadbat’s report. It was one of those a rare special moments in football that will live with most of us forever. What’s more he fully deserved it.

I'd say that (so far) Duffy is having a better season in the Championship than League One. He went missing a few times last season, the same can't be said this. He seems raring to go, as I suspect all the player are, for each game.

A great time to be a Blade.

It wasn't just the sprint, it the was instant reaction to danger and awareness that the team was caught out. A lot of other players would have looked around hoping to see a teammate before deciding it was their job to get back in, and by that time the bloke would be out of reach.

Duffy keeps on pulling performances out making it bewildering that other clubs have not given him a fair crack at this level previously, he gives the ball away on a few occasions which you expect with the sort of player he is, always probing and harassing players when he hasn’t got the ball, great traits to have.

He’s also proving those that had doubts regards his fitness levels including myself that he can play the full 90 minutes when he’s been asked to do so.

We missed him when he was rested last season, but now we have Brooks we can afford to keep him fresh, as he's certainly not a 90 minute player anymore. Works well for both players. Carruthers will also be desperate to impress when he gets a chance.

He never “went missing” last season. Regardless of how he was playing he has always wanted the ball. Yes, what he tried wouldn’t always come off. Yes, he would tire in the final third of the game on occasions. But go missing? He’s one of the last I would level that suggestion at.
