Don't let Woodwardfan see that page on Louis Reed :).

Good that Long's doing well at Wimbledon. He'll have a decent career away from the Lane and it's interesting that Doncaster fans' views on Whiteman have mirrored their team's results as the season's gone on.

Interesting takes on James Wilson. Perhaps he’s stepped up another level?

Chesterfield fans are pretty fucking discerning aren't they? Considering all you have to do to get into their shit team is turn up at the ground. Muppets.

Just what Long needed, let's hope he builds on it.

Surprised re Reed and Whiteman. Chesterfield is a hard place to be but Lester might turn things around. My cousin must be being kind to me, he says he's a terrier with skills.

Watched Hussey on TV and he was their main man, involved in every dead ball and pushed on relentlessly in open play.

Wilson doing well in a Back 3, must suit him. Looked composed with us but didn't win enough ball for me.

Always a little reticent to take a few forum comments as gospel (no disrespect Roy love your work) but not great regards Reed at any time during these updates.

Not easy being in a team in their position but if he's not pulling many trees up at the bottom of League 2 then you have to wonder where his future lies.

Pleased for Long but in truth out of all those, the only one I have any hopes for being part of our future is BW. Sounds like he's being asked for fulfil a slightly different role.

I'm pleased for Long. Hopefully it will give him some confidence.

Does anyone think that any of them could come back and do a job for us? Personally, I don't see any of them ever making our first team.
I still think Whiteman could be good enough. I'd pull him and Reed back in the JTW, it's not that helpful for them being in a relegation fight. Get them loaned out to clubs that can actually win games.

I'd say Hussey, Long and Wilson have probably found their level and look to sell all three in the JTW. Won't be huge amounts but I think there are L1 clubs that would pay for them, going on the reports. Or maybe try to part ex one of them for a L1 player we want to sign, like Leonard.

Never really understood the hype with Reed. Every time I've seen him he's not been very good. He doesn't particularly excel at anything. Can't tackle so not a Defensive Mid, can't shoot so not an Attacking Mid, can't take a man on. Too slow, too lightweight.

Unfortunately he will never play higher than the Conference

I just think that if Whiteman isn't pulling any trees up for Donny in League 1, then he's not going to be good enough for us. Can't see Reed ever being good enough to get back in.

You could be right or it could be a case of Fleck and the Cov fans re Whiteman. Donny fans were raving about him when they were doing alright at the start of the season.

I feel for Reed, he obviously worked hard last season and seemed to have got his confidence back in the u23s, only to end up at a farce of a club. Football can be very harsh.

Mixed comments on Whiteman but I don't think he should be playing as a defensive midfielder. And he's not suddenly turned shit.

I think Wilson's spell with us genuinely improved him as a player. I expected him to be an excellent signing for Walsall.

Hussey seems comfortable at that level.

Really good to hear such positive reports on Long. I'm not writing him off yet.

Reed's got qualities but needs to be in the right team. Not sure that's Chesterfield.

Spot on Ricky, although I think George could have a better career away from the Lane, could be the pressure of being an home town lad, or maybe the pressure from him self to do something at United?

Not at all surprised that Hussey has become pivital for them. He is excellant at dead balls and delivers a decent cross too from open play. At that level he won't be exposed defensively.

Chuffed for Long, and who knows, maybe he still has a future at United. After all, Blackman will no doubt go back to Chelsea at the end of this season and maybe Long will be back in the running next pre season.

Can't see Reed staying much longer, he needs to go permanently and play football. Not too interested in Wilson because as with Hussey, he'll be gone at the end of the season whatever, as they're both out of contract. Wilson should be solid for that level, in fairness.

It's nothing to do with the pressure on Long and everything to do with the sections of the crowd who seem to be waiting for him to make a mistake when he plays for us. It's fine that fans have an opinion that a player's not good enough but it shouldn't manifest itself in jeering*.

I've said it for a while now - Long will have a decent career but not at United. He needs to move on permanently.

(*not aimed at you, btw)

No worries dude and totally agree :)

None of them were likely to play for us ever again, but those opinions aren't really surprising.
Hussey was bloody awful for us, but his past career suggested he'd be a very handy player in League 2.
Long is about League 1 quality, but always seemed under too much pressure here.
Wilson didn't really do much wrong for us last season, he was poor in a back 4 with O'Connell, then after changing system we brought in EEL, then he got injured and by the time he was fit Bashambauer was a thing. If we were still in League 1, he'd be fine.
Whiteman's mixed reviews suggest he plays about as well as the rest of the team around him, rather than standing out as good or bad.
Disappointing that Reed is struggling to impress in League 2, was unlikely to cut in in the Championship, but he should be able to do well at that level, just needs to find a club that suits how he plays to get his career moving forward again.

I liked Wilson every time I saw him but don't expect him to return to the first team set-up. I suspect Whiteman will win the doubters back. He's a proper footballer, who knows with Reed?
Reed has flattered to deceive on some occasions I've seen him, can't finish and not particularly aggressive in the tackle so makes you question what kind of midfielder he will be.

Hussey is another Andy Parkinson, can’t play in front of a big crowd

Interesting about Louis Reed.

I genuinely had high hopes for him when he first burst on to the scene, he doesn't really seem to have kicked on enough, it happens to plenty of players, it is a shame for them but that's football.

Well done Roygbiv

The last rites for these players, it is what happens al levels of football
No need for bladeyness.
Sorry but Reed, Long, Wilson, Hussey, and Whiteman aren't good enough 100%.

Any idiot twat manager ( a la Clough) can sign shit loads of players or talk up the youth to the nth degree , trying to buying themselves time of jam tomorrow.
The clever ones (Lord Wilder) are those able to ship out the never going to make it ones and keep stum about those going to make it ( Brooks)

Harsh but that's football.

Can you imagine how good the reports off Chesterfield fans would be if we'd loaned them Brooks. They'd be raving about him because he'd be scoring and setting up goals every week, and a lot of our fans would say: 'Still not ready to challenge at this level' and overlook him. A lot of our fans have a weird attitude of 'Don't give him a run to find out if he's good enough.. until he's good enough' which I find bizarre really. I'd like to see Whiteman back here and see how he copes in our midfield.I don't reckon he'd look out of place. He's been playing centre half recently I think.

Pleased to hear Long is doing well.

He came in to our side at a very young age and started well, things with the club overall turned sour and his performances dipped; along with others, however he became one of the fall guys given his position.
