& we have sold our best striker, the only one that has a good amount of goals this season.. & replaced him with an unproven striker at this level.

BRILLIANT business as usual..

I'm not commenting again until the window is shut.

Hopeful of some good money being spent by then, if not, then the toys may come out of the pram! :D

I definitely think he needs to spend some money, and quick!

I love all these "as usual" comments relating to us selling the crown jewels and bringing no-one in.....

I'm sure I heard somewhere that we actually bought Beattie and he wasn't born on the pitch at the lane

Sure hope all this quiet is just a sign of some business being done - we need someone who can play left wing and some real speed up front. Don't think we have the money to buy a Speed replacement given the price on someone like Tonge who just did not do it for us despite a great deal of playing time.

Sold him and lost 500k iirc. wouldn't exactly call that Brilliant businesswould you?

He was never going to be worth what we bought him for. Some would say his goals kept us up last year, -£500k and his wages were worth it wouldn't you say?

I was commenting more on the usual "ambition" and signing lower league stuff though to be honest.

That we brought him cannot be denied.

That we achieved precisely fuck-all with him can be argued strongly.

That we then sold him for less than what we paid for him - in effect getting our pants pulled down - is another strong argument.

That we then failed to replace him, despite strong indications from the board that we would, is undeniable.

It could be said that the latter three points personify The Blades Way...

Very well put, have a look at the deal which was brokered by Fulham for Jimmy Bullard as an example. They were running the risk of losing him for nothing at the end of the season, Jimmy is 30 years old and has a history of long term injuries yet they were still able to get 5 million quid for him.

The deal to buy James Beattie was an ambitious move followed up 18 months later by a move which may prove fatal for any ambitions we have of promotion this year.

I honestly think that the board have contributed massively to the apathy of fans through false promises and bad footballing decisions since we were relegated from the premiership.

If we do not strengthen in this window i am very fearful of a serious decline in results for the rest of the season.

End of the day we have been linked to strikers like Lita ect, we sell our supposed top striker and we've ended up with a player from Division 4.

And people wonder why fans are getting a bit pee'd off.

I agree entirely.
