Hindsight's a wonderful thing when your career is over and you realise that perhaps you should've remained loyal to the club which supported and stood by you when you got a drug ban. But its good that he had a nice career following that fuck up he made. I say that through gritted teeth as I think he really chased the money, when really he had another responsibility. Perhaps in hindsight we whould've sacked him in the spot when he got banned.

However, always liked Paddy, hearts in the right place and he was part of a really exciting time to be a Blade, much like now.

I can forgive Paddy - wasn't ever the brightest button and being a couple of fried eggs short of a full english probably contributed to his timing to leave rather than stay for at least another season after his drug ban. As SwissBlade says his heart's in the right place even if his brain's lacking.

With Colin, as much as he is a bit of a twat (to put it mildly) he still gave me some of the best moments following the Blades and always likes to wind the pigs up into a massive froth so he's ok with me.

That jug eared lazy cunt though - he's in mine along with that fat lazy scouse druggie shyster. Two full weights on and off the pitch from the worst spell in our history.

When 'appy 'arry bankrupts another club I hope ol' Jug Ears marches his 'big club' into League One where they'll have so few fans turning up he'll think he's back playing for Ilkeston again the stupid dickhead.

Great player for us and part of one of the best teams we've had in recent times. That day against QPR was one of the worst I've experienced at the Lane, it was toxic and a real shame that seems to be his legacy.

Interesting how Everton received Rooney back and the same for Bony at Swansea last weekend. I would hope Paddy can make an appearance one day and get the plaudits he deserves from the fans.

Quite funny how the club can sell player A, and be slated for cashing in/not keeping them
Sell player B, and the it's the player gets slated for moving on/not being loyal.

I don't begrudge him leaving. He went to warnock, won the league and had a couple of years in the prem that he wouldn't have had with us, and he probably knew that. If he's gone to some middling team with no link like warnock, and just for some cash, I might think differently. We don't know the deal/clause/loyalty aspect in full and a club met our apparent valuation.

If he'd stayed we wouldn't have gone down, that's for sure.

300 appearances and he saved us many times.

I know you're being facetious but yes, I think you're right. I'm not going forget the cup runs and promotion with warnock just because of a dalliance with Portsmouth. I'm not going to gorget all the times we sang Paddy's name cause he went off the rails a bit. I think he was a great character at our club. Che? I'll take him or leave him, but that spurs game was pretty good.

I'm not quite sure how much he himself might have affected that season tbh – the effects were more obvious the following season with Simonsen. Morgan marshalling the defence was the bigger loss to us the season we went down.

In retrospect, despite the anger at the time levelled his way I think he made the right decision. It's also quite difficult to argue for continuing to play for Blackwell.

What fans fail to realise is that players rarely (if ever) have the same loyalty to a single club as what fans do. Paddy was clearly good enough to play in the top flight and we weren't, he chose his career over us and you have to respect that sometimes.

I'll never forget the good times and they outweigh the one thing that pissed me off at the time. He was a great character and keeper in our most recent successful period.

The circumstances surrounding his sale are still not clear to this day, so please spare me the ITK bullshit, but I guess it gives the usual suspects something to be outraged about. Only at Bramall Lane could a great servant who played over 300 games for us during our most successful period in recent history get this amount of dogs abuse.

That's exactly what we did. We didn't want him to stay and off he went.

Paddy is the best keeper we have had since the Kelly/Tracey years. Unfortunately, he soured his reputation firstly with the drugs ban and then secondly, leaving straight after we had stood by him.

I don't think anyone would have complained if he had gone the following season after 'repaying' his debt to the club, in order to further his career.

Interesting how Everton received Rooney back

Everton made very good money out of Rooney and he publicly remained a fan, even at Manyoo. Kenny followed the money which is fair enough, but to somehow think he can pretend he is a Blade just because he still lives round here, gets my goat.

Words are cheap and a chucking a few platitudes at us does not suddenly make him a cult hero. Something else spelt similarly maybe.
