Once again we've had an invitation from "Pez" for S24SU Blades to go along to the 1874 Northwich Beer Festival. The connection goes back a few years now - to the days when it was Northwich Victoria - and there's been some years which have seen a good Blades turn out. We're the only other club invited and our red and white stripes are always made welcome (despite Northwich's rivals, Witton Albion also playing in our stripes!). The beer is always top notch, and their fans are proper fans (1874 are a fans owned club that they created when Northwich Victoria was run into the ground by their then chairman - who is now serving time at Her Maj's Pleasure)

This year the bash is to be held at a Cricket Club just outside the town over the nights of Friday October 6th and Sat 7th and the tickets are £5 a night (including a half pint glass).

I think Pez will be on here soon with more details for any folks who might be interested - but as always - it'd be nice to think that a club like ours could support a fledgling fans club that deserves our support - especially when we'd get a good night out into the bargain!

It's always a good trip.

This very forum also received fantastic hospitality when we sponsored the game between 1874 and Sheffield United U23.

Friendly bunch, who simply love their football.

Which cricket club SheepdipBlade ?

Not at the chemical works social club then? You'd think with their location they could spring for some weed killer.
And I'd love atrip, even after the disappointment of the lack of kebab last time despite promises from Foxy however I'm already booked in for my daughter's birthday party. Bloody kids. :D

Not sure - though Frodsham rings a bell. I'll get on to Pez to get it confirmed

The move has come about as (as often happens) all the work was falling on Pez's shoulders and to make things a bit easier he's moved it to a two night bash in a smaller venue.

Is this a coach trip or own travel arrangements?

Be lovely to think wheels could be arranged. Anyone got any thoughts? I'm happy to help co-ordinate. (brass up front this time though - I've been stung in the past!!)

There's a competition to see who can drink the most pints and drive back to Sheffield in one piece.

Aye - over the Cat& Fiddle on a wet October morning with a hangover!

The 1874 Beer Festival was moved to Davenham Cricket Club after many a good year at our previous venue Lostock Social Club.

There have been a few beer festivals held at the new venue so I decided to have a two night beer festival this year at Davenham which is just on the outskirts of Northwich & with it being a free weekend football wise for Championship sides I thought that a few may make the journey over on maybe the Saturday night.

Davenham Cricket Club has made it into the 2018 Good Beer Guide & has been runner up in the North Cheshire Camra Club of the year for the last two years beating a former Camra Club of the year Barnton into third place.

There will be a normal bar service at Davenham & food will be available at the event (pie & peas I think).

We will be having 11 beers & three ciders on at the beer festival will beers on from breweries from around the country.

Tickets are £5 for admission, programme & a half pint glass (as per previous beer festivals) beers & cider at the festival are available for 4 tickets for £5.00 any takers please post on here or let Sheepdip know.

All proceeds from the festival will go to 1874 Northwich which is a fans run team.
