What's to defend, they tried something and it failed. You miserable buggers who enjoy failure can have your day. I just want the Blades to succeed on and off the field and don't presume I know everything and am smarter than the rest of the world. Enjoy your self-serving selves.

I think that everyone wants the Blades to succeed. What has made people frustrated is the way that the whole Beattie/Lita saga has unfolded, and the smoke and mirrors the club have used in what they've presented to the fans.
Calling people miserable buggers is hardly called for. Just because you're not showing any disappointment yourselves doesn't mean that others can't.

Folks seem free to call MCabe a liar, plus lot's of other crap.
Calling someone a liar after they have apparently lied is not necessarily inappropriate. What you are doing is personal abuse. I don't believe anyone has personally attacked you, so I feel that your outburst against other users is a little uncalled for.

What I am railing against is all the moaning, often not quite polite, that this is starting to look more like a Piggy site ofering support for another local team. Being miserable, inconsiderate, using foul language strikes me as worth a comment. Just seems those who want to dump on the cub are having a field day. I kinda think there are a few on here who get a little tired of the assumptions which are made in order to justify the lie. Like I said before I have not heard any lies. All communications are not instantly received, all deals instantly done and communicated. Don't see anything wrong in me registering that I think most of this outcry is nonsense. All said i am more interested in the outcome of the game and will stick to my interest in soccer rather than trying to run the club. Have a nice day and Up the Blades!

Its not just the Beattie saga though either. Take the Howard signing for instance. Was that done properly? Was it hell!
The club cant stop rumours & speculation. But it CAN stop announcing things before there signed & sealed!

We all want United to suceed. I suppose we just have different ideas of how it should be done.
The board have come out of this entire situation with more then a little egg on their faces; the fact that we have involved Reading in this has only served to compound our embarassment as Steve Coppell comes out with the kind of statement that the powers that be at BDTBL should take on board.

I can appreciate why the board may have felt the need to try an appease fans by releasing the statement but i think everyone was a little suspect of the manner in which Leroy Lita's name was dropped in; almost apologetically stating that terms had not been agreed without declaring the deal as dead in the water.
It's been a bad 24 hours and i wouldn't be surprised if we see a bit of a media blackout following the game tonight; that wouldn't be a bad idea given the events which have unfolded so far this week.

I would not have been upset in the slightest if we had sold beattie or the whole squad if it was really to buy in better players and strengthen the squad as stated but now were being told its to save money?
I love the things MCabe has done off the pitch to build Sheffield united as a plc.
But buying 3 other clubs doesn’t make us a big club nor dose it improve our league table position, may be before we started buying other clubs we should have invested in our first team and cemented our place in the prem, what happens if all four managers want money made available for transfers????
All this makes me wonder if MCabe has any faith in Blackwell at all didn’t seem to mind splashing the cash when nobson was hear.
I think what has to be justified is how a club with the largest gates in the division in fourth place are showing ambition selling there top goal scorer for less than his true valuation before adequate cover is found.
instead of saying to the player and manager you got till the end of the season to get back in prem then the squad will be trimmed back to a championship level club with championship ambitions.

I am sure that to McCabe it will be a case of 'sticks and stones etc', but there is no need to be abusive to othe rposters, if you want to be abusive, then could yoiu please go somewhere else.
That said he doesnt seem to be coming out of this episode in the life of SUFC with much glory. For me he has forgotten who his customers are, ie Blades supporters and how important the club is to all of us.
I think he has failed us this time and handled the PR poorly.
But remember we all make mistakes, luckily ours are not too often in the public eye. I will be interested to hear if he is on Football Heaven tonight.

We may sit on different sides of the fence over all this, but in the main I agree with you here. I still think the Beattie stuff was up in the air over the weeken (maybe not as high as was made out though), but the Lita stuff has hacked me off, because it's not so long since that a similar matter happened with Brian Howard. The difference being that Howard wanted away and was as a result eminently 'gettable', but Lita has effectively stuck two fingers up at us.
Not only that, and this is the first time I'll have a go at King Kev I, he was saying on Saturday that 'deals aren't done in the media', or words to that effect, and within a week SUFC/TASS* are doing precisely that.
*If you don't remember Communist Russia, look it up, comrades!

As Foxy has previously pointed out, look at how long we had Jags for, even Tongue. People were sniffing around Paddy not long back and Bolton were apparently making a bid. So one sale hardly constitutes us being branded with the aforementioned title
There are still 18 days left of this transfer window in which we can strengthen. Alright, McCabe promised a replacement would be lined up before Beatts put pen to paper but perhaps Kev genuinely thought the Lita deal was all but done. After all, I don't think it would have been publicised if we hadn't actually had a bid accepted.
Who's to say we won't strengthen? McCabe did mention 'players' on Saturday and we may be strengthening with a number of additions
McCabe always admitted that our wage bill needed trimming and even said we may have to sell in January to do so because Premiership wages were still being paid.
Doesn't this demonstrate the ambition you feel he lacks?
Firstly, Derby have bigger gates.
Secondly, his true valuation was never determined, many were complaining that we paid too much for him initially considering the number of splinters in his arse from his stint at Everton. After 18 months things normally tend to depreciate. Just because Hamilton won the F1 Championship in his McLaren doesn't mean it will be worth more now than it was at the start of the season, does it?
There are 18 days left of this window and there is still plenty of time for us to turn things around. No I'm not happy, nor am I impressed with the clubs handling of the matter and I appreciate why everyone is a tad annoyed but like I say, there's still time so please a little bit more optimism?

Future is uncertain at the moment I would say but thats why it's the future.
I'm a Blade and a positive one no matter what any other supporter says to me. I look for the positives in the situation (wage bill reduced) and hope for good news around the corner.
Like you say Black or White
United will always be the club I support (in a positive way because thats what support is) no matter what 11 players line up on the pitch.

but the lass who cuts her hair says her pall knows a friend of a friend of McCabe son and he told em his dad wouldn't tell lies and even if Reading did say the Blades knew the deal was no go before announcing done deal on the SUFC website it 'our terry's' fault not mmi dads because ..........bollox
