And, sadly, how incapable modern players are, of putting one foot in front of another, without some avaricious, cigar-smoking leech pulling their strings.

I truly don't understand how anyone can be so malleable. He's travelled to Sheffield and couldn't say yes unless his agent agreed? What did his agent say to him to change his mind?

I don't think you do get the technology. You use the handles according to the platforms you're using. It would frankly look decidedly amateurish on BR's part if they were to tweet about a Twitter user and not use that user's handle.

Again, I get the technology. I just feel like a "sphere" where the club is reduced to the title, @SUFC_tweets, is even more gormless than it often gets credit for.

What that article and video tell us is
;
Wilder is such a decent honest bloke any player would be mad not to want to play for him. He has assessed his team and identified the weakness as lack of pace and had 3/4 options to address it.
;
Devante Cole for 200k and add ons is exactly the right sort of money for a player at his stage of development. Wilder is genuinely spending the owners money like it's his own/ours.
;
Jerome Sinclair I felt so sorry for him sat at the train station waiting to sign. But you would think if you had been linked with a club for a week you would have at least done some youtube research on that club. Not to know anything about us, the way we play etc Says either he just wants to play football or he is just chasing the money!

Finally agents are crippling the futures of young footballers and seem happy to manipulate clubs last minute. So glad we didn't fall for it and that Wilder is worth his weight in gold for sticking to his and our principles!

Very finally this transfer window closing when it has has done us no favours Burton beat a crap Birmingham and when we play brum they have a whole new squad Inc. Jota and the opposite to that when Burton play Brentford they won't be the same team we beat, now they've been asset stripped.

Don't worry, I'm sure we'll add the necessary quality in January

To be fair Birmingham have just spent 11-12m on taking three players from a club we just beat in Brentford,

They didn't get Song, they didn't get Wilshire. They loaned a couple of out of favour Arsenal players.

They have no continuity and a brand new team. I'm not that impressed with the end result to be fair though Jota and Roberts are decent additions.

Not sure how many have seen this yet, but thought it's worth its own thread.

Just a fascinating and rare insight. Wilder comes out of this really well IMO. So calm when it must have been so infuriating.

pommpey. What do you make of this? McCabe putting the block on spending, lack of ambition, same old?

Only bit that worried me from that is Wilder saying "we're at our budget". Hopefully that's just meant in relation to the budget for those particular loan deals, rather than than the whole remaining budget, as it's not as if we forked out millions...

It basically confirms the Sinclair (and subsequently Quina) deal fell through purely because the agent demanded his fee was doubled at the last minute, after everything had been agreed.

That's just shocking. Hope the greedy cunt's proud of himself.
Can't be allowed by FA/FIFA surely?
If West Ham/Watford and us had already agreed on all football issues, agent doubling HIS fees is only of benefit to agent.
I think a formal complaint is justified.
Over to you Mr McCabe! ;)

It's a type of third party ownership way these agents work. I'd have told him to Gollocks if I'd been Sinclair and wanted to come!!

See Decs post.

It's not Wilder's 'substantial budget' to spend, is it? If he caves at agents bumping up the cost, Mr McCabe might be dead cross.

Yep. I understand the technology. But if they are tweeting about the club, they should call us Sheffield United ... and bollocks the "twitter name". When did we become a club ? 1889 or 2010 ?

Well, football originated in the early 1990s so work it out from there...

I agree that it would read better if they said "behind the scenes at Sheffield United @SUFC_Tweets".

Just as they would put if it wasn't clear from the twitter name who they were referring to (and it isn't always)

I agree with you
LoughboroBlade, I don't think Shocking Bad Buy does understand how it works ;)

Just looks like a Twatterising of something traditional and precious, to me. As well as another gormless erosion of our lovely language. But I'm feeling old and a git, tonight, so there :)

Good luck to Twatter and all who choose to sail in her, and all that, obviously.

Great video!!. Wilder is a no nonsense type of manager as we already know!!. It shows that some agents are really ruining the careers of players just to satisfy their own financial greed!!. The most disturbing part of this situation is that managers and chairmen at some clubs are just willing to pay whatever the agents ask for!!. Thank goodness we've got a manager who sticks to his principles!!. I M H O. Agents have ruined the game I first fell in love with as a kid in the 70s and they're laughing all the way to the bank!!.

agents are bent bastards always have been always will be, they couldnt give a flying fuck about their clients its all about the money:mad:.

Should he cave in?

It depends on the value of the player to the club. If Cole is the key to what we lack, then that is what game changing investment is about. The ability to acquire players at cost to win. Obviously, Wilder reckons he s not worth that extra stretch. We'll see. I don't doubt if McCabe gave him the go ahead, he'd close the deal and have the player.

pommpey

Of course he should,just to satisfy a bloke who never attends matches and only surfaces when we lost 2 matches on the trot this season

Oop! Here we go. The feller whose spent much of the day handjobbing the more adroit posters who can engage in debate, mustering enough cerebral power (one picowatt) to reduce the conversation to the tired old subject of 'who is the biggest bastard blade, eh?' Groundbreaking stuff.

Whilst on the subject, it's noted that when we do lose, he himself is nowhere to be seen (thank fuck)

Tunstall, I give not one measly shit for your opinion. Hope that helps.

No problem accommodating the money-grabbing, dishonest leeches known as agents, then? With somebody else's money, naturally.

Tufty didn't ask McCabe for the go-ahead. His look of part surprise; part disgust said it all. He and Carl immediately agreed "No chance. That's the end of it". Indeed Schreiber actually commented that he wasn't even going to ask the board and CW didn't suggest he should.

McCabe only figures in this narrative to those who hold the agenda dear.

For me it is not so much about being pissed off that we couldn't get those deals done, as we absolutely shouldn't cave in to agents bumping up the cost last minute. One could argue the importance of getting your business done in good time to avoid this.

It is more about the quality of the pond Wilder was able to fish in. Then you should ask yourself who it is that determines this. I don't think that many people were jumping out of their seat with the names we were linked with.

The video of deadline day has been proved to be a sham by @jjblade,stage managed

If you say so love. I'm out on a 48hr fishing match at the moment so haven't the luxury to watch the movie though I did read the àrticle. I'm assuming you have the same level of ITK access as WWF and know the pre agreed arrangements between Chairman and manger so I'll bow to your greater knowledge.

Foxy - can you allow Tunstall the ability to press 'like' with his headwand multiple times please? I feel sorry for him you see.

On the twitter Sheffield United go by the @sufc_tweets name because @ sufc (but without the gap so I don't tag a member on here) was taken by a Blades fan. It was a tweet about Sheffield United, so they used their twitter name.

On that topic, I think the club should buy the SUFC Twitter name. A life time season ticket would be a fair price, I think.
