One positive is that we now have a striker who can play up front on his own.

And should we play like that, with attacking midfielders in behind, I think he'd work well with Brooks.

Think this is a fantastic signing! Cannot believe people are complaining. He is imo exactly what we needed, clever, quick & powerful and will create space! Has everyone on her forgotten about The Chief & Neil Shipperley? He's an upgrade on Clarke and now I've seen he's only signed a 1 year deal I'm even happier. Common sense signing again from CW.

Plus we've also today signed a fantastic young prospect in central defence and kept hold of young Brooksy. I'm almost certain some of you would moan no matter what we did.

There are a load of clubs Billy could be playing for now and not scoring goals - and that certainly includes Birmingham City. He played for us (remember the good ol' days?) and couldn't score goals, despite being younger and fitter; was he the problem? All you doom merchants would be wise to keep your powder dry, and wait and see what playing in a Chris Wilder 11 does for Clayton Donaldson. If he bags one at Hillsborough he'll be another Blades hero.

Yes we said that when we signed porter not bad have a few good games not in United colours he didn't GAMBLE GAMBLE people have gone mad

Danny, sorry to disappoint you mate, but I think you'll find that Donaldson's days as a sprinter are well behind him. What we are getting is a willing trier, as you say, perhaps with a touch of Chief about him, but definitely equipped to play at this level and bring much needed experience when needed. He's signed for a season, so it's not as if we're shooting ourselves in the foot by having him here. Like many on here I'd hoped to see other players come in, but it wasn't meant to be, so chin up, it won't be long until January!

I'm not gutted, but remember wilder said himself he wanted 4 players,so in that sense, it's a disappointing window. What is the point of the prince? Does he really want to be part of this club or not!

By the sounds of it, we've been messed about by a couple of agents, looks like Wilder was frustrated by a couple. I'm happy with with signing though and the window in general. You might be right re pace but he still imo adds something, he's better than what we have (other than Sharp) so we continue to improve as a squad. Plus like you say not a big risk on a one year deal.

we got the lad from spurs defender donaldson striker and another scottish defender
he did say 3 or 4 , so he got 3

Also looking at Donaldson's twitter this guy will be a legend in the dressing room.

He is a hard working striker who will hold the ball up and give us more strength up front. He won't score many and he won't give us pace but I imagine he will be a steady 7/10 most weeks. He will probably divide the fans. Half will love his work rate and half will hate his lack of pace and goal threat

We'll be fine fella, overall we're in reasonable shape, and we have a manager who everyone believes is working in the best interests of the Blades!

Not a comment on the Transfer Window but can someone enlighten me on what the Prince provides, wages one would assume ? Jim whoisit is long gone but apparently is still interested in the club.

About £15million so far. Its in the accounts. Obviously those complaining about lack of investment also complained ticket prices were too high against dingles.

He's quicker than most people think. I'm not saying he's rapid, but he can shift when needed.

I don't see pace as absolutely crucial either to be honest. I think we have addressed our main needs. A really quick striker would be a bonus.

I'll give him a chance, but I can't help but feel this was a last resort kind of signing. At 33 I doubt he has a lot left in the tank but maybe he could do a job, although his goal return last season was poor.

I know I like to load the shit shovel in McCabe's direction but it has to be said the Prince deserves his fair share of the blame at times.

And the evidence that Sharp is effective alongside a right handful up top, strong as an ox type is ......... ??????

Precisely nowhere !

Not what's required. IMHO.

I see things the same as you as a rule mate, but we're Sheffield United, not the Billy Sharp Benevolent Society. He has to do what we ask; not the other way round. He ain't Pele, Cruyff or Beckenbauer.

A sort of badly structured, unpunctuated, random capital, barely literate mad?

We've by the sounds of it missed out on three young players totally unproven at this level and signed one who is proven and known to be an absolute 100% workhorse.

Jerome Sinclair and his greedy agent have secured him 4 months of U23 football. Who is this kid? In terms of real football, he's had one poor spell with Birmingham. That's it. Same Birmingham Donaldson has been a regular at.

Devante Cole was sold by Bradford for 75k a year ago. He's got off to a good start with 4 in 5. Billy has this at a higher level. If he's quick, he may have been useful but comes with less relevant experience than Sharp, Clarke and Evans at this level. Certainly Donaldson is a lot more proven.

Dominique Quina and his greedy agent has secured him 4 months of U23 football when nobody else was in for him. Nice work! I never saw when he would play. Brooks should have the opportunities this lad was going to get. Certainly at 17, not a player we could rely upon, bonus signing at best.

We've made a low risk commitment of 1 year to a guy who has been proven at this level for a few years now. So we take to the field next game with two proven strikers. I don't see the issue. All very sensible from Wilder.

Another option up top. Ok so not a 25 goal a season man but if he chips in to supplement Billy not a bad thing.
He's a defenders nightmare and occupies a centre half and this puts onus on the midfield pushing up and bursting through - time for Fleck, Coooooots and Carruthers to up the goals scored from midfield.
