Fair enough if you've seen him play Robbie. :)

I wrongly assumed that you we're writing him off based on a quick Google.

One was a youth international game, so maybe not the best indication, but he just doesn't seem ready. Either for Championship football or the way we play. Too raw. I'll happily be proved wrong if he does sign.

Really can't see us doing 4 - so it could suggest Sinclair has fallen through and we're thinking of 2 behind sharp rather than 2 up top.

I'm looking forward to seeing him play tho.

Still think we need a box to boxer for competition in the middle.
He's going to have to be very good to oust any of the 1st team at his age.bladeinleeds. If there's injuries/suspensions, maybe.

Supposed to be a wonderkid. Arsenal offered him a contract before he went to West Ham. But he is only 17. Midfielder. Might be used as a replacement for a tiring Duffy for the last 20 mins although Brooks could do that....

I don't know if there is anything in this but it's worth pointing out that Tufty, One Knill and the gang will have seen a great deal more of both this kid and David Brooks than any of us has.

Doesn't make any sense. Why sign a 17 year old on loan when we have an extremely talented 20 year old in the same position?

Not saying this is the case, but what if this lad is twice the player Brooks is ?

I just don't get where he would play.

Is he going to oust any of the holy trinity in midfield? If he was good enough to do that, would he potentially be here on loan?

Are we going to change formation to play 2 behind Sharp? Even if we do I would imagine that Duffy and Carruthers would be starters for this.

A bizarre deal IMO if it happens, he fits none of the positions we need to fill.

If we sign another CAM where does this leave Carruthers?

He doesn't have enough end product to play there for me

That's easy to answer. We're selling Brooks to Wolves for a substantial undisclosed fee! I joke but you wouldn't be surprised to see Brooks has left today would we!

About the 5th time this guy's done this.

Rumour Mill. Have a look. Post there if no existing thread. It's not difficult.

Twice actually the C.C.V and this one to be fair i didn't even know their was a rumour mill I just log in and scroll down to the main posts

Agree, it doesn't make obvious sense.
He's a player for the future, not the here and now.
Also he's a midfielder, this is the area we have the most cover so it wasn't a massive priority.
He also seems to be a Portuguese version of David Brooks, so where does that leave Brooks.

However maybe it's a way of bringing in a quality back up player on the cheap.
Maybe we might play 1 up front with an additional attacking midfielder.
If gives us a chance to have a close look at a highly rated talent
And maybe if we like what we see we'll put a bid in for him next season.

Looking forward to listening to how Wilder explains this loan. Wilder and Knill have clear tactical plans, so I'm confident the motives behind the loan will be valid and logical.

I see West Ham fans are banging on about 2006 deadline day when they signed Tevez and Mascherano but they forget that they actually got relegated not that long after us and then had to pay £25m to us of course - which they certainly haven't forgotten! Anyway I hope this lad signs for us and goes on to be brilliant and kisses the Blades badge each time he scores! Thankfully Slaven Bilic has more sense than West Ham fans - but that's not saying much is it!

As I've said above, our manager, coaches and scouts will have seen a great deal more of both players than any of us.

The Brooks mania is becoming a little bit embarrassing now. He's got talent and potential but he's done nothing yet, in truth. Our recruitment policy should be governed according to the best interests of Sheffield United, not blinkered by those of a promising kid.

You mean like the 17 year old we're signing on loan in the same position as our 20 year old plays?

Tufty doesn't see things in that restricted, regimented way. It's an 18 man game for him. He adjusts the team between and especially during matches better than any manager I've seen. Seen in that light, it's not so bizarre.

That doesn't make any sense. The 17 year old might be significantly better than the 20 year old. That's the point. If Tufty brings the lad in it will be because he thinks it will benefit Sheffield United, not because he wants to do the lad a favour. That's how it should be. We don't condition our recruitment to suit David Brooks or any other individual, but rather our club.

What people are forgetting in all this hysteria over bringing in another player over David Brooks is that Brooks is actually a winger playing out of position in our formation. This simply allows us more options centrally and possibly gives us the ability to utilise Brooks in his correct position.

Agree.......this signing might initially seem illogical

But Wilder and Knill have a track record of making logical common sense signings.

So I'm sure everything will be fine
Will be really interesting listening to Wilders interview explaining why he's signed Quinn and what plans he has for him. I've no doubt he'll provide an excellent explanation.
