Unless....

George Long saved us twice. No one really performed other than Long.

Biggest plus point for me was George Long, that lad is the best keeper we've had by a country mile!

On this evidence he looks like being our best keeper since we entered the league and can only have a positive effect on our defence who already look more confident knowing they have someone behind them they can trust.

Also, we should have another chance to see George Long build on his excellent display against Watford.
He's a decent keeper

Yeah but someone needed to start a thread about something. Look at me, I am posting important stuff on an internet forum it seemed to say.

I was happy with the OP and thought it was just someone wanting to show how a much maligned player has turned things round. It may even make a few bob for the club which could benefit the first team.

Some of the knobs who have put the boot in ought to have a word with themselves. Let it go FFS!

Why is there a campaign to slag George Long even when he is not playing for us and gets man of the match
award. He has been made a scapegoat for a couple of underpar performances over 12 months ago.Let the lad get on with his career and stop hating him ffs

why are you quoting me?? i was supporting him

George isn't a bad keeper.. Needs to work on his Vocality and flapping. I mean , let's face it. You couldve had Buffon between the sticks. But when you've got clowns like mceverly and Collins in front of you.. your always going to have problems. The abuse he was getting from blades fans too doesn't help. In fact, it was absolutely disgusting.

May I remind people that George is currently our number two keeper. He is a contracted SUFC player. Just like Moore. Blackman is, of course, contracted to Chelsea. In 2018/19, when Blackman has long gone, we are going to need a number two. Just like we did in our very successful 2016/17 season. Once Ramsdale had gone, George was that number two.

I'm delighted that George appears to be having a good start to the season. Hope it continues before he returns home to BDTBL.

Personally, I think George Long is a better keeper than some give him credit for. Yes he has made ricks but so do a lot of keepers. We, as fans, IMO, are sometimes less benevolent than other teams fans. Go on now, I've got mi tin 'at on.

I think people in the game KNOW that George has talent and has the potential to be a really good goalie.

He reminds me a little of Joe Hart, George is capable of pulling off brilliant reflex saves but seems to make really bad errors every now and then which can affect his confidence. Football is a funny game and personally I wouldn't write him off yet. Also I think George needs a good defence around him and needs to be more vocal. That was the quality I immediately noticed with Moore, he shouts at the defence helping them to be aware of where the danger is.

My main problem with him was he didnt get better in the 5 years or so he played for us. He could be a decent keeper but his confidence was rarely high. When we dropped him for Moore last season we almost instantly looked better at the back.

I wish him all the best, as i do all blades, but I think his ship has sailed. Over to you George to prove me wrong.

I maintain that a significant number of fans contributed to the lack of confidence – there was a completely self-destructive kick-a-man-when-he's-down approach in a number of games, and some of what I witnessed I've never seen doled out to even the worst individuals to wear the shirt. That's not to say he'd have been a success had the support been better (he very likely wouldn't), but I imagine he'd have been generally less poor.

He needs to play regularky away from the Lane and he will be fine. Our fans attack the kids more than the experienced ones. A lot of the cowards sit behind me. One game Long came flying out of his goal and headed one away, it went to one of their players on the half way line. One of his biggest fans behind me was shouting for the player to hit it quick, he's off his fucking line!

Can't fault his enthusiasm!
Think he has always been a useful shot stopper. Hope this loan affords him the opportunity and fan support to regain confidence and improve other parts of his game.
GLTTL He came into a very poor team at a very young age.
