He needs to go out on loan, for me. I don't think these cameos here and there are doing him any good as a player.

He's unlikely to get a run of games under his belt for us. If we could get a couple of strikers in, and loan him out until Christmas, as long as he stays injury-free I think we'll get a much better player back.

But if we do that at minute, that leaves us with a back up strike force of injury prone ched and James Hanson :eek:

You're dislike for Lavery is prolific and really does you no favours.

If you don't let it go that hatred will eat you from the inside...

To be quite honest i don't think Lavery pulled up any trees last season, and i don't think this season he will match what we need.

Without rubbishing him, he came in, gave it a good go, but up to press hasn't been good enough, and i think he is one of the players who we need to get rid of.

Lavery, who has had hardly any chances or any run of games has to go? give him a fair crack of the whip first!

Coming on as a sub here and there and playing in some shitty cup games with players you've hardly played with isn't a good barometer to automatically bin him off.

There's no way he should go before we sign at least one striker.

He's still at least a useful sub until then.

It looks like we're making Hanson available. If he goes then Lavery could only really be allowed to leave if we signed 2 strikers. Wilder will want at least 5 to choose from.

Against Walsall (?) I think, he fell after a tangle and CW was bellowing at him to get up. Lavery didn't look happy and neither did CW. I don't think they are best of pals and IMO if something doesn't change, Lavery may be looking for a new team.

All this is my opinion only.

We currently have one striker who is fancied to be a mainstay in our starting eleven, and as Bladey as we all are, and as much as we love him, he can't be expected to carry us in the goals department.

There's question marks over every other striker on our books. We don't have a Championship standard strike force. We need at least one more, and he needs to be good.

He could easily find himself starting. Ched is still working his way back to full fitness so it only takes an injury to Sharp or Clarke.

If we bring in another striker who is a genuine challenger for a starting spot then fair do's, a loan might be sensible then.

He was ok last season nothing more, I've not written him off completely but then again I wouldn't be disappointed to see him go.

I'd like to think we would have the budget to sign at least one, but preferably two more strikers that are better than what we currently have.

I think Ricky called it right. He's Wilder's whipping boy. Every manager has one. It's just not very attractive as it seems a little obvious. To be held up and shown up publicly as " Ched's gone ahead of you in the pecking order" is wrong. That stuff is generally left to be said behind the scenes. Thing is that Lavery isn't going to take that. If he feels any injustice, he will just tell Wilder to stuff it. I would. GLTTL

Problem with Lavery is hes not a goal scorer, which is a problem when your a striker. Has a bit of skill about him, but not as quick as I thought he was going to be, just quick compared to Sharp and Hanson, which doesn't say much. He had chances to try and score himself both last season and this season but didn't take them or try too. We need Wilder to be ruthless and remove players who wont figure with any chance of being a 1st team regular and bring in someone who can.

I like Egg Custard pies and also Curd Tarts.

You may get your wish if things stay the same...

Give him time!
Not sure about the whipping boy bit, I always felt Wilder was above that.
Get head down Lavery remember Coutts and Freeman! And I am sure his time will come given Hanson and I expect Evans and Clarke to have injury problems given their histories. I think Sharp will struggle against some defences so may be starting but coming off earlier, a couple of injuries and it's Lavery's time let him come in from the left and curl them in just like Murphy used too.

This thread seems to have decided none of our strikers are good enough now.
They are all either slow (Billy / Hansen) , injury prone (Ched / Clarke) or just not skilled enough (Lavery).
Funny how one unlucky defeat can cause the seeds of doubt to suddenly sprout into green saplings of despondency.
