Cheating lino

It is the same replay running at the same time but one is zoomed in on JOC

No it isn't. georgethecat's analysis is perfectly correct and, if you care to look closely you can see players other than Leon are in different positions including Ched and Bash.

It was obvious from his previous decision against Freeman that the Lino was just another of those sad losers who wanted to be noticed at any cost.

It really isn't
I'm fuming. I think Boro deserved the win on their first half performance but it's like losing to a last minute goal. We have lots to improve but the only people disappointed performance wise are surely those who think we had a chance of promotion.
or maybe those of us who hope that come the end of the season that point we should have had at boro isn't the difference between staying up and relegation

Dude, the longer the season goes on, the more decisions there are, the more variables there are, the less statistical chance there is of things evening their chance out over the season. Elementary maths.

Tough break for the Blades a lost point can be huge, teams are relegated on goal diff never mind by 1 point.

Read earlier that linesman Dwyer who disallowed our goal tonight was the very same linesman Dwyer that failed to flag Oztumer offside on Wednesday night..

I don't think the Lino was a cheat. The offside decision on Freeman was completely incompetent. However it is very unlikely that cost us any points. The decision to disallow the goal was clearly difficult for the Lino in the split second he had to decide whether JOC was offside. He is however a professional and should get most of those decisions right but everyone can make a mistake. Video evidence showed clearly that it was not offside. We also had a goal wrongly disallowed last week. Fortunately that did not cost any points but had Brentford scored from the open goal it could have cost us 2 points. Who knows what the point lost today or the 2 points gained by Boro may mean at the end of the season? We were relegated from the PL by one goal never mind a point. However over a whole season the number of goals wrongly allowed or disallowed is probably significant and the number of points therefore wrongly won or lost is also significant. Football needs to get technology.

Irrespective if he was offside or not that does not matter because the ball went in the goal off a defender so the goal should of stood. Analysis on tv proved this point.

My son (who is a film maker) who knows about these things, like frames etc. spotted it the second it came on the screen, he took the picture immediately and sent it to Sky, he was fuming, not so much about the game but about Sky!

Mark Dwyer - getting offsides wrong two Blades games in a row... Though he was the one who got Freeman's red rescinded v. Brentford the other year.

I'd like to read their reply, if he gets one. When people are paying a fortune for their product, they have a right to expect an honest and impartial assessment. Their loyalty lies with the viewer not the FA.

Sky must have access to the latest cutting edge freeze frame technology and yet they've quite deliberately presented a second image that is obviously not in sync with the original. Whatever their reasoning, I think they should provide an explanation, they can only be either trying to justify the officials decision or their pundits opinion, because if they claim it's a genuine mistake, it goes way way beyond incompetence

Was it definitely Mark Dwyer? I've heard it was Paul Hodskinson, not sure if Dwyer was the other lino yesterday but looking at the footage from Brentford a few years ago it doesn't look like the same Lino as yesterday.

Dwyer has definitely run the line twice in two games (which seems madness in itself)... No idea which was which.

I'm not sure that it did not hit JOC after it hit the defender but the point is that if there was a video ref to be consulted he could have answered the question accurately.

Don't hold your breath :/

It's been confirmed it was Paul Hodskinson that made the error yesterday, so I'll give Dwyer a break on this one. Will keep an eye out for when Hodskinson is next at the Lane.

The Dingles have the delights of linesman flagging for none offsides tomorrow for their game against Forest.

Doesnt look like hes been given a game for Saturday either as asst ref or in national league north where he normally refs.

Probably shipped back to Bamber Bridge to ref some local league game ad punishment.
