For my fellows Blades who are fond of the old knee jerk reaction... I've distilled the words of the great Rudyard Kipling poem 'If' down a little for you. Wise words these....

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
........
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

If nothing else, the major positive from tonight's result is that it might persuade our owners to spend some money.

Right...like I should pay any attention to that reactionary imperialist. ;)

''A million surplus Maggies are willing to bear the yoke;
And a woman is only a woman, but a good cigar is a Smoke.''

Indeed...

2m bids in for coady and lenighan, bid in for leonard, that's what?? 4.5m added to the 2.5 we have already spent, think its fair to say the owners are willing to spend but any excuse to moan eh

Agreed but wolves have basically told us to go away in relation to coady!!. We've been after Leonard for months and the Southend chairman isn't prepared to do business at any cost!!. Blackburn on current form aren't going to start offloading one of their best players!. I M H O. I think we'll be alright over the course of the season but wilder may have to start looking elsewhere?.in wilder we trust. Utb

This is the season Blade on Blade makes a regular return, after a relative absence of........ one season.

Wonder how long it'll take for some to start slagging Wilder off?

Because obviously him and the team don't deserve the benefit of any doubt and the fact it's our first season back at this level is irrelevant.

exactly my point, so its not the board, they have effectively given wilder at least another 4.5m to spend, he may have to re think a target or 2, although lenighan was left out today so i can see that being sorted this week

Nobody likes seeing us lose but the reaction in places after yesterday did fuel my fears that some fans have ridiculous expectations for this season. It's only a minority in fairness

I haven't really read much of the forum after last night but I bet I could probably name the people who reacted in the knee jerk dickhead way described.

It'll be the same attention seekers.

Quote from Rudyard56........

I don't lie losing the same way as I like winning.....
