Is it wrong to hope we play badly and concede so we're out of the cup and can focus on the league?

My small amount of American currency:

Honestly to me it was night and day when Ched came on. Regardless of the furore about his personal issues, from a football point of view I was a little dubious due to injury and form and whatnot, but he was great tonight for my money. Pissed off the defenders, fought for the ball, got in the box, set stuff up. He was the kick up the arse we needed. It was great to see him score (though it's not his now) and come up to to the South Stand and Wilder, who grabbed him and gave him a half hug head rub thing, that was nice to see. Great response from the crowd too, which must be nice for him. One match though against League One opposition, so long way to go yet, but yeah.

Hanson looked a bit lost, he was too deep a lot of the time for me, and we just kept either hoofing it to him or giving him a difficult ball and he just hasn't got the touch to do anything with it, we were pretty crap first half to be honest, sideways instead of forward, wasteful.

Lavery worked hard all night but just didn't really do anything, Thomas and Bennett looked great, I'll keep my eye on Bennett, chunky but small, and quick, some good dribbling.

Lundstram was just there, nothing that stood out to me, Brayford was alright, not very 'dynamic', but he did a few good passes, he wasn't up to much positionally when we were attacking though. Still as a cover and cup option, if no bugger wants to pay for him we may as well use him while we're paying his wage, he's by no means awful.

Lafferty was fantastic as usual. Brooks looked the perfect amount of good so that we've got a chance of keeping him through this transfer window.

Eastwood was alright but I think Wilder will stick with Blackman, I said to my brother, Blackman could potentially keep Moore out when he's back fit, but I don't think Eastwood could yet.

Glad we won, and didn't take it to ET because I didn't dress for the weather, I was fecking freezing haha

Eastwood looks like a genuinely accomplished keeper with plenty of promise.

Bennett did OK but doesn't look ready for first team football yet.

Brayford showed very little of anything in either position.

Wright's run goes on. Even though we were shite. He's magic.

Lafferty slotted in comfortably at LCB, as I'd expect him to. Solid player. Good control and finish for the goal.

Thomas did well in an unfamiliar position, showed good flashes of ability, enough to make me think hell have a part to play this season.

Lundstram had a hard job with two attacking midfielders alongside him but still didn't look great.

Brooks showed what he can do but didn't have his best game. Defended well but gave the ball away too many times. It's a shame we were too shit to get near their box more often, because that's where he can do real damage. But maybe it helps our chances of keeping him for now.

Duffy was decent, looked fit and was a key player in the comeback. Positionally improved as the game went on.

Hanson stifles our attack most of the time when he plays. And we rarely make proper use of his aerial ability.

Lavery is unlucky but also frustrates the hell out of me sometimes. When he gets a proper chance to stake his claim it'll be in difficult circumstances - for example tonight he had to play with Hanson and in a poorly performing, unfamiliar team. But then he doesn't help himself by failing to control and keep hold of the ball. Until he sorts this out then he's not going to get in the team. He seems destined to be a nearly man.

Evans provided an instant improvement to our forward line and our play. More movement, more ability to keep the ball. Great strike for the goal, and a good assist for Thomas. Nice to have him back.

Basham also gave us a boost at RCB. Not sure whether he was unlucky or daft with the handball.

Didn't go last night so can't really comment on the performance but, looking at that starting line up & bench I think I'd be expecting them to beat anything Adkins put out for us in his season in charge, and yes, I'm aware there's a crossover of a player or two.
Just goes to show how far we've come in a short space of time when we can put that sort of team out as a so called second string.
