I purchased ST’s for me and my two lads in the Westfield Corner for this season. Due to distance from BDTBL we have never had ST’s before and with my little lad struggling to see much from the Kop we started off last season in the Family Corner/Pukka Pies stand but soon got fed up with the kindergarten two-year olds, (with all due respect to those Dad’s that have to take them!) although the view was very good.

Towards the end of last season we switched to the Westfield and although the view was/is exceptional we called it the “tourist” stand as it had a large element of foreign students and posh people who probably went to Uni in Sheffield and were returning with their offspring for a nostalgic visit, lots of young uns called Timothy, Charles and Sebastian you know, the half and half scarf types.

Anyway, despite the fact that we wont get to every single home game this year we decided the time was right for Season Tickets and I must admit that I was yearning to return to the Kop but it wasn’t really an option so the Westfield it was. I was quite surprised when I checked on-line a couple of weeks ago that a huge chunk of the corner is Season Ticket, in fact I would say probably 75%, maybe more….the atmosphere in there on Saturday was absolutely fantastic and it sounded to us as though we made a lot of noise, (not sure what it sounded like from the Kop) great to hear singing from all 4 sides again and long may it continue.

Good, it would be great if we could establish a good support base up there.

Hopefully it can develop across that whole stand as the season progresses.

switched from the Kop to hospital corner this season. Nothing will beat a big occasion standing Kop match - but am pleased with the decision. Atmosphere was great on Sat as it was last season v Bolton, for instance. South Stand start the chants and it carries over the corner.

My dad has got a season ticket up there this season. We've been going up there for a few years now and while it used to be full of daytrippers it seems to have changed a bit. I've been there while the atmosphere has been brilliant.
Obviously the view is great as well.

I've sat there once or twice and really enjoyed it. Hopefully now things are on the up it will become a bit noisier. As Ricky says, would be great to get a regular support base up there.

I am not a ST holder but have sat in there for most of the last 2 seasons, occasionally going in the family stand if my little lad fancies a different view.
It was the best atmosphere I have ever seen in there on Saturday, there seemed to be a lot of very loud and vocal groups in there as well. It was mayhem when we scored.
Long may it continue.

I was in there Saturday. Fantastic view, nice friendly people, bit more leg room and possible to get a beer at ht. I'll never sit on the kop only in absolute life or death emergencies (like the Westfield is sold out)

I'm not enjoying reading this thread at all.

I've tended to be up in the corner stand last few season with my grandson.
Agree the atmosphere has been almost always poor (apart from Bolton and maybe the Scunnie games)

This year we bought season tickets and he said he wanted to go somewhere with a better atmosphere.
His uncle took him to one match on the Kop last season and he loved it.

So this season we have season tickets on the Kop.
Asked his where he wants to sit and his reply was as near to the goal as possible.
Warned him the view would be poor but he said he's already been there and prefers being near the action.

So we are about 2 rows from the front just to the right of the goal.

You see the goal mouth action at the Kop end and feel close to play
But you don't see the game as well, think I'd rather be back in the corner stand.

If it wasn't for the kids wanting to get autographs, we would be in Westfield stand or upper tier. (ST holders in John st)

Atmosphere was really good in the corner on Saturday, and it has by far the best view in the stadium. No matter where you sit in it you get a perfect view of the game.

After sitting on the Kop for all those years that makes a nice change!

I've a ST up there. The views fantastic and agree with others that it lacked the atmosphere last season except for a few games. Saturday it really was good. I'm only 5 ft so leg room is never an issue.

Hopefully the popularity only grows and it generates its own unique atmosphere up there. (I'm trying to avoid "singng section" as that's manufactured) This could grow organically and become an even more popular area, which in time spreads to the BLUT. And before you know it you have the KOP and Westfield generating large amount of noise.

I noticed the corner fed off G & H block and vice versa on Saturday. Long may it continue.

Don't you get autographs as players arrive at or leave the ground? At least we did "back in the day" so don't get why where you sit in the ground matters.

Been up there for a few seasons. Not fun not being able to sit where we felt like on the day :)

Have some guys sat behind us who spent the whole match talking rather loudly about racing results and how Forfar were getting on. I say the whole match except they arrived 10 mins after kick off, went for half time drinks straight after the goal, came back 10 mins after the restart and then left 10 mins before the end.

Funniest comment was in first half. Can't remember who it was who got the ball smashed in their face from about 2 yards but they were shouting to get up and stop pissing about slowing the game down!

I sit on the kop and I couldn't say you could hear the Westfield corner particularly, thats only because the whole fuckin ground were singin, but you could see all around the ground people enjoying it, the lane of old, intimidating, brilliant

What kind of weird magic is this? People go to football but are able to speak about unrelated issues whilst watching the game in front of them? Unbelievable ;)

No problem if they are watching the game :)

Problem is they were giving a running commentary on the Forfar Athletic game!!

I go up there occasionally,i think the last time was the Bolton game...It can be a bit like the OP described it,but great view...The lads described by Mobileblade sound familiar...sounds like the one's sat near me for the Bolton game...The stand was like a Library when 3 lads turned up 5 minutes after Kick off half pissed, shouting stuff at the players, calling them shit and cracking crap jokes before leaving 15 mins before HT and same at FT...they hardly saw any of the game.
Some games I've been up there and it's been half decent atmosphere...you can't hear the Kop much though from there.
Decided to go on the Lane Upper Saturday, that can be similar in atmosphere, but good view if you get central.

My dad has a season ticket there this season and I joined him on Saturday. I have only ever sat on the kop before.

Positives: Excellent view and nice fellow supporters.

Negatives: I felt a bit out of place when the passion gets away with me and I have to shout at the players or opposing fans or the ref (flipped the bird to Brentford when we scored)... not sure that went down too well with some around me (appreciate there are kids around but I was a kid once)

I was in the BLUT with my little girl behind the goal. Great view great atmosphere! Was a tad apprehensive as after several visits to the Corner and BLUT for the Chesterfield game but really enjoyed it, everybody in good spirits and as has been said a much better experience than normal. Seeing/hearing G and H blocks stand and sing then the Corner sang up, the Kop was in fine voice and it looked and sounded great so keep up the good work one and all!! I will definitely be going back onto the BLUT from now on until the Kop is bulldozed and built properly......

Couldn't imagine anything worse than being up there with the part timers if we started losing god forbid.

Nowt wrong with day trippers. You've got start somewhere.
I'd sooner they come to the lane than go to Swilsborough.
