Yep. Owns the ground, training ground, hotel, every house in Dore and several Manhattan penthouses, all paid for by the fans, the cash from every single transfer fee he's presided over and his pickpocket teams who terrorise BL every home gain.

He also has a nice house, car and an expensive watch. It's terrible.......

I heard he used his gold plated Benz to crash into a couple of mature Oak trees on Rustlings Road as well before the last home game. The reg plate was apparently "Murf £££".

...you forgot the two 'Luxury health clubs'...again!!

He has what all clubs crave – the ability to run passed opponents. He can also see and execute that ‘killer pass.’

In 118 minutes of pre-season football, spread across 4 games, against professional opposition, he has scored two goals and made two assists. This after being named ‘Player of the {2017 Toulon} Tournament.’

He has huge – possibly, ‘once in a generation’ - potential. His real value is unlikely to be achieved by selling too soon, as we did with Walker and Maguire.

We were told, promotion to The Championship would mean we would not be under the same pressure to sell our best young players. McCabe says, “We do not sell {our best} players unless {our best} players wish to go.” Brooks says, “I love it here at Sheffield United and, the same as all the other lads, my aim is to play as often as possible and help the club do well.” So don’t sell, Kev.

We have proven, beyond doubt that selling our best players and replacing them with inferior ones is no guarantee of success. So why not hold our nerve and build something special for the longer term?
Just as Southampton did when keeping hold of their best young players (Lallana, Schneiderlin, Oxlade-Chamberlain etc.) and winning back-to-back promotions between 2010-2012. OK, Oxlade-Chamberlain was sold to Arsenal for £15m in August 2011 aged just 18 but, by then, he’d played 36 games in their League One promotion season and scored 9 goals. Doesn’t this prove the point, that keeping hold of your best players for as long as is reasonably possible not only improves your chances of success but also means you get a ‘game-changing’ fee when you do eventually sell? As Southampton, again, proved in selling Schneiderlin and Lallana for £25m each?

Finally, Blades fans live off memories of ‘great’ players (Hagan, Gillespie, Shaw, Currie, Woodward, Deane et al), or even ‘very good’ ones (Hodgkinson, Badger, Edwards, Morris, Brown, McCall, Jagielka et al). It helps sustain us through the dark times. Brooks shows signs of providing us with many more great memories, given the chance.

Excellent O.P.

If another big club is interested then the least we have to pay him to keep him would be £12k a week or thereabouts.

That for a player who Wilder was sending out on a season long loan only two, maybe three weeks ago.

I understand the case for keeping and the case for selling. Like McCabe has always said, it's the attitude of the player that determines the destiny of the player. Would he pay him £12k? Would Wilder say he wants him rather than say 3 other players. Would Wilder pick him first choice many times? I don't think so, certainly not for a few months, he's already stuffed midfield with quality experienced players. £12k a week for a young lad to sit on the bench!!

Not long ago we didn't even insist on sell-on clauses for some strange reason, probably nothing more than naive Chief Execs who hadn't a clue what they were doing, despite being on £500k a year.

The key to me is to insist on a sell-on clause of 20%, maybe more. I'd sell him for £5m/ £7m minmum and spend big now or in January or next summer.

As for the lad saying he is happy to stay in S2, that's what he has to say surely. If Everton come knocking he's off. He will not sit on a bench there, he could go to a L1 club and get 40 games under his belt.

One day we can keep 'our own' but we are way off that yet frankly - unless the Prince really does intend to invest big and I'm sure KM would match him.

Dont sell David Brooks ...... at any price ?

There is probably a price that can by any player, so no, I'm not saying don't sell at any price. My point is selling too early in the life cycle of a young player, who shows signs of being exceptional, e.g. Walker and Maguire, generally means selling too cheap.

Sorry, which transfers didn't we insist on sell on clauses?

Apparently spotted getting some new alloys down Eccy road - no doubt coming out of the Brooks sale. Cunt.

Walker being sold at the price he was is a bigger mystery than the cup ticket money that went missing from Woolhouses desk.

Maguire however, was referred to as " Leadboots" by quite a few of our fans. Let's not rewrite history as if he looked anywhere near as good how he looks now.

He went Napoleons and just put the money from the Duffy sale last January on Red. Just laughed and Ordered Krug when it came up Black.

(I may need to check this out but it's believable to some).

He's not got my watch. Ha Ha you'll never get that yer Belgian robber.

You weren't there. They didn't have Krug. They had to send out to West 10 and Nonnas for as much Cristal as they'd got. He were right pissed off.

I was there. Dad, I mean Kev, wouldn't be seen in those poseurs shitholes. Got his own table in Barry's. Cristal is for those who know the price of everything and the value of nothing btw.

Kev was with me. If you like Cristal you like Cristal. I know that some twats drink it because it is the most expensive thing on the list. If you are like my wife she likes Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill vintage. I prefer Veuve Cliquot La Grande Dame at about two thirds the price. Kev was pissed. Cristal was what he wanted and that was what he got. I paid and I like it.

Six reasons we might....

£? 000 000

Some fans did mis-label him but others saw huge potential from his first, 'man of the match,' performance against Cardiff. At any rate, £2m looked a terrible piece of business at the time and even worse given the strong argument that, had we stood firm and required that he saw out his contract, we'd have won promotion a year earlier.

I know as Blades fans our history is really not kind with regards to selling players, but it might help if we didn't regularly indulge in masochistic fantasies over things which haven't happened yet.

We're onto a good thing right now. Let's enjoy the wild(er) ride and stay positive, because unlike the rest of our recent history, we actually have good reason to.

No, we shouldn't sell Brooks. I really think, football-wise, this is the best place for him to develop.

I still don't understand why people think that United, whether the manager, the owners or anybody want to part with their assets for any less than the going rate. There are videos of the staff telling us why players have left for what they did, the only exception being Kyle Walker which remains a mystery, all the others are explained. It is clear that people are not looking at, or understanding or simply disagree with what the owner says about player sales.
Here is a quote from Kevin McCabe talking about the sale of Murphy but it applies equally to all players, 'why would we want to sell him cheaply? Is the question you should ask me and the answer is of course we won't sell him cheaply, if the player wants to go we'll do our darnedest to get the best price. It may not seem the best price to supporters who aren't in the front line...'

Simplest reason even ignoring hat fact he looks a great prospect who can aid the team to me is that in this market for young player if He plays regular games and performs like we think he's capable of then his value will be 5/6 times what he currently is.

Adams went for c1/2m had a half decent season and Birmingham have knocked back a £5m bid.

I don't believe they want to sell them cheap I just don't think they actually understand the market we are in.

Fine we have had to get rid of them to finance our stay in league one I understand than but £1m is literally nothing these days.

Players that show even a glimps can be snapped up for 5 times that when they actually play.

There's no real upside to getting rid of players before they have played if you think they are going to make it.

Trust wilder to sell them the club, sell them the vision and think long term about playing football and why would they want to leave and sit on a premier league under 23 squad

How could we, McCabe claimed not to look at what other teams do/are doing...

I may be wrong. I may misinterpret this situation. I may be completely out of it with my expectations. However, how I will interpret our intention and ability to deliver this season depends upon Brooks staring in our first team in the first week of September 2017. That is all. NN x

My opinion ss by the end of the season, he will not be with us. Thats not pessimism, its just based on experience. Like that one mate who always backs out of a night out at the last minute. You think "maybe this time he'll come" but you get a last minute text saying hes shagging your wife. Fuck you Steve.

I agree, but if the hype is true and a Premier League team makes him a millionaire based purely on his potential (as well as offering United a huge fee), then his football development will be entirely secondary.

In Brooks position I'd jump at the chance of life-changing money and hope to be sent out on loan to complete my development. In United's position, I'd cling on and do all I could to extend his stay, but if the player wanted out and the money was good... Well then eventually I'd accept it.

Diego De Girolamo is Brook's warning from history. Your worth on paper as a potential talent is short-lived and fragile.

Get these points on a postcard and send it to Messrs McCabe and Prince.

  1. He's our player
  2. He's our player
  3. He's our player
  4. He's our player
  5. He's our player
  6. He's our player

I'm with you all the way on that one Bohemian but I would put Hodgy in the first group of legends he was a great keeper in my opinion of course

The key is to get him in the team ASAP to see what he can do, sink or swim. If he's good enough it will be the latter. He's now 20, he's not a baby, so there's no reason to piss around in the U21's or 23's or whatever the second string is called these days. If he plays and plays well it will settle him down and all the transfer talk will abate for a while.
He's a rare talent and we have brought him along carefully. To rush him now would be stupid,he came here as a talented boy he is showing his ability now but he still needs careful handling and his talent will flourish.
As one or two posters have commented let's enjoy him while we have him as for sure the big nobs will come calling soon enough.
I sure the club know we have a special player and will get the best deal possible when the time comes. He could be worth a really big fee and as I said the nobs will circle at some point.
Would be great to keep him and build a team round him but the Chelsea's ,Man city etc will always get the best in the end.
Wouldn't it be great to go back to a maximum wage structure ( pre early 60 s )
we and a lot of other clubs would be able to compete for best players but alas those days are long gone.
