He has what all clubs crave – the ability to run passed opponents. He can also see and execute that ‘killer pass.’

In 118 minutes of pre-season football, spread across 4 games, against professional opposition, he has scored two goals and made two assists. This after being named ‘Player of the {2017 Toulon} Tournament.’

He has huge – possibly, ‘once in a generation’ - potential. His real value is unlikely to be achieved by selling too soon, as we did with Walker and Maguire.

We were told, promotion to The Championship would mean we would not be under the same pressure to sell our best young players. McCabe says, “We do not sell {our best} players unless {our best} players wish to go.” Brooks says, “I love it here at Sheffield United and, the same as all the other lads, my aim is to play as often as possible and help the club do well.” So don’t sell, Kev.

We have proven, beyond doubt that selling our best players and replacing them with inferior ones is no guarantee of success. So why not hold our nerve and build something special for the longer term?
Just as Southampton did when keeping hold of their best young players (Lallana, Schneiderlin, Oxlade-Chamberlain etc.) and winning back-to-back promotions between 2010-2012. OK, Oxlade-Chamberlain was sold to Arsenal for £15m in August 2011 aged just 18 but, by then, he’d played 36 games in their League One promotion season and scored 9 goals. Doesn’t this prove the point, that keeping hold of your best players for as long as is reasonably possible not only improves your chances of success but also means you get a ‘game-changing’ fee when you do eventually sell? As Southampton, again, proved in selling Schneiderlin and Lallana for £25m each?

Finally, Blades fans live off memories of ‘great’ players (Hagan, Gillespie, Shaw, Currie, Woodward, Deane et al), or even ‘very good’ ones (Hodgkinson, Badger, Edwards, Morris, Brown, McCall, Jagielka et al). It helps sustain us through the dark times. Brooks shows signs of providing us with many more great memories, given the chance.

Could be a great piece of business selling him now for a million with add ons we could guarantee us another windfall in 4 years to help keep us going.

Dont sell David Brooks ...... at any price ?

Not everyone will agree but hopefully mccabe and the Prince are hoping no offers come in for him then there is no decision to make.the problem only comes in once a premiership team comes in and offers a couple of million and the young lad starts to get a tad excited, once that happens it would usually be the beginning of the end, lets hope no decision has to be made and we can all enjoy watching him this season and making a name for himself in years to come by scoring a hat trick against the redneck scumbags,

How's about we just let the lad get on with his game and keep on improving without the added talk of cashing in for mega bucks or putting him under increased pressure. If his progress continues the big boys may come knocking but we can deal with that as and when. For now it's just enjoyable watching a young talented player blossom that happens to be wearing a blades shirt. Long may it continue

The key is to get him in the team ASAP to see what he can do, sink or swim. If he's good enough it will be the latter. He's now 20, he's not a baby, so there's no reason to piss around in the U21's or 23's or whatever the second string is called these days. If he plays and plays well it will settle him down and all the transfer talk will abate for a while.

Yet!

Here's one

Errrrrrr, except McBlade only owns half the club for a starters. And we're loss making so any sales revenue is offset against losses..... Any more Sean Thornton ?

Or maybe I missed a smiley winkey face...

Only that - at the date of the last accounts at least- the football club doesn't owe him any money that he could take.

whatever we sell him for itll just go into mcabes pocket anyway....
I presume this was not a serious comment - although sadly there are some idiots on here who believe this!
There's only one circumstance where we may have to sell him and that's if a PL club comes in and is prepared to offer him say £20k pw and the lad's head is turned and he decides (or probably his agent decides) that he wants to leave. However if the article in the Star reports him correctly that he loves being here, and the fact he has been ditched once by a PL club (Man City's academy) hopefully he will see that his best interests lie in staying with us at least until the end of this season and hopefully (if he develops as we hope) beyond that. After that no one can predict but I do not believe there is any supporter (including KM) who would want to sell him.

If the brayford situation is anything to go by then he will be flogged at the first sign of an offer

We need to keep brooks for as long as possible!. I think he could be a great asset over this coming season! I M O. He fits perfectly into the wilder style of play?. McCabe and the prince need to hold their nerve and reject any offers?. I M O. 6 days left and counting!!. UTB FTP.

1) United are in the Championship
2) Most of the championship clubs are 'BUYING' player for 3, 4, 5 mill pound, this to try and reach the promised land.
3) Most championship clubs pay Championship wages?
4) To get promoted, and recive that 'POT OF GOLD' (unfortunately) you need to invest!
5) United are always reluctant to invest
6) If we are not willing to invest at least keep our most promising players
7) No need to sell, we already have the extra from the Championship and the Walker money + plus the Prince?
8) Its not costing us anything to keep Brooks!
9) If Premiere Clubs come knocking, then remember that ALL Premier Clubs have pots and pots of money and that 5mil is small change to them all.
10) If United want to cash in then these clubs should Pay! Not even 5mil is enough!
11)
12)
Etc.

I'm not saying go out and spend millions on players, just polnting out that we have yet another player showing promise so not selling him would send a message to our supporters and the rest of football that we are no longer small time.

These Premier clubs are always telling us how 'special' they are, well they should be made to pay the special Price!

yes... but back to the accepting the first offer for brayford....
That's not what I meant, we are obviously trying to freeze brayford out due to his wages
Which suggests to me the budget is very tight
My apologies should have explained this better originally

I think whats being done is that Wilder is recruiting players which suit him, Done, Brayford and Wallace are all transfer listed for this reason

Freezing Brayford out for his wages doesn't make sense, we'd be better off playing him until a buyer can be found. I suspect he'll have a season loan to League one if not

It's far "sexier" to suggest some sort of fall out rather than Tuftys 'type of player" being the reason.

Unless it's JB's use of hair/beard dye which has sickened our manager so much, like it has some of our fans.

Because he's clearly made a fortune out of the club by doing this before?

Yep. Owns the ground, training ground, hotel, every house in Dore and several Manhattan penthouses, all paid for by the fans, the cash from every single transfer fee he's presided over and his pickpocket teams who terrorise BL every home gain.

He also has a nice house, car and an expensive watch. It's terrible.......
