Simon Lappin - possibly the worst debut I've seen since a certain GK's horror 45 mins. Looked as though he'd been plucked from the crown to play and he didn't improve move much after that.

Unbelievably, he's still playing for a living.

92 season, quite simply, the best away shirt in my lifetime for me!! Fuck purple.

Barely a living. York City.

Two recent loans that I thought made good contributions were Holt and Baptiste.

We never had a player called Phil Starbug to see mate. You missed nowt.

Starbuck was a world beater on loan..........and then we signed him....

Like the earlier poster, this thread should have stopped at Bobby Davison.

Scoring two goals against the pigs with all their big 'stars' at the sty is about as good as it gets. That was in the top division too (the year before the prem), so although Reid, Phillips, Walker, Cahill etc were very decent, they all played at a lower level for us.

He wasn't particularly popular after his antics in our defeat at Elland Road but he made up for it in the best possible way.

It's interesting but it looks like the bad seasons coincided with lots of loan signings

Didn't Simonson have a good loan spell?

Indeed he did. I was going to mention him until I saw your post.

Good keeper in his teens and 20s. Who knows what happened after he signed permanently.

Glynn Hodges was a loan signing we had raffle so we could pay for him!

Agree with Davison for impact. Another derby day debutant & and goalscorer was Arturo Lupoli, we didn't bother with a raffle that time!

I thought it was Redknapp who decided he was having him back? Didn't he then loan Naughton out?
It was something like that yeah. I had it my head Naughton went on loan to another team and Blackwell kicked off about it, so Redknapp said they're our players we'll do what we want, in fact we'll have Walker back while you're on the phone Kev.

Not what I heard. The story I was told was that it was a row about appearance or win bonuses and who was paying them. Nowt to do with Naughton.

while Sir Bobby Davidson deserves all the praise for putting the pigs to the sword .
I remember him when playing for Weeds up the road and him constantly kicking Simon Tracey everytime they went for the ball together .
Still a fantastic loan signing though .

Can't imagine Trace being too bothered. He looked like he could take a right beating, shrug his shoulders and knock you out.

What a wanker Redknapp is

Didn't he get promptly loaned out to Villa and then score for them against us in the Cup?
No, went to QPR first. Then Villa. Can't remember if he scored for them against us. I don't remember that much from the Blackwell era other than we were shit and he was crap. (Actually I remember more than that but I'm trying to forget).

The dark ages where we finished a deplorable 8th in the Championship ;)
