Apparently Iain Hume is having his face put back together this week and all the Dingles are up in arms about it... apparently it was an elbow and Morgan should have been sent off.

Now I'm yet to see it again, but at the time, all I saw was Morgan heading the ball with Hume challenging in the air. For me, I was mystified as to why he was booked.

Did anyone else have a different view at the time?

EDIT:

From T'Star

BARNSLEY striker Iain Hume is in hospital being treated for a fractured skull.

The Candadian international was injured in Saturday's South Yorkshire derby. His condition deteriorated yesterday and he was taken in for surgery.

He was being kept in a high dependency unit.

Hume, who turned 25 on October 31, was hurt in a clash with Sheffield United skipper Chris Morgan as both challenged for a header in the first half.

Morgan was booked for the incident by referee Andy D'Urso.

Hume came off clutching his face. He was groggy after the match and felt worse as the weekend progressed.

It didn't look like too much too either at the time.

Hope he's alright though!

The Dingles are on about reporting Morgan to the Police for GBH.

They saw something I didn't in that case.

However it hapened lets wish him a speedy recovery and hope he is back to good health soon. Unfortunalty in football accidents do happen.

If Davey wasn't getting fined before his sending off on Saturday, I can see him getting one now.

Barnsley OS - DAVEY FUMES AT SICKENING DECISION

BARNSLEY striker Iain Hume faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a fractured skull and internal bleeding following a challenge by Sheffield United's Chris Morgan on Saturday.

Iain was forced to undergo emergency surgery over the weekend and is in the high dependency unit in hospital.

Reds manager Simon Davey said: "Our thoughts are with Iain at this time and we all wish him a very speedy recovery from what is a horrendous injury. There is no timescale regarding when he will be fit enough to return but he is in a stable condition.

"The decision not to show a red card was an absolute disgrace. Iain received no protection whatsoever from the referee on Saturday despite him telling Andy D'Urso about repeated use of the elbow and it sickens me just thinking about it. He could have died.

"Both Ryan (Kidd) and I and expressed our concerns at the treatment Iain had received through elbow challenges at half time but the referee made light of the situation and thought we were making too much of an issue that he had dealt with by showing a only yellow card.

"Iain is now in hospital with a fractured skull because of that challenge that seemingly warranted only a yellow card from Andy D'Urso.

"It beggars belief that you send a manager to the stand when a referees assistant makes a decision from 70 yards down the pitch; yet a challenge like this seen from 15 yards away, which ends with Iain suffering a fractured skull, goes virtually unpunished.

"I am fed up as a manager that referees always seem to take the side of a perceived 'bigger' club in our own stadium to the extent that we now have a playing laying in a hospital bed with a fractured skull.

"In the last two home matches we have had four stonewall penalties turned down by referees, including a WWE style throw on Darren Moore last Saturday. It is beyond a joke and decisions like these cost people their jobs".

stone wall penalty on darren moore? heres me thinking he had hold of morgan as much as morgan did him!

What annoys me is the fact they think Morgan should have been sent off because of the injury sustained by Hume. Would they still be up in arms about it if Hume had been ok and carried on? Accidents do happen in football and always will. An injury should not determine the punishment.

An injury should not determine the punishment.

Indeed... accidents do sometimes happen.

Morgan has been almost knocked out himself this season. It wasn't Petr Cech's fault that Rob Hulse broke his leg.

If it was (or is even) proven to be malicious then that's a different thing entirely, but I really didn't see it.

possibly he's suffered more damage because of failure to properly medically assess or monitor the situation by medical staff on the day. Injuries happen - the speed and quality of care is vital.

FFS... I can understand that Davey is upset, but he wants to have a word with himself.

I'd love to see anyone do a 'WWE style throw down' on Darren Moore, as he's absolutely immense. It'd have to be someone very strong.

No one wants to see a player injured, regardless of who they play for, but if you're to go around accusing people of this and that you should make sure that what you're saying is fact, not supposition.

Another thing - Morgan is a Barnsley lad, and I'm sure he's a fan, so why would he want to maliciously injure their players? Makes no sense.

Finally, it's nothing to do with us being a supposedly 'bigger' club. We're hardly of the stature of Man Ure or Chelsea, are we? Perhaps he should come and see some of the appalling decisions we get given against us. It might remove his blinkers a bit.

Also, Hume could have had a weakened skull from birth and not been picked up on. Its nothing people go looking for. If he's took a bang too it on the right spot it will fracture.

Morgan got booked so the ref did see what happened.

EDIT:

Just seen it on ont tele. Morgan did elbow him in the face. But he had his eye on the ball the whole time and look as though he was standing his ground. Can hardly said he meant to do it when hes got his eye on the ball the whole time.

Morgan should be locked up according to some on RS. Some interesting comments they're coming out with. They also think they should call back Howard from his loan deal..

Just seen the replay (why wasn't footage that good used for the highlights?)...

Gotta say it looks completely different to what it did in real time, he's swung his arm before and he hasn't actually jumped for the header.

I don't think he went to maliciously elbow Humes head as he looks at the ball throughout... but there's no real excuse for swinging an arm like that.

According to Radio Sheffield Barnsley are considering legal action, against either United or Morgan. Can somebody please explain to them what exactly an accident is?

Hume puts his head into it too trying to get in front of morgan but morgs shouldnt have his arms up like that.

Both have there eye on the ball when the collided.

Some dingles want him banned and lock up! What wasn't garath ainsworth lock up then?

He walked off the pitch too. That cant have helped

EDIT:
IMO i think some of the fans are saying its morgan and having his reputation as a drawing board. Not saying it was right whats he's done at all here.

What if it was say naughton or speed for instance, would they have this much abuse and all this blown at them or is it because of morgans reputation?

Having seen it they are both looking at the ball and Hume just throws his head in and gets caught. Its an accident these things happen I dont think Morgan set out to hurt Hume.

Thats how i saw it and how the ref saw it (otherwise he would have sent him off).

I thought the same, almost like saying Lucas Niell (i think it was him) should have been sent off for colliding and breaking Djibrill Cisse's leg unintentionally

At the time i personally thought it was both players going for the ball although i thought it did look bad and said to my mate i thought Morgan could have walked for that.

Looking again at it on sky sports tonight on both big league weekend and also ssn, it looks shocking and it looks like although he has got his eye on the ball, he has also raised his elbow before he has even jumped which is a no-no.

As much as i enjoyed the match and the win on saturday, looking at it all again today, Morgan was bang out of order for what he did, and it was never a penalty. It does feel like a bit of a hollow victory

Your not serious?

Deadly serious, i don't think it came of his arm in the least.

You have seen the replays right?

Am I correct in thinking that no further action will be taken against Morgan by the FA as the referee dealt with the matter at the time with a yellow card. Seem to recall this was why Morgan was banned after his tussle with that Arsenal player because the referee hadnt dealt with it?
