This extra £6m burning a hole in our pocket ........

Probably the best ones to get rid of are the ones being replaced by the new signings. You don't keep adding to the squad ad infinitum.
They tend to be the ones no fucker wants though. We've just been promoted. If any of our players aren't good enough for the championship, the only clubs that will take them are L1 clubs, most of whom will struggle to match our wages. We haven't got much deadwood atm. Struggling to shift Done and Brayford.

Yes. I like your thinking. That's more or less how we ended up in L1. 2007/8; £15m parachute payments, spent the lot. 2008/9; £8m parachute payments; spent the lot, flogged Beattie to reduce wage bill and cover the loss of the other £7m we didn't get in parachute payments.
2009/10; sold Kyles to cover the £8m we didn't get in parachute payments.

That's why people said 'KM gambled on getting back to the PL' because it was a genuine gamble and one that we lost.
Was only asking

I don't think it will make a massive difference to be honest...the Tax Man will have his chunk and Wilder has been saying for ages that we will not break the wage structure or ethos of transfers.

OK if you look at it one way we have shelled out just over £2m in fees for players so far, (plus wages) but haven't received a single fee incoming yet so the Walker money probably covers our outlay thus far including wages for a year.....then there's the Maguire cash plus the promise of "significant investment" so we should have plenty to play with if Wilder sees fit. If not, we will have a couple of very happy co-chairmen!

Apparently its 10% of the profit on what spurs paid.

Which is where it gets tricky. Didn't Levy do some sort of weird accounting when they sold Naughton to get out of paying us such a high sell on? If that was to claim they paid more for Naughton than Walker then it increases their profit.

That might play into our hands then, because maybe Spurs claim they only payed us 10p for Walker, so 10% of any profit . . . .. .

When do we get it. What's the chances it'll turn up over the next 3 years in 6 montly installments?

Yeah i think that was the case, but I guess we will have to see. I fully expect us to be shafted somehow.

Totally agree!. Levy is a bent crook who'd sell his granny if he could make enough profit!!. It's nailed on that we will end up getting shafted by the cunt!!. The club will get about a fiver if we're lucky!. Utb

I found this quite old thread on a Spurs forum where they reckon they paid £5m for Naughton and either £3.4m or £2m for Walker. As they sold Naughton for £5m that means no profit so no sell on. If that's the case then even worst case scenario at £50m they're making a £46.6m profit which is nice. I also recall the Naughton deal being mixed up with Spurs and Swansea also swapping Vorm, Sigurdsson and Ben Davies so it did get rather murky.

Fully expect us to get a friendly and Harry Kane's kid brother on loan!!!

To be fair, if we wanted anyone negotiating with a deal on incoming funds to United Daniel Levy would be right up there.

If he's getting straight cash of 50m too, there isn't much scope to rejig the deal in a way that won't see us end up with about 4.7m.

Because we have it doesn't mean we should spend it (not right now anyways) I'd be happy to go into the season with Leonard (700k), new GK (loan) & a CB such as Lenighan. See how we begin the season and if required sign an extra player or two then.

It's not bollocks though is it, if our wage bill is already committed and this is a new additional player to increase our overall bill. Our income won't magically rise and so it is only prudent to consider how the 3 or four years of wages will be funded.

It is like your example of a new car. You have already budgeted regular expenses of a car out of your monthly income, but if you buy a new additional 'second' car you will have to find a way of paying these expenses.

It's a bit like rocket science but without the rockets.........or the science.

no ya daft apeth. You buy a 2nd car on the back of
A) change in circumstances, more money to fund it (promotion= bigger gates, more sponsorship/TV money etc)
B) cut back on other outgoings (get Done & Hanson off the wage bilk @ say £4k each, bring someone in on £8k)

this is the way it goes now, 10 years ago a a squad could be 30-40 pros. Now it's more like 22-25 - cut down on squad numbers but pay better players more.

also we release players, the go out on loan etc.
so if our wage bill is £10mil, we buy a player for £2mil cash on £10k pw, that £10k isn't on top of the £10mil, it's swallowed up by the wages saved on Scougall, Reed, Long etc.

I'll take the 'daft apeth' as a friendly greeting then.

Both A & B are likely already taken account of in a larger projected spend. Our wage budget for this year will be higher than last year and will probably assume we can get some/all of Done and Wilson's wages covered elsewhere.

Quite why you want to drag Hanson in, I don't know as CW has made it clear he will stay as an 'option'. I'm not sure if you are being mischievous or just careless.

The point still remains that if we buy a £6m player his wage demands will be far greater than any of the existing squad and will not have been budgeted for. There is only a limited number of times you can count the higher gates and TV money you know.

Put it all in the bank until January 2018 - see where we are.

Failing that fill the car park with statues and keep everyone happy.

of course "daft apeth" is a friendly greeting between 2 chaps.
whereas "pal" is forum speak for putting on a stone island coat and bouncing around on your toes waving em in, safe in the knowledge the 200 bobby's stood between you will ensure your white trainers will not get dirty.

I think there is more chance of me having a steamy threesome with Kelly Brook & Scarlett Johanssen this weekend than there is of UTD spending £6m on a player ...... or indeed spending £6m on player(s) o_O

Anybody expecting the windfall from the Harry & Kyle business to be handed to Tufty is likely to be extremely disappointed .......... o_O

Sky yesterday said fe was in excess of £50m

This mornings very reliable Sun (lol) said fee is £55m

I reckon Levy wants £50m clear and the £5m will be the approximate fee we receive

How do you know?

He's not far off......

You don't need to spunk money on transfer fees these days unless the player that you specifically want still has a couple of years left on their contract, and increasingly agents are advising players to run their contracts down to 12 months, much more value in it for them. I'm trusting CW to use the money well & hope it won't be wasted on big transfer fees, there are much cleverer ways to use it. And I think he will get to use the vast majority of it, if he thinks he needs it, which he will.
