We need to ditch this small time mentality with regards to transfer fees especially now we are back in the Championship. So what if they are not even proven at a certain level, there are players who have barely kicked a ball going for £10million.

I hope our attitude will has changed and we will start playing hardball on transfers from now on.

I wouldn't want to sell either of them. That's a given.

But if a PL club comes in, turns the players head with big wage increase, as it stands £1m is all we would get for either. Unless we improve the current contracts to £25k per week, to fend of the interest, we are stuffed.

Doesn't reflect on the players real value or quality. Reflects how it is !!!

The singularly most undervalued player on our books is Moore. I wouldn't let him go for less than £3m, possibly more (no pun intended). Some of the figures quoted above for fringe players are pie in the sky. The likes of Reed, Long, Hussey, Wilson & Wallace have no value except for possible sell on clauses for Reed and Long.

If you drew a graph comparing valuations to ability you'd see that in the past 12 months the line has changed. Starts off a nice 45 degree line but then the valuation sharply increases for such a small increase in quality.

There used to be a simple equation
If you want a 10% increase in quality then expect to pay something like 10-20% more.
If you want a 20% increase in quality then expect to pay something like 20 to 40% more etc.

The problem now is that the PL millions has distroyed the normal pattern for player valuations.
Clubs traditionally wanted value for money, now some clubs can almost afford to waste money or gamble their money away.

Let's take Fleck for example, logic suggests he's worth £1 milion, maybe £2 million max
BUT if he manages to increase his standards by a mere 10 or 20% in the Championship
Then his valuation will be more like £5 to £10 million.

Also these days there's the POTENTIAL factor.
Some clubs are so awash with money that they no longer mind gambling large sums on potential.
So that means someone like Brooks, who's probably worth £200K max then becomes worth £2 million to any PL club. Really it's a bit of a minefield these days trying to guess player valuations.

Its a combination of value and what bid is worth accepting. No one thinks that Stones' value is 50 million, but the reason City paid that is because of potential and that Everton would only sell at that price.

Moore has been undervalued by most for example, if we did accept a bid even at 'my' price it would be tricky to find a replacement.
