That's a fantastic way to officially confirm the signing. Sometimes we take ourselves too seriously.

It's also a fantastic signing for Villa. Terry is comfortably the best CB in the Championship at the moment.

Villa getting help from the Paddy Power social media team or something.

It's a very good but not fantastic signing. Terry hasn't played consistently for a few seasons now and there are question marks over his mobility. He'd be far better in the Jake Wright role - middle of a back three, organising two more mobile centre halves either side of him - than in a back four where he's going to get caught out.

That's got to be one of the best signings of the summer. Not for villa, but all the teams around them. I'd love to see him up against the physicality of the championship and pace. In a side where players around him aren't as good as those he was lucky to play with at Chelsea I can see him getting exposed

If Villa can sign Terry then why can't we sign Jags?

NO AMBISHUN!

Aston Villa and Steve Bruce must be deluded if they think John Terry is the leader of men to sort out the team and lead them into the promise land . Shows a sign of desperation to me and will Terry play a full season , no chance .

£100K a week signing for a white elephant as just lined up Bruce for the sack .

Does Sheffield United want or need Jags , does Jags want the blades . He will be same as Terry , go to the highest bidder .

Still think Jags would be a bad move , but we need a CB and who else is out there with the experience we need for a stablished season or promotion push .

Just glad it's Villa who have signed Terry and not us . Jags comes , great , but let's not break the bank or upset the salary apple cart .

I'm sorry but there is no other word to describe Jaytee other than "cunt".

I hope he gets shown up for the last big payday wanker he is. He should have gone to China but the racist wanker wouldn't last 2 minutes.

He was offered PL clubs. He turned them down because he doesn't want to compete against his club. I think the bloke's a full weight but I don't think he just went to the highest bidder.

bit harsh, he has won everything as a player, well celebrated everything! He is what I like in a defender, organiser, tackler, no nonsense, put himself in where it hurts - proper old school. he would improve any defence outside the top 6 prem teams.
if he took the Chinese money we would be saying he was a money grabber on last payday, he's probably took a 50% pay cut to extend his career with a drop in division to match his years. He will probably know he will get stick at every away ground, be the target of wind up merchant forwards looking for a scalp, fair play to him, we've all been an arse at some point in our younger years, and probably dipped it where we shouldn't have?
and finally for those old enough to remember Paul Mcgrath at the lane, pace ain't everything

Well, he has technically taken the Chinese Money... Tony Xia doesn't sound like a traditional Brummie name ;)

He is surely the highest paid Championship player ever?has to be?

Scrub that just read Jonjo Shelvey was on £80k at Newcastle.absolute state of all of this...

Wonder if they'll play him if they draw Chelsea in the Cup.....

No, he SAYS he was offered PL clubs. The 'playing against Chelski' thing could be smokescreen bollocks if he knows his legs have gone and he could get embarrassed every week. Having played all his career in the PL (apart from a short yoof loan at the Scabs), he probably thinks the Championship is quite a bit worse and the more traditional game might suit an ageing and slowing centre half.

He's a full weight wanker, but not a daft one.

Paul Clement was on the radio saying he'd have taken him as they've known each other a long time.

That's not the same as saying 'we made him a formal offer' though, is it?

We'd 'take' Messi tomorrow but might find out a bit further down the line, that there are problems with the fax machine.

I'm paraphrasing. I wasn't taking notes.

That's not like you, so please be more precise in future.

Anybody would think you had a job to do or something...

It'll be on the Star website later, this.

Yes, probably worded something like this...

"as The Star revealed yesterday, there is no evidence that Sheffield United are pursuing the signature of John Terry despite previous reports to the contrary, (in The Star)"
