I'm sure you are all well aware that the FA are running this "Respect The Game" campaign. (Can't find the original thread.)
United are announcing this before every game with a bit read out by a young boy.
Part of the campaign is also a series of posters and adverts asking for respect for the referee.
Given that we've recently witnessed two terrible refereeing displays, how the hell can they ask us to respect a man who is clearly not deserving of it?
And to cap it all, we are soon to get Rob "The Nob" Styles, because he's too crap for the Premier League, but fine for us.
"Respect The Game but Fuck The Fans" should be the new motto of the FA.

Exactly.

Thats what it seems like to me.

Spot on SV. It's bad enough that we have our noses rubbed in it by having 'referees in detention', but to then be told 'by the way, he's a good bloke really' is taking the piss.

Read in the paper about Styles - remember the fist game of our Prem season when Gerard did his dying duck impression? Styles is rubbish and will be whichever level he's at.

I blame him for our relegation. 'the sheffield player attempted to foul gerrard' grrrrrrrrrrrrrr prick! Respet him my arse.... he can jog right on!

To gain respect for someone or something it has to be mutual anyway. So how can you respect a referee that is totally useless at their job?

This must be the same at every ground then as it's the same at Portman Road before every game.

They are the same words, but done by different people.

Usually young kids who are fans of the club in question, there was one the other week read out by a bloke though, forget which away match.

Yeah... they obviously couldn't find any kids in that town who could read.

I just wonder what the aim is? I mean, people who are going to behave like that aren't going to change because of this stuff, so THAT's a waste of time, and the 99.9% of the rest of us find it all a bit tacky so THAT's a waste of time too.
