Oh Ricky your so fine your so fine you blew my mind say RICKY,say RICKY.

Oh Ricky Holmes,Oh Ricky Holmes,Oh Ricky Holmes Loves Chicken Bones,Oh Ricky Holmes.:D
:D
I'm not sure our Mustard chucking, net pinching and Air conditioning destroyers would go along with that? Good effort though. :)

There is absolutely not one clear statement of fact in that article, and I'd guess it is out of date as well.

There's literally zero quotes in that story backing up the headline.
The last quotes I read from Robinson was that the club want to keep him (obviously) that more than one club have bid for him, and that if the bids got "silly" then every player has a price.
This all boils down to the player then really.
Now Carney has signed an extention this seems to be the only signing that we know about that still has some legs.

Robinson will do everything he possibly can to keep his star man

Wouldn't surprise me at all if he stays there

I think he would already be here by now if leaving Charlton

Fingers still crossed but hope is dwindling

Glad it's not just me who doesn't want this guy. He's nearly 30, chose charlton over us when he was available on a free last year, had a good 20 minutes until we moved to a back 4 then went missing at the lane.

Duffy carruthers brooks. Buy me a top cb, holding midfielder or pacy lad up front instead.

Only amongst the impatient. Tufty is pretty confident...

I've not read anywhere Pinchy regards how confident Tufty is of getting his man, only that if no progress by the end of the week he moves on

Do you know him personally, or has he said anywhere that he's confident? Genuinely interested to know

No mate. I just listen to his interviews very carefully. You can read between the lines, as it were.

I also note that neither Leonard nor Holmes have signed new contracts.

The problem is that transfers these days are played out in a very public gaze, with rumour and counter rumour. A couple of decades ago we'd have heard about these transfers only when they happened. Until these two go elsewhere (no sign) or agree new contracts (no sign) we're still very much in the hunt.

The other problem with constant invasive instant news is that people want everything now. Transfers and other business deals don't work like that. The season is still 5 weeks away. The third paragraph of your original post could just as easily have said "I think he would have signed a new contract by now if he were staying at Charlton". I find that fact more significant than any.

What do you say has happened, apart from the passage of time, which is surely neutral in these circumstances, to cause dwindling hope? I think we should wait, at least, for Tufty's own deadline to expire. Whether that actually ends the saga is another matter, of course.

My own view is that both these players will end up at the Lane, but I have no inside track at all. For that Treeton Blade would be my first (and only) port of call.

Ahh, the days of a Star placard with the hand written 'New player signs for United' and rushing to buy a copy to see who this player was and the Pritchett/Howard verdict. Also it wasn't that uncommon to turn up at Bramall Lane on a Saturday afternoon and see the players run out and enquire, 'Who's the number 8?', 'New lad signed from xxxxx yesterday.'

Missed a proper sitter in the 2nd half though, not sure it that's worse than simply going missing or not!

He didn't though. It's a complete myth. He was their main threat throughout. We simply began to assert our clear superiority as a team.

It's very difficult for an opposition attacker to shine in those circumstances, but the lad didn't 'go missing'. For that, see (or rather don't see) Bladey favourites Cotterill and Halford from 2-59 p.m. at Wembley. Now that's going missing. Think they went looking for Howard.

He did go missing. He did miss a sitter. Basham had him in his pocket from the 20 minute mark

Ricky says they are done. That's good enough for me. Go Ricky YAY!

We seem to be concentrating on these two right now, do we not?

Appear, yes but that's a media and messageboard illusion. There will be things happening in the background. Managers juggle a dozen different balls at once. Tufty can probably do twenty.

Sorry. I was there.

Why? The former is entirely irrelevant to the latter! Tufty knows how to multi-task.
