most of what you say there is bollocks

but webber does the hard work but then he cant seem to grasp the concept of shooting

PUT YOUR FOOT THROUGH IT MAN

I got a text from Ross saying "Is it just me that doesn't think Webber was as bad as everyone was making out?" or words to that effect.

Pre-season, Webber was on fire. Now he seems to lack that ability to put a final touch on the ball to get it in the back of the net.

When people were whinging at him in the first half for having a shot, Cotterill had let him down on the right wing. He needed to be up with play, whereas a pass his way would have gone backwards.

I don't think Webber and Beattie play well together, but Webber's pace could be a useful asset if they learn how to play with it properly. Sharp lacks the pace to get on the end of the balls that Webber did... perhaps we could have a genetically modified striker combining Webber's pace but Sharp's poaching skills?

Yes and how constructive it was too. I'm thinking of changing to a career in babysitting.

Ironically, in your pisstake, you stumbled upon a few interesting points.

Webber was very frustrating, he'll start a move and do 3 or 4 quality things, before failing to release the ball early enough or scuffing a shot.

There were 3/4 occasions at least where an easy ball at the right time from him would have resulted in a clear chance, but he tried to beat the man again or messed it up.

Cotterill was very similar, a problem with many wingers, you've beated a man and 4/5 teammates are in the box.... Do you put a cross in and try and benefit from the numbers in the middle and the players you've drawn out.... Do you buggery, you go back and take another man on!

stick to the I.T my friend, dont want to be dealing with us all day

no pisstake from me :cry2:

The goal for offside, created by Webber. Shot blocked by last defender, by Webber. Free kick on the edge of the box, thanks to... You know who :)

Goals scored tonight ZERO. A one trick show pony our Danny.

Get his passing/shooting back to earlier in his career and he'll be a very useful asset. He's just often very frustrating of late.

Now i know you have some kind of vendetta against Cotts. The pass to him was on in the situation you described and everyone in the south stand could see it but Webber either didn't look up or decided to go himself.

Nothing against Webber, he is a forward and he is entitled to go for goal but to say that Cotterill let him down when the slide ball was on and a far better option is harsh in the extreme.

Hahaha.... vendetta? :)

Everyone on the South Stand around me were willing Cotterill forward but instead he was hanging back, which for an attacking winger, was slightly puzzling.

Blackwell has been going on about Cotterill needing to offer more deffensively to suppliment his attacking ability so perhaps he is still unsure of the balance.

I have to say that i didn't see any reluctance from him to get forward but i think it's pretty clear that i rate the lad highly and so perhaps i'm glossing over some of the negative parts of his performance.

I maintain that he was pratcically square of Webber when Webber took the shot on and the ball simply needed rolling across.

I think he has a great deal of ability, but like you said, some people are willing to gloss over some traits because of this. I've seen him readily cut inside when probably a run to the byline and a cross from there would have been more effective - Gillespie was absolutely slated because of this.

He is a player with a great deal of potential but when you see Naughton bombing down that wing from defence, you think, why isn't Cotterill doing the same?

He is a player who is weak defensively, but perhaps he ought to have someone next to him who isn't... giving him free reign to get forward and leave no doubt in his mind that he's an attacking player.

He is young and some might point out our more direct style of play as not suiting him, but when the ball is on the floor he needs to take his chances and run with it to offer us something different :)

Again, we'll have to agree to disagree. From where I was, he looked behind. But that whole attack was a bit of a shambles anyway... with three players all trying to occupy the same space around Webber!

Danny Webber was our main danger man last night. If he'd put one away he'd be up there for man of the match and people would be waxing lyrical about how many problems he caused them and his blistering pace to beat defenders to the ball and his amazing quick feet.

How is it that everyone can agree we had a truly frustrating evening but not extend that to include Danny Webber? No, he wasn't frustrated or unlucky, he was shit, a one trick pony, should piss off to Palarse (PMSL, by the way ).

If only Webber could release the ball early sometimes and get a few shots on target he'd be great.

:)

I've never been that impressed with Webber anyway since he joined us. Obviously he's had some good games for us. But he's too inconsistent for me and at time tries to do way too much without actually achieving anything.

He continually beat his man with ease, got into some fantastic positions and then either shot wide or kicked the ball straight at the front man.

He had about 5 shots from good positions, none of which were on target, and as many crossing opportunities, none of which found their man. Its as though his boots turned into lumps of iron the second he strayed into the box.

I might save this post and paste into the match thread for every game Webber plays in.

Webber was no where near as bad as people made out.

Yes, he didn't play the ball when he should have a few times but he was definately our most dangerous player.

People were having a go at Cotts for NOT getting down the line and past the players often enough, but as soon as Webber does it they are shouting at him calling him a gready bastard.

Remember - he's Danny Webber, not Christiano Ronaldo.

I didnt go last night so cant really comment, but from what he was sayin on the radio he seemed impressive, I'm sure if one of his goals had gone in it would be 'super danny webber' give the lad a chance, was the first time in ages he had been put up front with beattie, he only needs a couple of goals and he will be flying.

Why don't people knock Sharp? 'cos he is a blade? What exactly has he done for us since he joined, apart from a hat trick, nothing else. But he seems to be golden boy.

Rant over.
