Wilder gives a deadline of end of week.

Can Rug Ron hold his nerve for a few more days.

It's quite simple. We don't need to sell and we don't want to sell. So unless wilder pays what we want for leonard he remains at Southend. Blackburn paid 750k for Dack today In league 1. Dack had a shocking season. Lenny has won player of the year 3 times. Says it all. If the blades want him and value him then pay. If not move on.

Bradley Dack is just a two-bit Jose Baxter, too.

It's not as simple as that if the player wants to move.

Our manager doesnt work like that,he has put a valuation on the player what he thinks is right and proper,if he cannot secure his services he will move on,you may then be left with a very disinterested player until the JTW,unless Millwall pursue their interest,

So then he moves at the end of the year for free. We get another season out of him. He will not be in demand at the end of next season if doesn't have another good one with us. So we need him to have a good season and so does he. If we got promotion he would probably stay anyway.

Some of our fans think just because we get rid before we get peanuts for them other clubs do it too. What you're doing is right imo, you're atleast trying to show a bit of ambition which is refreshing to see for a lower League club.

In our case you probably don't see the weeks of negotiaton when selling a player. People just think we sell to the first bid.

He will be at another club this window.

I respect what you say, your chairman seems a great guy, looking after your club, but he is a business man, and the funds for Leonard will help the club move forward.

Ps, the game down at Roots Hall was my favourite away game last season, the town holds some great memories for me (Mrs Treeton dosent read forums ;)),and I had a couple of hours on the front with ghosts from my past.

And we followed that up with a superb performance.

All the best for next season, hope u find a good replacement for Leonard :)

I've explained this with some precision at #1008 and #1076 respectively.

You must have missed it. That's understandable because there's been a lot of activity. I can only ask you to revisit now you have the links.

As Treeton Blade says, the end game is now approaching. The hair has been set running and the traps are opening. You'll get an increased offer closer to but not as much as your valuation. You'll sell.

You are either naively or deliberately missing out a fundamental part of the narrative. Lenny wants to go; He wants to join the Blades; He has a greedy agent.

'Twas ever thus. RugRon can't turn back the tide any more than King Canute. On reflection, he should probably stay out of the water anyway.

This North/South dialogue will soon be redundant. Although you won't be penniless you'll certainly be Lenniless.

Wilders interview seemed to suggest he's set a deadline of Friday for both Holmes and Leonard before he moves onto ther targets

Was listening to Talksport Radio last night (apologies).

Darren Lewis (journalist) was saying that during the transfer window almost all clubs lie.
He said its a time of negotiation, bid and counter bid.
He's personally known of many clubs desperate to sell players announcing to the world that the player is NOT for sale in the hope that it drives up the price (just as the Southend chairman has done).

His advice to the general public was to ignore the words of managers, agents and Chairman regards transfers as it's all a big game to acquire the best deal or give the best PR.

Unless it's one of ours that wants to move in which case the board have no balls and the evil McCabe is cashing in.

Hold em to their contract or McCabe out !!!

Let's hope that McCabe learns a lesson from this
Even Southend can hold on and hold on to a player in the last year of his contract

Assuming that they do hold onto him even though Leonard wants to leave, what purpose would it serve Leonard to act like a cunt and deliberately have a poor uncommitted season

If he did that he would ruin any chance he has of moving in January or next summer

Here's how it's going down - Leonard & Southend representatives speaking to Wilder / Shieber today on final decision. Leonard visiting BL Thursday / Friday this week for medical. Announced on Monday / Tuesday.

When you say "McCabe out", are you planning to acquire his shares? If not, how do you expect him to leave the club without withdrawing the capital he's invested and not essentially fold the club?

Firstly, they won't.

Secondly, he wouldn't. But lack of motivation is bound to take the edge off his performances.

Thirdly, it wouldn't. Anyone inside the game would know and understand the situation. Good players don't suddenly become bad ones.

WOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH

I think you missed something ;)

What purpose did it serve Maguire to pretend he had sunstroke and couldn't play in a friendly?

Your insatiable desire to hammer our own club by cap-doffing to fucking Southend United has lead you into a false premise, namely that Southend will 'hold on'. They won't.

In the days before the all-seeing eye of the internet, all this would be played out quietly in the background. Leonard's signing would be announced on the back page of the Star and nobody would waste any energy on tantrums.

Look, we all know that, but there's an opportunity here to knock our own club and doff our caps to another. It's a bit like being a six-yard box striker. They have to be taken when they come along.

Does not always work like,we had a similar situation with Michael Brown, just tossed it off until he got his move, maybe this Leonard is different to Brown, maybe he is the same,he might have already made his mind up you aint go,if the lad is set on a move,he will depart, that is modern day footballers for you

Tell Lenny the Southerner and his Bit of Treacle to get off the train at Chesterfield, drive him to the Lane via Baslow,Grindleford,FoxHouse,Ecclesall Road, jobs a good un,he will sign on the dotted line no problem when he sees the type of house he can buy for his money and where he can live, sorted

Actually, tell him to go from Baslow to Curbar to Frogatt.

Just like Eric Taylor did when he tried to sign Ron Springett in 1958. The story went like this

Ron was met at the Midland Station by Eric Taylor, than taken up Ecclesall Road, and round Ringinglow before dropping down to Hillsborough. When he came up for his first match at Hillsborough he got a taxi outside the station, which took him down The Wicker and through Firvale etc, to Hillsborough, and if he'd gone that way the first time he came up to Sheffield, he'd never have signed for them!

Whereas now they take the potential signings down The Wicker and through Firvale in order to prepare them for when they cast their eyes on the rust bucket.

They won't hold on forever and I never said they would
But I wouldn't rule out that he starts the season at Southend
That's something that would never have happened if a United player was in his last year

Southend deserve some credit for not rolling over like a little bitch

In these circumstances it all gets a bit like politics, the loudest noises come from those with extreme views.

The fact is we've often not played hardball enough but equally you can't say we've always rolled over either.

We've sold too many cheaply and too quickly but also got some great money for mediocre players.
